At the start of the week we had six Eurovision 2024 songs confirmed. By the end of the weekend we’ll have 10. But before Spain, Norway, Malta and Ukraine join the mix we just had to ask: What’s your favourite Eurovision 2024 song so far?

The results are now in. After counting 3,959 votes, we have a winner. Ireland’s Bambie Thug has finished on top with 1,195 votes — or 30% of all those cast.

It’s been a long time since Ireland won any Wiwibloggs poll. Bambie’s stage show may be divisive, but what matters is that it’s generating a lot of love with fans praising the star’s creative staging, original song and arresting Goth look.

The non-binary artist replaces France’s Slimane as our readers’ favourite — for now anyway.

Slovenia’s Raiven also made an impact, debuting in our poll in second place with “Veronika”.

  1. 🇮🇪 Ireland: Bambie Thug with “Doomsday Blue”: 30.18%, 1,195 votes
  2. 🇸🇮 Slovenia: Raiven with “Veronika”: 20.51%, 812 votes
  3. 🇫🇷 France: Slimane with “Mon amour”: 19.83%, 785 votes
  4. 🇱🇺 Luxembourg: Tali with “Fighter”: 17.43%, 690 votes
  5. 🇦🇱 Albania: Besa Kokëdhima – “Zemrën n’dorë”: 7.12%, 282 votes
  6. 🇨🇿 Czechia: Aiko with “Pedestal”: 4.93%, 195 votes
Total Votes 3,959

With the semifinals having televote only, she has already qualified. I don’t care if you like this fact or not. It’s the objective truth.

Just desperate attention seeking, can’t even listen more than 10 sec of this whining. Horrible! But seem’s to be enough for creating fuzz to qualify with public vote?

Quick question about Bambi: the “avada kedavra” is from Harry Potter. She can’t just use that can she? Any legal experts here who can explain? Pretty sure J. K. Rowling can sue her for that. And JK is a big ESC fan, so she’ll definitely see it.

J. K. Rowling didn’t invent it; she just adapted it into English from the (probably) Aramaic “abracadabra.” Apparently, it dates back to the 2nd century, if not earlier: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abracadabra

It’s nice to see a song that wasn’t #1 in its country’s fan poll topping the Eurovision fan poll. Too often people get super insistent on which song should win a selection and they let those feelings continue past the selection. Glad that isn’t apparently the case here.

Just shows how trash the Eurovision has become. So sad.
Good songs can’t do well nowadays, unless a legend like Loreen sings them. You have to be “different” and “unusual” and people (with very low IQ and possible brain damage) will praise you.

Irish Eurovision fan living abroad for years, and this is an outstanding entry for Ireland – song, voice, performance, visuals….for Ireland the first challenge is to make it into the finals, and of all the songs in the Irish Eurosong competition this is, IMO, the only one that could and will do so

I think its kinda weird as Irish person that they are NO.1 im not saying Bambies song is bad (it’s my number 2 after Slovenia). I never really get my hopes for to qualify even if I love the song because it never happens BUT I’m more optimistic this year then ever because 80% of countries who were in our Semi in 2018 are in this semi 2024 its kinda wild to me actually and we got 100 points in the televote somehow that year….

I think she could do very well at Eurovision. If she can translate the staging to the bigger stage then I think she could potentially get left hand side of the scoreboard.

No -it’s not the only criteria but it it is an important one. This is a tv show and acts need to be memorable so the voters seeing them fit the first time remember them when voting. It also depends on why an act ‘stands out’- I feel the Bambie package stands out for the right reasons- the song is unique, the vocals are mesmerising and the visuals are captivating.

Bambi’s genre would never be on my radar, a few weeks ago I dismissed it as relying on shock value but I’ve been converted after seeing them on Eurosong, There’s a lot more to the song than first meets the eye and it’s clear they know how to put on a show.

I honestly doubt Ireland will qualify. Sorry. I understand the song is different and it “stands out”. But it does not stands out in a good way. I see zero quality in it. And just look at the list of countries in their semifinal. I cannot see Serbia, Croatia, Cyprus, Portugal, Luxembourg and a few other countries even considering voting for this! There will be a lot of dissapointed people after they announce 10 finalists and Ireland not being one of them. Sorry once more.

You do realise UK, Sweden (Bambie is half-Swedish), Australia, Germany, Iceland, Finland and Lithuania are all voting in this SF, right? Portugal sometimes send points Ireland’s way too. Ireland is a certain qualifier imo. Watch the video on YouTube where the bad sound production from the RTE studio is fixed and you will see that Doomsday Blue is perfect for the Eurovision stage.

Don’t know what it’s going to do in Malmö but at least it stands out. For the moment it is indeed the song I find the most interesting and by far as all the other songs are very safe, except for Slovenia.
I really hope we’ll get really good songs in the coming weeks. At least, nothing is too bad either as for now.

Sherlock, it’s RTÉ, you know they couldn’t afford Sheldon and Amy, it would be Sheldon and Amy’s hairdressers, sisters, boyfriends uncle who will be presenting. Also, not only will the winner of ESC 2025 get the coveted glass microphone, they will also get a Johnny Jacket and Ballymaloe Relish gift Hamper.

Good ratings. However, outside Ireland, which will be hit or miss, the other songs are weak. Slovenia has potential, but they need an amazing staging, or they are NQ in the first semi easily. Czech and Albania are plain bad, Luxembourg had so many better choices, but since they are back after 30 years they might qualify. France is ok but same old, don’t see an appeal for this song, it is out for a long time, it created no buzz at all.

“No buzz at all” but still 9,2M streams to date for “Mon Amour” on Spotify, and an intense broadcast campaign on general radios in France which is a premiere for a French Eurovision song since 2019 and “Roi”.

Useless to create buzz in this fandom so whatever but you’re wrong it has appeal and an audience but the average eurofan blinded only by the “original” and quirky entries can’t see that. Almost 10 million streams on Spotify but no appeal?
