Earlier this year in Liverpool, Croatia earned their first qualification to the Eurovision grand final since 2017 thanks to political rock band Let 3. And now the group may be making a return to contest, as they’ve been confirmed to be among the participants for Dora 2024 – Croatia’s national selection for Malmö.

Let 3 are one of the 24 acts who have been selected to take part in the selection. Broadcaster HRT chose them from 203 submissions, which is a record number of entries for Dora.

Another notable returnee is Damir Kedžo, who won Dora in 2020 with “Divlji vjetre”. Sadly, Damir never made it to Eurovision because the contest that year was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Dora 2024 participants

  • Alen Đuras – “A Tamburitza Lullaby”
  • Let 3 – “Babaroga”
  • Noelle – “Baby, Baby”
  • Boris Štok – “Can We Talk”
  • Natalie Balmix – “Dijamanti”
  • Pavel – “Do mjeseca”
  • Marcela – “Gasoline”
  • Erna – “How Do You Love Me”
  • Vinko – “Lying Eyes”
  • Lana Mandarić – “More”
  • James Night – “Nebo plače”
  • Saša Lozar – “Ne plačem zbog nje”
  • Barbara Munjas – “Nepobjediva”
  • Lara Demarin – “Ne vjerujem ti”
  • The Splitters – “Od kad te sanjam”
  • Misha – “One Day”
  • ET – “Pametnom dosta”
  • Lu Dedić – “Plavi leptir”
  • Zsa Zsa – “Probudi usne moje”
  • Vatra – “Slatke suze, gorka ljubav”
  • Stefany Žužić – “Sretnih dana dat’ će Bog”
  • Eugen – “Tišine”
  • Mario Battifiaca feat. Robert Ferlin – “Vodu piti trizan biti”
  • Damir Kedžo – “Voljena Ženo”

HRT has additionally selected four reserve songs should any of the above acts have to withdraw from the competition. These are:

  • Baby Lasagna – “Rim Tim Tagi Dim”
  • Cota G4 – “Stavi se na mjesto”
  • Mihael Kvorka – “Vrati se”
  • Ether – “Duboko roni”

The Songs Just premiered at the croatian Radio. There are really good songs like Lara Demarin, Lana Mandaric, Let 3, Lu Dedic, Alen Duras and so on. They are really divers and will be published on the 8th January on Hrt’s Youtube Chanel. You should not sleep on croatia this year !??

That screams top 5 placement in Eurovision final! If they choose it, it’ll probably end up being my favourite contender for the win.

Fun fact: Let 3’s Mrle has no recollection of writing “Babaroga” and doesn’t think the song even exists.

this could actually be related to israel? because i don’t think hrt would select a song that doesn’t exist and give it a title
my guess here is that the song will be about israel and how “it doesn’t exist” to make a pro palestine statement? might be super far fetched, but i think it’d be cool

This seems like a pretty strong lineup. I would love for Croatia to eventually reach the top 10 again, I can’t believe it’s been 22(!) years since they last finished that high.

Has it been that long? Eek. Croatia was the first of the post-1993 to breakthrough at the contest. If you asked me in 1999 which of the contest’s “new” countries would be the first to win, I’d have said Croatia. Then it seemed to forget how to do well at the contest.

Hell yeaaah, Natalie Balmix ??
She was in Serbian singing show last year, and she can SING!
Plus Darko Dimitrov is making her song (guy who made songs for Hurricane and last year’s Dora participant Hana Masic)
I am thrilled ?

I used to hate Mama SC but it has grown on me. I’m OK with Let 3 returning to ESC as long as they offer something different.

i wouldn’t be against let 3 returning… i just know they’ll have a babushka on stage with that song title and it’ll be hella entertaining

Babaroga is not a similar thing to babushkas. Babaroga is a folklore witch similar to Baba Yaga and Krampus. Children are told to be scared of Babaroga. It’s also used as broader term of something one should be afraid of or avoid.

Very good line-up! Best one since Dora return.
Also, introduction of 2 semi-finals.
Croatia has big plans, I guess! ?

THE SPLITTERS!!!!! So exciting with a song in Croatian that sounds dreamy when *translated* into English. I can’t wait for Dora 2024!!!!!

I loved Barbara’s song last year and I’m happy to have her back. I’m starting to feel impishly contrarian about Let3; the more people get irritated, the more I want them back.

Not particularly excited for Let3 taking part of Dora again, especially after killing it with a great entry that brought a great result to Croatia this year (not saying this as something bad, in fact I’m very pleased that they achieved that after Croatia having done so bittersweet in recent years), but the whole lineup looks better than this year’s one so I’d rather someone else getting the ticket to Malmö

No, Let 3 have had their turn. I hated their song this year, but I get they were making a statement. They’ve made it, so why are possibly going back?

I’d like Damir to have his chance at last, I feel the same about all those 2020 acts who never had the chance to sing on the Eurovision stage, like The Mamas or Ulrikke.

I really wish the EBU had forced broadcasters to use their 2020 singers in 2021 (except those like Ben Dolic who didn’t want to go again.)

Didn’t The Mamas sing on Eurovision stage in 2019? And possibly in 2010?

Yeah, but they were backing singers, and uncredited – Sweden 2019 wasn’t John Lundvik & The Mamas.

I really liked Damir and his song last year. I could never understand why the fandom didn’t back him as he had the full package! Hopefully he gets to go and it’s already looking promising with a song that’s not in English! I was impressed by Croatia’s stage and lighting last year so hopefully Dora will be a spectacle once again and eventually become one of the more respected NFs!

Natalie Balmix made a song with Darko Dimitrov, so I expect a lot. He was her coach in serbian music talent show last year and they already published a song ‘Lomi me’ which I like.

I’m guessing Let 3 are already on their way to Malmö if the Dora competition level is anything like last year, which I found low. I hope their song is at least good and meaningful. I’d also like to see Damir eventually win the ticket with a good song.

Strongest lineup namewise since Dora’s return. We just need to see if the songs will deliver as well.

I think 2021 was the strongest. That was a great diverse year.
That Ursula lady who was head boss of Dora 2021 and 2022 knew what she was doing.
This Tomislav guy is not as good

Marcela Orosi or Natalie Balmix are my favourites at this time. Vinko is an interesting singer-songwriter as well. Generally, the list is abundant in many young and talented singers, so I really hope Croatia will select the best of the best this time. Best of luck!

Why have Dora given Let 3’s rabid Croatian fan base. They could have been selected internally and avoid the emberassment to the other artists of losing to a massive public vote in Dora again.

Because it’s good to have NFs and give your country’s musicians a chance to perform? Thankfully, not everyone is so lazy to give up NFs completely.

Let 3 remember came out of nowhere last year. No one expected a victory from them. This year that could happen too and Let 3 could have a much worse entry!

None of the fandom liked them and the studio version of their song was odd and it was hard to see it winning without THAT staging…

Nah, that was Nevera, bit Let3 was basically second place. When that turned out to be a charisma black hole and everything else was kinda boring, I think Let3 basically won by default because they were at least memorable.

Not exactly excited about Let 3 potentially pulling back-to-back victories, but at the very least they can’t be compared to anybody else, very special and very unique
If Croatia does decide to send them again, I hope the song is worth it
Other than that, would be nice to give Damir a chance now
