The Swiss Eurovision selection process is now in full swing. National broadcaster SRF has announced that five acts are left in the running to represent Switzerland in Malmö, with the chosen entry set to be revealed by Spring 2024.

A total of 427 songs were submitted for the selection. Of these, 40 percent came from Switzerland and the rest from all over the world.

As in previous years, the Swiss entry is being determined during a multi-stage internal selection process. But this year, the process has been further developed and made even more international. In addition to a Swiss audience panel, an international audience panel has also been having their say in several selection rounds as to who will represent Switzerland in Sweden next year.

These audience panels have been joined by a separate international jury of almost 30 experts from 20 countries who have already proven their expertise as members of their respective Eurovision country juries. The votes of the audience panel and the international jury count for 50 percent of the total outcome.

427 down to 5

The submitted songs were evaluated in the various selection stages by at least 240 international audience jury members. Five final songs have emerged from the process and will compete for the ticket to represent Switzerland in Malmö at Eurovision 2024.

The artists of these songs were invited to a performance boot camp in Zurich at the beginning of December, where they practiced their live performances. The Swiss song for Eurovision 2024 in Malmö will now be selected from these five and will be announced in Spring 2024.

SRF implemented the selection process in collaboration with the market research institute Link. The details of the selection and further information are published in the regulations on the website srf.ch/eurovision.

It has also been announced that broadcasters SRF, RTS, RSI and RTR are jointly involved in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 process.

Would you want your national selection process to become more international? Who do you want to represent Switzerland for Eurovision 2024? Let us know in the comments.

They’ve really moved on the odds. Must be something decent on the horizon from Switzerland in the 5

Time to send an Italian or Romansch song. You could have sent a Swiss German song recently but instead you wasted your Swiss German entrants on English songs, so it’s time for Italian/Romansch now.

As much as I am happy to see Switzerland in the final since 2019, I think they need to switch things up for 2024 because I see diminishing results sending a male sung ballad year after year. I think they should send a different song genre to keep up their qualification streak. I don’t care if the next singer is a man or woman, just a different song genre altogether.

The way Switzerland chooses its entry is always over-the-top, why wait some 4 months if you have your top 5 already?
I wish Switzerland were bolder at least when it comes to the time they announce their representative

They overthink and overcomplicate a lot imo, very very calculated, it’s a bit too much. And since the beginning of December they have already heard and see in live the 5 remaining songs but they will make a decision only in spring, seriously! More than 4 months to decide for only 5 songs, are you kidding me! But yeah I see you, you want to size up the competition before as always to adapt your choice and want to be among the last to reveal as always, it’s so brave and so helpful! In any case a male singer with… Read more »

Songs that are released to early are losing momentum. In December/January the song for Switzerland will be already chosen. They just sit on it till March to release it in March….! It never worked when they released it in December pre 2019….

I think we could do with something slightly more authentic from Switzerland this year. Nothing against the recent Swiss entries, of course, but I just feel like Switzerland should try something different.

For those who were wondering (there have been rumors about it): no, Ashley Tisdale is not among them. But they have some interesting choices left.

I can predict the future: Sasha Jean Baptiste will soldier soldier on for whatever the international jury chooses for the three minutes Swiss tv pays for.
