Three acts qualified for the grand final of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix 2024 last Saturday, and tonight we found out who were the last three ones to join these acts in Trondheim.

18 acts were battling it out to become Norway’s next Eurovision entry, and six of them competed in tonight’s semi-final 3 for the last three golden tickets to the grand final on 3 February.

Among them were Eurovision alumni KEiiNO and Benedicte Adrian. KEiiNO won the televote in 2019 with “Spirit in the Sky”, while Benedicte Adrian competed in 1984 as part of the duo Dollie de Luxe with “Lenge leve livet”.

In the end, KEiiNO, MiiA and Annprincess qualified for the final.

How to rewatch MGP semi-final 3

Tonight’s show kicked off at 19.50 CET (18.50 GMT) and you can watch it back on NRK’s website or at NRK1.

Running order of MGP semi-final 3

  1. Vidar Villa – “MER”
  2. MISTRA – “Waltz of Death”
  3. Thomas Jenssen – “Take Me To Heaven”
  4. Annprincess – “Save Me” (QUALIFIED)
  5. MIIA – “Green Lights” (QUALIFIED)
  6. KEiiNO – “Damdiggida” (QUALIFIED)

Did you agree with the three that snatched the tickets to the grand final? Who do you want to win the final of Melodi Grand Prix 2024? Let us know in the comments down below!

I have a feeling someone might pull Tix this time around.

Keiino will get 2nd again and Gate 3rd.

My prediction for the final:

KEiiNO wins because Gåte and Gothminister will share the votes from the same demographics.

Keiino’ s song is taken from Swedish E-type – especially the “rap”.

The curse of Blanca Paloma is a real thing.
Both Ireland and Norway could be about to send a screaming woman with a song that has no melody.

Keiino’s live performance once again so entertaining

Gåte is a frontrunner, but it’ll definitely be a very tough final next week, am so hyped for this, such a super strong MGP year

i think Miia is also a dangerous outsider, stunning vocals and a stunning live performance

NRK has announced that Gåte has to re-write their song’s lyrics for the final because it takes inspiration from an old medieval tale, even if the material is « copyright free » according to NRK. The EBU has even agreed that Gåte could compete with the existing version of Ulveham.
This doesn’t make any sense. Stig Karlsen just wants to sabotage Gåte and send Keiino. Watch him put Gåte early in the running order. Ugh

They’re telling them now, Not before the show or even last week? Even Go_A had a lot more time to reinvent their song so it would be more original for Eurovision.

Very unprofessional from NRK. Gåte’s singer has probably rehearsed the song with these lyrics for 3-4 months. And now, 6 days before the show, she has to change the lyrics completely. It’s a lot of unnecessary added pressure for her live performance. Can’t they just change the lyrics if they win??

Unless NRK doesn’t want them to win. I wonder if by changing lyrics they mean change them to English

Maybe some don’t like Damdiggida, but no one can deny that KEiiNO’s performance was the most engaging and professional from all MGP this year. Gote could arguably have a better song (maybe) but the vile words against KEiiNO… y’all need to scrub your mouths with soap.

I predicted the other two also, but thought they deserved to go to the final

You know, this may be something of a backhanded compliment, but I’m surprised at how many Ulveham fans there are here. Wiwibloggs comments section is just one of those websites I expected to be fully on board with Keiino, especially after a strong performance. But I love it! I also love Ulveham. My only worry is the MGP jury, I feel like with such a technically smooth show, Keiino will win that, and itll be up to the televote. Make sure to note I said the MGP jury, not the ESC jury.

My two cents on the whole “last 3 entries = qualifying” controversy below. Beware, there’s some nuance here: I think NRK had a really strong idea of which songs people liked when they made the running orders. Most international fans don’t seem to know this, but Judge Tenderly was actually quite popular in Norway before the semi. If you look at the Wiwibloggs poll for Semi 2 when it talks about “if only Norwegians voted,” Judge Tenderly would actually still qualify with ease. So, to break some hearts – no, I don’t think Mileo or Farida would automatically have qualified… Read more »

I must be the only one that thinks that Gate could struggle to get much points either from televote or jury. It’s very risky, and I can see that some people love the folcloric aspect, but many folks don’t get that. I don’t see it getting massive support point wise in the grand final.

Keiino had far the best song. Instant and that note wow. Love it. In the year of Barbie this is relevant with of course a very large nod to Aqua. Just thinking if Keiino don’t win can they not cross the frontier to Denmark and perform for them. After listening to what Denmark are offering this year well you know…..

I just finished watching this. Wow, this was a much better heat than I had expected. Crazy high vocals from Thomas Jenssen, for instance. The “Waltz of Death” was suitably mysterious (even if it looked like the curtains were blowing off the railings). I’m really happy that Annprincess qualified – I thought the choreography for “Save Me” was outstanding, and it actually moved me. Miia… I can hear why some people like “Green Lights”, but it doesn’t do it for me, sorry. Of course, the three minutes of KEiiNO were choreographed to perfection. The moment where they all break free… Read more »

i either wanted Vidar or Mistra for the last ticket, Annprincess was meh to me, nothing very original about it, Annprincess is last place material next week i think

i thought Vidar really did great, and i loved the mysterious vibe of Mistra’s performance and honestly maybe not best vocals but her vocals suit this genre quite well

And again the last 3 in the running order, the 3 qualified for the third time in a row…
Miia was my fav of this heat and was the best tonight imo, Keiino did well too, not really a fan of the song but nobody can denies that they are really good performers. Now we have the entire line up for the final, and I think the thing will be between Gåte and Keiino but Super Rob must have a word to say too so nothing is alredy totally done imo.

I’m a big KEiiNO-fan. That’s why I will vote for Gåte next Saturday. This is definitly their worst MGP-entry, it will probably qualify for the ESC-final but make a crash-landing there around 20th place, and that might be the end for the group. Kudos for bringing something different from their two previous attempts but….no thanks. Sorry, dear KEiiNO!

KEIINO are one of a kind! I liked it (surely, not as much as Spirit in the sky) but they are definitely back! It is going to be a tough race between Keiino, Gåte and (gut feeling) Gothminister.

I am not sure if Damgigida will take Keiino to the Eurovision stage again but let’s see!

No suprises here! Honestly, I was really suprised by MIIA and KEiiNO’s performances! I hadn’t really rated their songs prior but MIIA performed well and I LOVED her staging and KEiiNO had a really quirky staging by choosing two members to be in that box. I loved the switch to the Damdiggida chorus inside the box though i fear we’ve had too many ‘boxes’ at Eurovision now! But it’s gone up in my regard and could tear down the house in Malmo!

KEiiNO isn’t even hiding that Alexandra Rotan is the diva of the group. What’s worse is, they made getting 291 televote points their whole personality now. I mean, they showed it in their introduction video of 2021 too, but back then it made sense. Back then, you looked back at their previous MGP and Eurovision adventure. Bringing it up now comes across as arrogantly saying “look at how good we are.”

That’s not fair. They are suppose to react to their most memorable moment. What else are they suppose to pick? They just played their song in a shopping centre—of course winning televote at Eurovision was the highlight of their career!
