Taking place at Palau Municipal d’Esports l’Illa de Benidorm, the show is being hosted by Eurovision 2014 star Ruth Lorenzo alongside Marc Calderó. Meanwhile, Ana Prada will be in the green room.

What do you think of semi-final 1? Do you believe any of these acts could go on to win the grand final? Let us know in the comments below.
WoW a National semi final that has over 400 reactions and there are people saying the Benidorm Fest IS loosing appeal and going down the hill.
From tonight’s semifinal, press has gone crazy with Almácor.
Esspain… you are safe for now. You may join the other girls.
I dont want to shade any artist/Song but being realistic Brillos Platinos has no chances of winning Eurovision or ending Up top 10. No Matter the staging, I dont see juries voting for It massively. I think It IS the kind of song that might get some 4,3,2,1s and an ocasional 6,7.
Anyway if he IS the chosen one I am happy.
Well, as I said in a comment below, it’s so funny seeing foreign eurofans complaining about the televote winners not going through while among the Spanish fans the question is: who the hell voted for Mantra?
TVE already said that they’ll try to implement a free voting app for next year. I think that says all.
Yo entendo los comentarios. Desde fuera se tiene que ver raro y no justo del todo. A mi me pasaría igual creo.
I did not know them but on Christmas they were on a music program and they sang another of their songs. I never listen to the radio and not only that song sounded familiar, I even knew the chorus so that means they are known in Spain and might have some fans.
The televote winner Mantra not qualifying is criminal! I felt so bad for the female vocal crying – she won the televote and learned at the same time that she’s not going to the final. Unbelievable. Benidorm WHAT are you doing???
Winning the public voting and still not even qualifying between an amateuristic bunch. What a dumb system the Spaniards got
Last year Cha cha cha swept the televoting and didn’t win. What kind of dumb system do Europeans have?
There’s a difference in winning a competition and qualifying in general, dingus
Imo, Sofia’s song was the best in this semi. However, the performance could have been enhanced with some pyros and different clothing
Nebulossa should change their staging to make it a party for old people so that that demographic can be finally represented more on stage!
Party for everybody dance. Come on and dance. Come on and boom, boom.
If Nebulossa wins will the ESC rule for no profanity apply for them? Maneskin had to change their lyrics and Citi Zeni couldn’t say “veggies and…” Z*rra is literally the title of the song and is sung throughout, and as a Spanish speaker “it’s not a term one usually hears in civilized conversation” (to quote the great Hermione Granger).
The difference is that Zorra has a double meaning that can be played with, the other examples that you present, do not
Well pussy actually has another meaning, but I think that nobody eats little cats.
Benidorm Fest isn’t serving us quality this year. I genuinely think it peaked in the first edition and has been going downhill since. You’d think that they would’ve stepped their game up after Chanel placed 3rd, but they’ve done the opposite.
Sofia Coll was the best of a bad bunch in my opinion. None of the songs in this semi were outstanding or deserving to go to Malmo. A huge disappointment overall.
Slomo was a bang average as a song–but EXCEPTIONAL as a total package.
Chanel was a top-level performer, stunning dancer and strong vocally.
These entrants this year have Slomo-level songs without a Chanel to deliver it.
Nebulosa is dated and cheap
I don’t understand the hype over Nebulossa?!
Sorry but her live perfomance wasn’t aesthetically pleasing.
And her dancers’ look were extremely awful…Sorry not sorry
His ass was out and that is good? This is beyond hideous
I’m not a prude but everything has a limit.
If Spanish fans want her, then Spain will be in the last position.
Nebulossa might be a hit in Spain because she sings and repeats the Word Zorra (yes, people are that basic) if instead of Zorra she said something else It would not be such a hit.
Since for non Spanish Eurofans the Word Zorra has no connotations, they see the song in itself and they see how weak it was.
To send Nebulossa to Esc would be sending a song for all the Wrong reasons.
The fact that the jury (50% international) ranked it first and higher than the spanish televote kinda invalidates your point
The jury was reacting to the public reaction. It happens all the time, even at Eurovision. If the public sings along the juries appreciate the performance much more.
Naah, you just haven’t seen the criteria they use to award a 12, 10, etc. It’s not just because “OMG people are chanting along! 12!”.
well with that logic we’d be going to Finland in may, not Sweden
Just today the jury at BeFest that they based their votes on the public’s reaction.
