YAKTAK

Earlier this month Ukraine’s state broadcaster Suspilne revealed the 20 acts who made the longlist for Vidbir 2024 — its national selection for Eurovision. And this morning they revealed the lucky 10 who have survived a live audition to reach the final.

Vidbir 2024: Ukraine’s first 10 finalists

– alyona alyona & Jerry Heil
– Drevo
– INGRET
– MÉLOVIN
– NAHABA
– NAZVA
– SKYLERR
– YAGODY
– YAKTAK
– Ziferbla

There’s still hope for the 10 acts who didn’t make the cut. They’ll now face an online vote and the public will save one of them. The wildcard contenders are…

– ANKA
– Carpetman
– Julia Belei
– KARYOTYPE
– KRYLATA
– PARFENIUK
– SHÉPA
– STASYA
– SWOIIA
– TESLENKO

Among the big names is YAKTAK — that’s Yaroslav Mykolaiovych Karpuk. He rose to fame on the fifth season of the Ukrainian television show “Holos.Dity,” where he placed second.

Fans of Ukrainian music will instantly recognise alyona alyona. She’s the most-loved rapper in Ukraine and her fans have asked her many times if she wants to go to Eurovision. But in one television interview in 2021 she told Kateryna Osadcha that her style may not fit with the competition.

“I don’t know whether I would be ready. It’s rap… it’s such a vocal competition, and I’m more of rap music artist. I wouldn’t know.”

That may explain why she’s teamed up with Jerry Heil, the YouTuber-turned-fan-favourite. She finished third in last year’s national selection with “When God Shuts the Door.” Their collaboration could make for a tantalising offer.

There’s history here. Last year, Jerry and alyona alyona teamed up with Lithuanian Eurovision alum Monika Liu on “Dai Boh,” which you can watch below.

And then there’s MÉLOVIN — another giant of the music scene and his country’s Eurovision 2018 representative with “Under the Ladder.”

MÉLOVIN teased his participation with us back in August, when he was promoting his new song “Don’t Need Your Love.”

He’s grown significantly as an artist since Eurovision 2018, where he finished 17th in the final.

So who are you most excited about? Let us know down below…

definitely a MELOVIN fan and would LOVE to see him back on the big stage! his music has improved significantly since we last saw him in 2018.

i would be happy with alyona alyona & jerry heil though, and i think that could make for a very interesting performance!

Alyona Alyona and Jerry Heil already collaborated with former ESC participants: Ochman. Monika Liu and Ela (Germany 2014). I wish that we could see these girls also on the big stage.

Sorry, but I`m not a fan of Melovin.

I agree! Melovin had his chance and made it to the final anyways, it’s time for someone new to represent Ukraine

If Teresa & Maria is about the sisters of Milanollo the we can expect lots of violins.

That would make sense for a rapper/singer duet since girls nicknames were mademoiselle staccato and mademoiselle adagio.
