I don’t get it. Spaniards’ been complaining for months last year for EAEA being “too local-taste” and a sound that nobody outside Spain would feel related too (and sadly they were right), and now many of them think a BOLERO can represent the country at Eurovision… I know that trying to find out what “the perfect Eurovision-winning material” is, took Spain to last places in most of last 10/15 years. But I think of this bunch, the only songs with some kind of potential of a +15 spot are Here to Stay, Se quien soy, Brillos platino and (depending on… Read more »

Going to be honest, the first time I listened to st. Pedro’s Dos Extraños, I did not understand the hype. But then, I listened to the song again, this time paying way more attention to the song than I already did, and now it’s my favorite song of the pre-season so far.

If it is finally selected for Spain, it will be one of my favorites Spanish entries of all time. I love it. I wish St. Pedro wins Benidorm Fest and have the chance of listening to this jewell in Malmo.

It is my favourite as well, but you just mentioned a danger for ESC. There you only have a chance, most of the people (except for eurofans) are not going to listen to the song more than once. So if st Pedro is winning Benidorm Fest and going to Eurovision, his team needs to make sure that it takes the audience attention from the very first moment.

This IS what people usually say but why is It so? I mean why would people Who have no real interest about Esc, Who are not even curious enough to check the songs before the show, vote?

For some people, Eurovision is a 1 night event, and it is ok. I just watch football in the finals as well. Would I vote if there was a voting in football? I don’t know, but I could perfectly see it happening.

Gotta be honest, as a Mexican who’s not that into Spanish music, I gotta admit that the only one I loved this time is St. Pedro’s entry, it’s magical and it hooked me up from the get-go! A bolero at ESC sounds unprecedented too!

I think the poll winner is also the best song for the win: Sofia Coll with Here to Stay, but very good selection songs I’ve lots of favs and curious about the staging!
Jorge González, Nebulossa, Mantra, Delacruz, Maria Peláe and st. Pedro wish you also all luck for the win!

After more listens, the pop and dance drop songs are starting to merge as one! I’m seeing a world where they could have just made one song for half of these! However, Delacruz’s is surprisingly underrated. He has one of the best pop drops and if performed well live will certainly make an impact!

Nebulossa is my fav, no discussion, buuuutttt St. Pedro? A bolero on ESC? It can be legendary. And bolero doesn’t sound well in another language, so Spain has the chance to send this good version of bolero, and I think they should take it.

Bolero is latino, not from Spain. St. Pedro adapted it lovely tho. That’s why I believe it’s the only one.

Foreign eurofans keep comparing st. Pedro with Salvador Sobral… while I would rather say it is something like Salvador Sobral meets Marco Mengoni and then we add latin flavour to it. Meaning, something we have actually not seen in ESC before.

Please, don’t compare St. Pedro with Blnaca Paloma, EaEa was folklore and St. Pedro is a bolero wich is a n universal latin sound. Gloria Estefan and Luis Miguel won worlwide hearts with this kind of sound.

Yes, and if that was the case I believe the reaction of the Spanish eurofans would be the same: we would have chosen her again. Anyway, I think that we still have to see Benidorm Fest to know who the best candidate is. Blanca Paloma, this time last year, was not in most of the bets and it was the performance what changed everything.

I’d rather send a risky but interesting entry than a safe candidate for the places from 5 to 20. Winning is not everything.

I’d go for Almacor all the way, even though I prefer “Pop Tech” to “Brillos Platino”. Noan would be my 2nd option. I also like Marlena, Angy and Nebulossa but won’t be appreciated by foreing ears, especially the later. Shout out to Yoly Saa, not a winner, but the production value is really high. Sofia Coll sounds too Eurovision oriented and I don’t really think it could stand out. Kind of reminds me of Agoney. Same as Jorge González trying to replicate Chanel’s success with the same formula but less effective. I’m not sure about st. Pedro it could go… Read more »

You’ve picked the songs that I find most interesting as well. All in all this looks like a very entertaining Benidorm Fest again. I agree that many songs are very similar; somehow I find most of the groups and duos pretty weak, while those that stand out are mainly soloists. Purely based on what we’ve heard, my vote goes to St. Pedro, absolute standout song and could be a incredibly exciting choice for Spain. Sofia Coll sounds way too much like a fanw*nk tbh. But let’s wait and see what their performances look like.