*admitted
Did Chacha end Up 23rd last year??
Is it just me or were in general the vocals not great last night? I think they had technical difficulties or something. But nearly all artists had a kind of soft voice
I think It was the sound effects and autotunes on the studio versions, we get usted to the songs with all that crap and then live they dont sound the same.
There were definitely sound issues
They’ve confirmed that there were sound mixing issues and they will look into it so that it doesn’t happen on Thursday again.
It was the microphone and audio mixing!
Let’s see how SF2 pans out tomorrow. I’m not entirely sold on Nebulossa, but realistically Angy’s only hope for victory is the jury doing a U-turn at the finals.
Fusa Nocta did quite well with jury despite terrible vocals and then she was dead last place in the final
Angy was leagues above everyone else in the semi. The jury points were kinda strange tbh
Angy will improve and the jury will appreciate her.
I think Nebulossa is great and deserves to win – if played well this can be a hit. I think it goes well as well with the whole ageism thing, and the performance is something to be proud of. Chose wisely Spain:)
Poor Mantra
Nebulossa was a fun song to watch, vocals are very weak though.
Is Spanish people go to sleep after 4 performances? Cause the Qualifiers is the first 4 songs lmao all the NQers is the the 5-8 songs it’s like the opposite of Norwa
I don’t know which program you watched. Sofía performed third, Miss Caffeina was fifth, and Angy and Nebulossa were the last two.
Yeah it’s a mistake, i just read that on X, i can’t find a way to delete my comment
And this is why you shouldn’t use X for anything but especially for “facts”
Oh nevermind, i’m wrong, i can’t a a way to delete my comment
It is true that once the winner of the Benidorm Fest 2024 and, therefore, Spanish representative in Eurovision is known, there is time to improve, change things, look for the best, but last night so many things were missing and there were so many mistakes that it is scary to think what is happening with the Benidorm Fest. The good thing, today there will be those who are banging their heads against the wall, today there will be those who assume responsibilities and today there will be those who say ‘this can’t happen again’. We will see…
None of the songs of semi 1 can come higher than 20th place but don’t tell the Spanish fans that, let them think Sofia Coll can be the new Chanel
lol really? they think that?? jajajaja
Just read the comments on YouTube. They were bullying the only entry that brought them a top 3 cause they wanted rigoberta (!) but they hype entries that have 0 Televoting appeal. Look at last year, they were certain for top 5
No, this is not true. Sofia Coll has been very much hyped by the foreign eurofans, but not by the Spanish ones. For example, she finished first in the Wiwibloggs survey, while the first one in the Eurovision Spain (main Spanish eurofans site), the winner was Almacor.
Same with the rankings you can see in Youtube: for foreigners, it is either Sofia or Jorge Gonzalez (although some go for St. Pedro); for the Spaniards, first is either St Pedro, Almacor or Nebulossa (Sofia normally gets 4th or 5th place after Maria Pelae).
So it will most likely be between st. Pedro and Nebulossa then? I just don’t think that Almacor will have enough jury points to win.
And also, how did Angy manage to do better than Nebulossa in the televoting yesterday? Is it because of the low viewing figures? That was the biggest surprise for me yesterday given that “Zorra” has gone viral in Spain.
Angy is a very well known person in Spain. She is popular since she was 15/16, she went through some problems… in general, she is the kind of person who is “loved” by the entire country. Plus the performance was very good.
And regarding it being between st Pedro and Nebulossa… we don’t know yet, who would have expected Nebulossa’s performance actually be that good? Everybody was scared that we would have another Fusa Nocta case.
Ah ok it makes sense then. It sounds like it was basically a vote of liking the artist than the actual song. I expect that this won’t play an equally big role in the final, although I guess she will still finish high in the public vote.
Zorra wasn’t performed the best and Spain is still a conservative country with mainly older men watching mainstream TV and that staging did NOT appeal to them.
Indeed, I don’t really trust the Spanish televoters but thankfully juries will send the song that has the best package and this so far is clearly “Zorra”. 🙂
I’m not convinced by the vocals.
The Spanish people want St Pedro.
This is generally true, yes, let’s see how he performs tomorrow.
What are you talking about? No Spanish person thinks Sofia Coll is the new Chanel. That’s coming more from the international eurofans and wiwi fan polls.
