It’s not official, but it’s already leaked by Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. Carina Berg and Björn Gustafsson will co-host Melodifestivalen 2024.
Carina is one of Sweden’s best-known TV presenters, having presented shows including Förkväll and Idol. She and her second husband — the footballer Erik Berg — starred in a reality show called Bergs drömkåk. And she and Christine Meltzer twice traveled through the United States and Europe meeting interesting people for their show Berg & Meltzer.
Björn Gustafsson is a comedian and actor known for shows including Parlamentet, a satirical panel gameshow that parodies Swedish political life.
The two have crossed paths before…and at Melodifestivalen.
During an interval in 2008, he sat on stage with a guitar and begged Carina to dump her then husband Kristian Luuk, who was hosting that edition of Mello. His “Love Song to Carina” included lyrics like: “You’re Jane and I’m Tarzan, break up with him” and “I am beautiful and unique, my father is rich.”
He took the attention and ran with it, ultimately being named Sweden’s funniest man. He’s also had turns in movies including Spy.
Apparently Melfest bosses are very happy with the choice. This year there are only six acts in each heat, which means the hosts will need to entertain extra hard to fill bigger gaps.
“Together, they will both be able to put on a show, which is needed now that there are only going to be six songs in each sub-competition,” an Aftonbladet source says. “The presenters have a lot of time to fill. But I have heard that they will probably bring back the finalists talking about their songs as well. It has really been reviled in recent years since that part was scrapped.”

Feels like Aftonbladet is SVT’s spokesman
2008 Swedish spokesperson? Let’s hope he improved his comedic skills since then. 🙂
Björn’s “comedy” is fun if you’re 40+ white male, let’s just say that.
I found it funny when I was 17…
Sounds funnier than the usual Mexican romantic comedy film lmao
That was a random unexpected choice. But could work really great.
THIS IS PERFECT!!!