It has to be St Pedro. I think what most Eurofans /Eurogayfans need IS to “arrimar la cebolleta” and St Pedro IS giving them that. Why do they root for ventilator divas with a crap song about being yourself and crap?? BC they really need to “arrimar cebolleta”. When u dont arrímate the cebollate enough u go for cheap diva messages about how nice IS being my ass

This is what happens when people choose diversity over quality. When someone prioritizes diversity over quality, songs like Prisionero will be overshadowed. We should keep diversity and quality at the same level.

Quality > Diversity –> boring
Diversity > Quality –> bad
Quality = Diversity –> good and fun

I put Marlena because their song was the catchiest to me. Roger and Quique VERY underrated by the fandom – they could EASILY win if their live performance is any good! And Sofia is obviously the overhyped fandom winner. Big Spanish St Pedro cult now developing for some reason.

I can see multiple winners of Benidorm Fest here honestly depending on what the live performance is like.

I quite agree with this!! Marlena have the catchiest song (my favourite so far), Nebulossa bring a bit of satire, Angy is quite overhyped (sorry to her followers), St Pedro is not my cup of tee at all (it just sounds a reject from the Portuguese NF), Roger is my dark horse (2nd favourite rn) and Dellacruz my guilty pleasure (but not beyond that). I think Spain should leave Flamenco aside and bring some urban-pop taste to Eurovision (Spanish rappers can be as good as the Italians competing in San Remo, where rap is far more common than in Benifest)… Read more »

I am quite surprised seeing that European eurofans don’t consider Dos Extraños to be a boring song. So I would definitely go for it (at least before watching performances and stagings): it’s a very good song, Spanish people like it, foreign people like it, it’s a genre of music that Spain can bring to Eurovision rather than any other country…
My only concern was Europeans wouldn’t “understand” it or consider it boring. But apperently that is not the case.

At present I dont think there is any song here that can do well at Eurovision. “Europe” seems to like other stuff. So if I choose not thinking on the final result or the competition, either María Pelae or St. Pedro. Not only I think they are the BEST songs of the bunch but they are the ones that were clearly not done to sound Eurovision-y.
However I think that It would be a Great pain for María if she was chosen to go to Eurovision so I vote for St.Pedro.

My favorites are st. Pedro and Maria pelae because they both offer a distinct sound. I also like the powerful chorus of se quien soy.

Spain is probably too afraid to send something like remitente after last years result but I don’t think it has to end low just because ea ea did. Portugal has ended at the top and at the bottom with similar songs. There’s lots of factors coming into that.

Right now I’m listening non stop to Nebulossa. But I think they have to be very smart with the scenography in order to succeed live wise.

What previous years have shown is that the act that wins is the one that has the whole package in the live performance. The one that maybe you weren’t counting on, but leaves you in awe with their performances.

I believe every artist here knows this from previous years, so let’s hope they come with some brilliant ideas and give us a close race!!

I am leaning towards either “Sé Quién Soy”, “Dos Extraños” or Remitente. * “Sé Quien Soy” is a really-accessible rock track; it somehow reminds me of “Majak” by The Hardkiss (the opening act of the first Eurovision 2023 semifinal), and I can’t really stop loving the instrumental break within the song. * “Dos Extraños” feels really touching. sounds like it is truly from the singer’s heart. * Remitente could be another Blanca Paloma moment. the attitude is there, the voice is there, the sound is also spot on on the money; it’s unfortunate that the wider Eurovision audience didn’t appreciate… Read more »