It really depends on Sofia’s look, vocals and staging, alongside of a revamp is chosen.
I don’t know why Spanish fans haven’t realised it after 2 years of BeFest but the winner is basically determined by the juries, which practically means that Angy and Sofia are out of contention. Nebulossa won semi 1 and until semi 2 takes place they are the ones to beat in the final.
I truly think that the winner will be next semifinal jury’s winner.
Might be indeed and remains to be seen. I’m just saying that everyone that thinks that Angy or Sofia have realistic chances to win should think twice.
Sofia idk but I reckon Angy still has a chance if she improves or if the juries change their rankings. It’s not impossible since the final lineup will be different.
If results follow the pattern of the last 2 years Nebulossa will be in the Top 2 actually. Tanxugueiras finished 3rd despite getting 70% of the televoting…
Yes, they should be in the top 2. But as the second semifinal seems to be the strongest one (with St Pedro, Almacor, Maria Pelae and even Jorge Gonzalez and Marlena), it may be that this doesn’t happen this year (if those in the second semifinal have good performances, of course).
I don’t really agree that semi 2 is stronger from a jury only perspective. Sure st. Pedro seems to be the talking point, but Almacor, Jorge and Marlena don’t have jury friendly songs and I think the jury will be reluctant with Maria Pelae after last year’s failure. It all remains to be seen but I think Nebulossa have built the right momentum to win it.
I don’t consider Zorra to be a jury friendly song, still it finished first with the jury in the first semifinal… so, who knows? Maybe Almacor’s performance is good and this jury give a good punctuation to him. We tend to see juries as people who only go for ballads, but it is not necessarily so.
Angy might still have a shot, but yeah jury determines the winner. Let’s not pretend that this is 50/50 system cause it’s not, the maximum numher of points the song can get from televoting and demoscopic jury is 16 points less than it can get from jury.
No, she doesn’t really have a chance unless there’s another jury in the final (see the Tanxuguieras example). The voting system in BeFest doesn’t allow a song to win unless it’s first with the juries or at least very close to first. Angy was 22 points behind Nebulossa in the jury voting and I can’t see how this will reverse.
I actually think Angy has more chances to win than Nebulossa but let’s see
You’re aware that you’re ignoring basic facts by saying that. We’re not speculating on the results – we have the actual results of the semifinal available to us.
The opposite actually! Angy scored better than Nebulossa in two of the categories, so depending on how the second semi final songs score in relationship to them, Angy could actually close Nebulossa’s lead or actually pass them. If Angy outscores a few of Thursday’s finalists (and those finalists outperform Nebulossa), she could still pull out a victory.
You are aware though that these 2 categories have equal value to the jury (technically jury has more value actually because they can assign more than 80 points to the first song while if a song wins both demoscopic jury and televoting they get 80 points). Angy finished 3rd with the juries yesterday 22 whole points behind Nebulossa. Than means that if the juries vote similarly in the final -which have been doing in the last 2 years- Angy will need to be at least 2 to 3 places in both demoscopic juries and televoting above Nebulossa to rank higher.… Read more »
The thing is Angy won the demoscópico and was the qualifier with the highest televote. If she got the 40 instead of Mantra it would have put her 7 points away from the lead. I think unless Sofia changes some things in the final she isn’t in contention sadly, but Angy still has a shot. It depends on how the juries behave with the semifinal 2 entries, which seem to be a stronger batch of songs. They could take some points away from Nebulossa in the final. All in all Angy’s not out yet!
Sure, you realise though that the fault of your argument is exactly that even if Angy won the televoting she would have the maximum possible 80 points from televoting+demoscopic but she would still be 7 points short. So where is going to find these extra points? These could only come from the juries meaning that the juries will need to change their minds completely. It’s possible but I wouldn’t bet on it. There is of course also the possibility that Angy will triumph on Saturday and win both votes while Nebulossa will tank both votes (unlikely since they were already… Read more »
I think these results were deserved; I can’t imagine though that the overall winner will come from this semi
SOI UNA ZORRA DE POSTAL
Remember semifinal public votes can be weird, especially this late on a Tuesday night. I can’t imagine many people voted, even less considering how the total of votes in Benidormfest decreased from 2022 to 2023. I will not be surprised if the public ranking look different in the final. I hope they fix the audio problems by then…
Lerica should have done much better based on their performance, staging and actually sounding vocally decent.
