Malta continues the hunt for its Eurovision 2024 representative. The country is the first to begin its national selection for Malmö, with semi-final 4 of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2024 taking place on Friday evening.

Out of the 36 competing acts, the final nine shared their songs during semi-final 4. This took place within Maltese TV show XOW, between 21:00-23:00 CET.

Voting opened once all nine acts had performed, but the results won’t be revealed until next week. In total, 12 acts from across all four semi-finals will progress to the grand final in January 2024.

But that doesn’t stop us from asking for your opinions. Following all the song presentations, we’ve opened a poll below so you can let us know who stood out in semi-final 4 of MESC 2024.

MESC 2024 semi-final 4 acts

  • ERBA’ – “Sirena”
  • Miriana Conte – “Venom”
  • Christian Arding – “Bellus”

For me personally the only songs I liked, and think with a revamp could possibly reach the final in Malmö, are either Bewsa by Dominic Cini or Venom by Miriana Conte…

I think Christian Arding or Denise would be a good choice. Hoping for a song in Maltese.

I hope Matt Blxck isn’t chosen. He’d be seen as a Kaarija wannabe so soon after him in Europe who don’t know him and wouldn’t do well at Eurovision.

There are not songs that would be sure qualifiers or potential winner in Malmo, but there are songs which would at least be decent for Eurovision and which could potentially qualify. Karin has the most competitive song with most potential, but I really like Moira’s song and performance too. If the winner is gonna be a man it better be Miguel cause ladies are absolutely dominating this year.

My favorites right now: Moira Stafrace, Sarah Bonnici
I’m curious to see how these fare in the later rounds: Franklin Calleja, Karin Duff
Not for me: Matt Blxck, Denise, Oxygyn
Good performers singing just OK songs: Too many

Some people are trashing this semi, but it’s REALLY strong, albeit it with some revamps, there’s a lot of potential for Malta this year.

“… but the results won’t be revealed until next week.”

Thank you Malta for letting us know about how your selection goes, unlike other broadcasters who publish unimportant information week by week, or others that say nothing.

Malta, you seem to be really doing much better. So far 2023 has been your year regardless of the end result in Liverpool. Hoping for a qualification in 2024 <3

For me Martina Cutajar was by far the best performer and had by far the best song. I was so sure that I expected to see her 1st in this poll. Then to see her dead last is shocking, to say the least! And Matt Blxck 1st, what a silly song & performance! I must really be a very specizl Eurovidion fan …

What a night! I didn’t expect this after the first three semifinals. Tonight, I could easily see several strong options.

I was so looking forward to this selection and it was the biggest let down! Can’t understand how Ryan Hili chooses a weak song when his voice is so good. I prefer his entry last year by far. Today I liked Kyle George best and Christian Arding although I did not understand a word. Matt Black and Greta Tude looked like they could make a duo act!

On first listen basis and not paying attention to lyrics I enjoyed A LOT “Miles Away”, “Bellus”, and “Banana”. “Arrows” sounds ok too.

From the clips, Christian Arding is the best, most professional, singer. If he was 21 and hot, he would win.

As per my own taste: 1st and 4th semis were solid, 3rd had one remarkable song and the 2nd was forgettable with one exception. I like about 7-8 songs. Malta’s getting better.

Moira being the remarkable one from 3? I’d love for her to mark the 30th anniversary of Dublin by at least getting to the final.

Greta Tude. Gratitude? Not a good drag name, sorry.

This is… not good. Again, I’m sorry. I wanted to like it. As a performative piece, not bad. A for effort. As a song, no.

Where did he get the banana from? – From behind.
Where did the banana go? – To feed the dove that was thrown in the same direction by miss universe nepal during the national costume competition this morning.
Oh, I hope the dove didn’t get hungry until the banana came
Who knows?
Actually thinking about it, it wasn’t a real dove, but it was a REAL banana.
Go bananas!
Go BANANAAAAAAS!

Have you forgotten about “Mama Š?” THAT soon? Let 3 came 13th.
Malta’s not gonna go through with a serious entry. They barely make it with juries in semi-finals. So that’s why.
They should give it a revamp and they’re good to go. This is the only well-produced track out of all of these songs.
Whether you like it or not.

Jonas

I don’t like it. It is horrible. I was referring to Norway 2022, anyway, they brought banana power in Torino. I don’t really care about how well-produced a song is, it shouldn’t be a production contest.

I didn’t say I like it, but it definitely stood out. Do you remember every song from SF1, SF2 and SF3? Because I don’t. Even the ones I kinda liked I forgot about.
Anyways, Malta has to pull a huge stunt to stand out at Eurovision. I don’t understand why they keep on wasting money for this sh*t show instead of saving money to create a killer entry, like…???

Blxck will be going. As long as there are no juries in semi, this sort of “track” will be favoured and the contest turned into a mockery. No disrespect to Matt, but his entry from last year was better.
