Ukraine in Junior Eurovision 2023: Anastasia Dymyd with “Kvitka”
Ukraine used a national final to select their entry for Junior Eurovision 2023. Anastasia won the public vote and finished second with the jury during the grand final, securing her the number one spot overall.
Hailing from Hoshiv, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine, Anastasia is already well accustomed to singing competitions. She’s even won a number of them, such as taking first place at the Black Sea Games 2023 in the category of Modern Folk Performance.
As you’ll see in the lyrics for “Kvitka”, Anastasia is big fan of flora. However, the young singer is less keen on fauna — she is afraid of almost all animals, including butterflies.

What do the “Kvitka” lyrics mean?
The lyrics of Anastasia’s entry revolve around a “Flower” — “Kvitka” / “Квітка”.
It’s not just any flower, but rather one with healing properties that is passed down from mothers to their children in stories:
Flower, flower – mother’s precious
Flower, flower – for children’s happiness
Flower, flower – time flies so fast
Flower, flower – for children’s happiness
Anastasia believes the love that is shared within these flowers has the power to heal the world. The young star encourages us all to find the magic within ourselves and use it to stop the injustices that are taking place:
Love will win – I know
It’s time for your magic
Find yourself in this world
And stop this tragedy
The lyrics eventually have a full-circle moment. After the mother originally passed the flower down to her daughter, the daughter later guides her mother and gifts the flower back to her:
Mum, I will kiss
Your tired eyes
I will take you up into the sky
You will be smiling
The flower will always stay in your heart

Sorry, let’s be real here.
This song is so, so, so, so, so, so repetitive.
That alone stops me from enjoying this song.
Good luck though !!
I believe this may well be the most adorable entry in all of JESC! The song is adorable, Anastasia is adorable, the choreography is simple but still cute… It works! Yes, as an adolescent woman I’m not the target audience for this song, but I still find it so irresistibly cute! She seems to perform it well too, especially given she’s only 9 years old too!
I can’t really find any flaws with the songwriting besides some really cheesy lyrics and sliiiightly repetitive melody, which… it’s JESC so that’s fine. It’s an 8/10 for me! 😀
I like the song and Anastasia is so cute
I wish her good luck in France.
What an excellent entry! Anastasia is a shiny little star. VERY good lyrics, staging, choreo, outfits, everything. Full package for sure. Good luck in Nice!
So so cute, the cutest, she’s already iconic and so talented.
Good luck Ukraine!