I’m not a fan of Angy’s song I’m sorry. It reminds me of Malta 2018 where they had a generic song but tried to sell it with a killer staging.
I’d rather take Zorra which maybe doesn’t leave as grand an impression but at least the song is an anthem and the butts will def stay in people’s minds XD
Agree. Angy’s song will not stand out I’m afraid.
They need to work on the guitar solo at the end. That’s the wow moment for me.
There’s no wow moment unfortunately. She’s a great performer but the song is completely forgettable.
The wow moment IS the guitar solo because up until that point there are many generic moments but then as a rock fan when you hear how hard the guitar goes your mind goes wild with the potential staging. Angy needs pyro for this bit.
A Zitti e buoni-esue pyro moment during the guitar breakdown would be incredible
Agree. Angy stands out in Spain because she is very well know here since she was a teenager, plus people know she went through a not so good time. People are happy to see her there and to see how well she performs. But in Europe… I don’t know.
I really like Angy as a performer but there were too many things happening in her performances for me. Too much. She didn’t need it
I do not know a single person who voted for Mantra. And you will not hear a drama in Spain about this (Tanxugueiras/Rigoberta Bandini like). Sorry to say this, but this is kind of fishy.
It’s actually funny to read the comments here on how the jury didn’t respect the televoting taste. While the comments in Spain are: who the hell actually voted for Mantra?
I’ve just read at vertele that TVE has revealed Mantra got 7020 votes from televoting and a 57% out of 12316 (calculated) and they insist there is nothing strange on them winning the semifinal televoting based on those data but to be honest that’s such a huge outlier and so easy to manipulate in such a small total accounting to around 11000€ (if no one actually voted for them) is that a lot?
Mantra sung well and their song is a lot like entries Spain used to choose prior to Benidorm Fest.
I could see this if they had won the demoscopic vote. For the televoting, where most of the voters are eurofans/Benidorm fest fans, I don’t see it: I understand Angy and Nebulossa perfectly. I don’t understand Mantra.
Why did Nebulossa not top the televote then? They literally had a hit out of Zorra with almost 2 million streams now. It must be to do with the live performance?
For me, the natural thing would have been:
1st – Angy, because she is really very popular in Spain since she was a teenager and her performance was very good
2nd – Nebulossa, because, as you say, it is a viral hit.
So it makes sense that Mantra votes are actually “not natural” because that would have been the expected result.
Plus, do you see any eurodrama around among Spanish fans? No, right? If their voting was “natural”, they were first in televoting and last for the jury, you would see it, as happened in the past with Tanxugueiras.
I love how out of reality the Spanish fans are. The Televoting was won by a song that didn’t even qualify and they hype Sofia Coll after THAT performance. Chanel was a one time thing, I am afraid.
For me Vicco was her heir even if she couldn’t dance.
I think we will never see someone like Chanel in BF in the next 10 years
I don’t think looking back the Spanish want another Chanel. She was bullied a lot by them after she won.
Nebulossa has the best song but alse the worst vocals. Angy was the best by far, she made a very emotional and enterteinent performance.Angy for the win
The staging for Zorra was also very polarising.
Sad about Mantra . Happy about Nebulossa. I really hope Angy doesn’t win. That song is too mehhh in my opinion.
Curious about St Pedro. Absolutely adore that song!!!
It’s got a lot of potential live but if the jury tank it and he has good vocals…we know what agenda they’re on…

I envoyed the show, the props were cool. Best vocals: Noam, Angy Best props: Sofia, Lérica Best songs: Zorra, Sé quien soy Best wow moments: the Butts, Angy and her dancers hugging, Sofia revealing the stairs. Angy won the night overall for me, Nebulossa it was very cool, very sexy, very brothel but I didn’t feel enough energy from the singer, Sofia needs more practice, the voice wasn’t good in some parts. Without a 2nd semi final so only based on tonight I would send Angy personally even if Nebulossa are among my favs but tonight I wasn’t enough convinced.… Read more »
The stairs were the reason why Sofia’s vocals weren’t the best like Mae Muller last year and the male dancers for Zorra didn’t fit with the theme of female and old people’s empowerment.
why was the audio so poor, you could barely hear some of them singing
You never saw a Spanish national selection I see.
