Update on 27 December 2023: Aliona Moon and Milla have withdrawn from the competition….less than 24 hours after the list was revealed. No reason was given. Our original post remains below.

Moldova has announced 32 songs and artists, who are in the running to represent them at Eurovision 2023 in Malmö.

There’s some familiar names among the participants, including Aliona Moon, who represented the country in 2013, Natalia Barbu, and Sasha Bognibov, who holds the record for the most songs entered in national selections for Eurovision.

The 32 songs will be heard on January 13th by a professional jury in the live auditions stage of the selection. Then, the competing songs will be whittled down further for Etapa Națională 2024, the National Final which will take place on February 17th.

Moldovan Național Broadcaster TRM received a total of 51 submissions in their open call for songs, down 9 from the total received for the Moldovan selection for Eurovision 2023.

The 32 participating songs and artists for Moldova at Eurovision 2024 are:

Valeria Pasha (Or Pasa as some people also call her) has released the full version Anti-Princess on Youtube and Spotify. It includes an extra part at the end and then the Spotify version tells us the credits: Andrei Vulpe, Iana Bavelskaia, Ilya Iakovet, Iuliana Parfeni, Ivan Luca, Lilian Dobinda, Maxim Krasnecov, PASHA PARFENI and Valeria Pasa. I was a big fan of Parfeni’s song last year and I singled his song out and this song i’ve singled out too so maybe this also the winner?!

Dpstp is American. I wonder who the vocalist is as it has to be someone from Moldova (And how it would go live thinking Austria 2022…)

Some interesting choices here but wouldn’t be suprised if Natalia gets it as an internal pick after auditions but there’s a few behind the “anti-princess” song (including pasha!)

Personally I’d like “run” to go – hoping Valeria can pull it off live (liked her song last year too)

Who here knew Valeria Pasha was one of the two girls who danced alongside Pasha Parfeni for his Eurovision song last year? I didn’t! I also didn’t know this but Adelina Lordachi was the other dancer and she ALSO participated in the Moldovan national final last year! I had no idea she was one of the backing dancers – she was disguised well! I remember saying to myself it’s either her or Pasha for Moldova last year since she had a great voice but then the juries did her dirty and she ended up not qualifying by ONE point! Her… Read more »

Holy sh*t just checked out Valleria Pasha and apparently she’s been participating in Moldovan National Selections since at least 2013, when Aliona Moon was sent to Eurovision! The fact Aliona withdrew might be her revenge! Valeria deserves a spot as the frontrunner. Her song is clearly the best even from a small snippet as it stands out and she can definitely sing well live. She’s got the experience. I’m suprised she wasn’t sent before to Eurovision – she deserves it! She’s also got a really good back catalogue of memorable dance songs.

i am going to follow the auditions anyway just to see how Sasha gets on live with what i think his best work yet, its very sasha’s own signature sound but its also very listenable compared to some of his previous entries, he is overhated too i think

and okay i lied, but yeah i always like moldova, even their entries in english have something very typical moldovan about it, 2019 was in my top 3 too, i liked Stay by Anna Odobescu, and the sand art like with Mika i thought looked cute

Theodor Andrei made several accusations against TVR. From what I remember, he said they didn’t want to give him money to produce a music video, so he made and paid for one himself. TVR tried to prevent the video from being released by threatening Theodor and his family. He released it anyway. Then at Eurovision, Theodor felt like he didn’t get to present his song in the way that he wanted. He didn’t like the staging and didn’t want to start the song acoustically, but said TVR pushed both of those things on him

I didn’t like DGT, but TVR did Theodor very dirty. Maybe it’s not just the scandal itself, but also that everyone saw how mistreated he was and no one raised their hand to represent Romania this year

Based on studio tracks my one and only favourite for the festival stage is “Carnaval”, it sounds energetic and joyful and it’s got outrageously awesome staging potential. Moldova does “extra” so well, that’s their signature in the festival and they remain unmatched.
The overall selection is better than in previous years, for sure. Even the “Married to Twins” song sounds like a comedy movie script of sorts.

Moldova 2024 – Natalia Barbu – In The Middle

Etapa Nationala 2024 seems to be unique amongst the selections with several acts with two entries each.

As for titles of entries: “Tudorel” can be translated as “Little Tudor”.

Aliona’s song means “Tired” in male singular form. That’s hardly attractive, imo. The most known name in the selection has such a little sad title for an entry. Maybe it’s a fun entry, who knows??

“Married to twins” – DUDES, how could *that* be accepted in the selection? It sounds i mm orra l, ii lle ga l and really, really e-ffed up!!!!

I mean Natalia was an iconic car crash (overrated for me, but Kirkorov’s money and that aspect probably helped “Sugar” reach that result). 2022, while not for me, had the quirkiness and the essence that Moldova usually brings to Eurovision and Pasha was, in my opinion,a very deserving returning artist in terms of song and performance quality, so I don’t see an issue if a returning artist brings a great song or they give something good/worthwile at least?
