For the third time in a row, microstate San Marino is thinking big with Una Voce per San Marino — the country’s Eurovision selection show. After an evening with spectacle, it was determined that Megara will represent San Marino in Malmö with “11:11”.

This year’s Una Voce per San Marino saw a number of Italian legendary artists compete with new names. While Italian and Sanremo star Achille Lauro won the show’s first edition in 2022 and new name Piqued Jacks took the trophy last year, San Marino is yet to qualify using the show. Will this be their lucky year?

You could watch Una Voce per San Marino 2024 via SMRTV’s official website.

Una Voce per San Marino in short

Over the past week, we saw 129 shortlisted acts battle it out in semi-finals as well as a small final among San Marinese acts.

A total of sixteen acts, including eight established names and eight emerging acts, performed to earn the right to represent San Marino in Malmö. In addition, a song written by AI was also competing.

In Una Voce per San Marino 2024, we saw amongst others Sanremo 2024 star Loredana Bertè, long-time Italian songstress Marcella Bella and Eurovision 1997 act Jalisse.

A jury determined the winner of the show. There was no public vote.

Una Voce per San Marino 2024: Results

  1. Megara – “11:11”
  2. Loredana Bertè – “Pazza”
  3. La Rua – “Governo del cuore”
  4. Aimie Atkinson – “A Dare for Love”
  5. Booom! – “Dance Like This”
  6. Marcella Bella – “Chi siamo davvero”
  7. Dana Gillespie – “The Last Polar Bear”
  8. XGiove – “Nostalgia”
  9. Mate – “Big Mama”
  10. Jalisse – “Il Paradiso è qui”
  11. Masala & Foresta – “Paranoia”
  12. Daudia – “With You”
  13. Aaron Sibley – “Human”
  14. Wlady, DJ Jad, Corona & Ice MC – “Questa volta”
  15. Kida – “Invincible”
  16. Dez – “Freedom”
  17. Pago – “Il Protagonista”

I will congratulate San Marino for its loyalty to the Contest and we need San Marino (and other microstates) in the contest.

However, I feel they need to reassess their voting criteria. The last years (since Senhit), their songs are almost unlistenable, very low quality and very bad production.

I did not watch any of the other songs but clearly there should have been better songs than this horrific one (among the I don’t know how many entries).

Good luck San Marino! Please find your way again! 🙂

Jonas, yes. You are right. But you cannot state the level of knowledge of everybody commenting. Maybe the guy has a degree in musicology, or is a vocal coach and has much more knowledge on the matter than you and me. I also don’t like the song selected by the jury of San Marino. But at least she sings. The song from Croatia doesn’t sing at all. He talks. So out of the two, despite I don’t like both, I prefer San Marino than Croaria. But you know I watch eurovision from the seventies, from Mia Martini, Tozzi & RAF,… Read more »

There’s something so very backwards in this.

Yes, I do. Again not my cup of tea but at least I could listen to those songs. In the last 3 years, I feel I can’t listen to them. No offence to the artists, I appreciate everyone’s efforts but as a fan, I am sorry, the San Marinese songs from 2022 onwards are very bad in my opinion. No wonder they fail to qualify.

The “your way” in your message means the San Marino’s way or a way by which they choose songs that you like??

first non-english entry since 2013 (2022 had english phrases)

first spanish language entry for them

In the end 3 artists never showed up to the semi-finals which meant 126 artists (not 129), including the 6 San Marinese acts, competed for 8 of the 17 spots in the final. Yes, I watched all of it 🙂

This is horrendous both to the ears and to the eyes, and in no ways representative of San Marino.

I agree, the song is bad, the staging is bad, the production and performance are bad. I literally can’t believe that there were people who said “Yes, this is our winning entry!”. There’s something wrong with their jury.

A Tamburitza Lullaby. I like, it’s catchy etc. but lacking some sort of wow factor onstage.

Little people being used as comedy props is a bit undignified, and makes me a little uncomfortable… but they are doing it with their full consent, I assume, so that makes it okay? I guess. The whole thing is deliberately undignified, that is the point.

Song 6 (Pavel “Do Mjesca”) – I admit I have a soft spot for this old sound. I gain personal enjoyment in playing those double-octave melodies on the piano. It’s also wonderful just to see a band have a good time, and I love the silly backing track too. 🙂

Anna Banana

I think the problem with the Croatian music scene is that sound wise it has not progressed at all. It has been the same generic pop for over 20 years. No experiments, no ethno melodies, no modern twists. Serbia is so much more advanced than Croatia music wise. All young Croatians mainly just listen to Serbian music while the older generations complain about that. Like just make better music…

It’s really interesting how people view this show as poor production. Let’s remind ourselves this is a tiny country with a tiny tv station and the percentage of their budget spent on this is probably comparatively huge compared to what some of the major broadcasters across Europe spend on their selection shows. I applaud them for even entering the contest.

i’ve seen all 4 semis and they were full of quality stuff (129 acts total!) – believe it or not,i’ve never seen a complete! NF with so many interesting acts in nearly all styles of music – poptrash – metal – ethno – pop – electro – retro – ballads and some groovy genremixes.
thank you,san marino for the show!

Oh this is nice and I like that is quite different from everything else we’ve got this year. I really liked their last year’s BeFest entry and this is at a similar level. Kenzy has also a strong voice and good stage presence. Not sure how well it will do but it will certainly have its fans. On another note, I would like them to add some more Italian in the song, not because it’s San Marino but mostly because it sounds like it fits the song well. Good luck!