It was better last year!
The pre-recorded backing vocals covering the leading vocalist in most of these competition has become a really annoying pattern in this Eurovision season.
I don’t expect any of them to win on Saturday. Almacor / St Pedro will be the real deal
Hopefully!
Or the song Caliente will do well.
Love Zorra, But That Was Such A Boring Performance. Angy To Malmö Please!
Fake
What A Big Looser You Are No One Want To See Your Comment
wtf are you on
The last two years of Benidorm had soooo many good songs, what happened??? Everything was so aggressively bland here, I didn’t like or care about anything! Unless they bizarrely put all the good songs in the 2nd semi, I feel like I might just write this year off as Spain going, “never mind, we’re calling Chanel a fluke and we’re not even gonna bother trying anymore” ’cause that’s genuinely what this felt like. Also, lol, I don’t even know why they bother letting the public vote at all when the juries overthrow their opinions every single time. Just give the… Read more »
If u listened to all the songs i genuienly think its a case of all the good songs are in semi 2
I feel like Chanel was a one time thing. Last year they should have sent Vicco because EeAa wasn’t exactly an inspiring song based on its results at Eurovision! I also think the new musical director Rayden is having problems behind the scenes!
This was not even a competition. Angy was a level above everyone else this semi. Bizarre how she didn’t win the jury..
Don’t disrespect our grandmother Nebulossa like that
I like their song but their performance didn’t live up to the song 🙁
The whole ‘dancing with demons’ staging could have been improved be all in all yes she was the best! I would like more moments with that guitarist please!
I must say I felt extremely annoyed by 0 gender diversity in the hall, couldn’t spot a single girl.
Girls didn’t like those songs. Men mainly make up the Spanish Eurovision fandom it seems
cant force people by gender to like things and to pay based on race, gender, sex, age and soooooooo. pls dont be wokeeee
Seems like this will be the last benidorm festt, too cheap and predictable
I fear that.
Sofia had very bad stage performance, it was too much and it looks very cheap. Such a shame because it was my favorite (still is – the song). On other hand, Angy was amazing and I’d cry too if I was Mantra, imagine winning the televote and not even qualify to the final. That’s heart breaking no matter if I was a fan of the song or not.
how is Angy’s staging any better than Sofia’s? All Angy did was walk around the stage and hug two dancers… That’s all it takes to gag Spaniards? Sofia danced, sang and had a staging representing Spanish surrealist art and culture, something no other contestant has done yet she gets criticised and called ‘bad’. Sure Angy has a great voice it seems like people only root for her bc she is famous and not bc her proposition stands out.
That was a cool night with the usual Spanish Eurovision drama. Mantra won the televote but didn’t qualify. I felt sorry for the crying girl. Am I the only one to think Miss Caffeina’s lead singer looks a bit like Marco Mengoni??? Angy & Miss Caffeina were my favourites tonight. Good luck, Spain.
So pleased to see Nebulossa win. I hope this one goes all the way to Eurovision in Sweden.
Not sure how Nebulossa would do at Eurovision nor how Zorra would translate into the stage.
The right 4 went thru. But it was a low bar. Most of the acts had vocal problems. You have to wander if they watched back their rehearsals on tape. Some of the outfits were cringe and the camera shots didn’t look right.
For me the show was good. Even though I did not love most of the songs, I enjoyed the show. Well done!
Angy wiped the floor with everyone else. What a performance
I hope she’ll be more confident on Saturday, that might be what costed her a bit more jury votes. While Sofia’s performance wasn’t the best the spirit and confidence were quite there.
Vicco got a better stylist since last year…I fully endorse
When the guest acts sounded 1000x better than the contestants–did they finally fix ‘the audio issues’ once the contestants were done singing
Vicco was lip syncing
Vicco had a TON back vocals. She obviously can sing, but that’s why she sounded better than the rest last night.
Nebulossa deserved to win! Very smart staging, and the audience singing along was just magical. I don’t understand the public vote but for once I won’t complain that the jury in Benidorm Fest basically decides everything!
It’s gonna be between st. Pedro and Angy, but since jury has in practise more power than televoting and demoscopic jury I guess he’ll win unless he flops in televoting.
Could Almacor or the Caliente song or another song from Thursday do well?
