The time has come for Latvia to begin the process of selecting its act for Eurovision 2024. On Saturday night, 15 artists competed in the semi-final of Supernova 2024, all hoping to secure a spot in next week’s grand final. But in the end, only ten of them made it through.
The show was hosted by Lauris Reiniks and Ketija Šēnberga.

Both a jury and the public were involved in determining the results. Out of the 15 acts, the ten to advance to the grand final were:

Dons will win it. Hollow it’s an amazing song in both the English and Latvian versions. I really love the latvian version.
Does he need to improve the staging? Yes, he does. Yes he has to do something different in order to get the best possible outcome in the competition and even to achieve a top 10 placement. But the song is strong and he can effortlessly advance in the final.
I expected his voice to be more impactful. Certainly his staging needs to improve.
For me, Katr?na Gupalo has the edge based on live vocals and staging alone. I can imagine a strong televote result for the Cat’s Song but not so much for Hollow.
The cat song was a nice catchy song but her perfomance last night was yelling joke entry.
Dons oozing Ed Kowalczyk moments of pure greatness!!!!!! Hollow is such a great ballad
I can’t picture “kur?” going to Eurovision, but it is a gem and the performance was everything I hoped for.
We need to talk about Alekss Silver’s absolutely flawless vocal performance on a song that has no business having that kind of vocal performance on it.
Agreed! All he now needs is to dance more. Would be more than happy if Latvia sent him and i’d vote for him because I actually listened to the song more than once!

Looking at qualifiers and where they were in the running order, Latvians have even more goldfish memory than Norwegians 🙂
The showed televote results briefly and Funkinbiz, who performed 13th, was last by a margin, which means most likely the juries saved them. Don’t think it was the fault of the running order.

If I had a nickle for every song about being a cat in this national final season, I’d have ten cents. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Rim Tim Tagi Dim mentions cats but it isnt about cats which is why I didn’t vring it up here. That one is about moving away from home (specifically in the context of young people feeling like they dont have a future if they stay in croatia).

Mindbreaker was an entertaining stage show. I think it might snag a qualification if the folks who loved Eat Your Salad are voting
Saint Levi?a is not a very good rapper, but she is a great singer. Im not sure why she didnt duet with someone to do that part.
