Sixteen countries will compete in Semi-Final 2 of Eurovision 2024. But only ten will qualify for the grand final. Who deserves to win — and which nine acts deserve to follow them to the Saturday finale?

Before all of the songs dropped, this semi-final was considered the easier of the two. But if you have faith in the betting agencies, then things are actually looking quite stacked. Five countries that are currently in the Top 10 of the odds to win the grand final will be competing in this semi. They are: Switzerland, The Netherlands, Belgium, Greece and Israel. (For comparison, Semi-Final 1 only has two acts in the Top 10 — Croatia and Ukraine; the Automatic Qualifiers of Italy, France and Sweden round out the list).

But before they can even think about the grand final, these acts will have to survive semi-final 2.

Eurovision 2024: Semi-Final 2 line-up

Running Order

During the semi-final allocation draw, the 16 competing countries were drawn into the first half or second half of this semi. Producers are now deciding the precise running order based on making the most interesting show (considering things like visual flow) and also practicality (the time and difficulty of moving acts and their props on and off the stage).

First half

🇦🇱 Albania

🇦🇲 Armenia

🇦🇹 Austria

🇨🇿 Czechia

🇩🇰 Denmark

🇬🇷 Greece

🇲🇹 Malta

🇨🇭 Switzerland

Second half

🇧🇪 Belgium

🇪🇪 Estonia

🇬🇪 Georgia

🇮🇱 Israel

🇱🇻 Latvia

🇳🇱 Netherlands

🇳🇴 Norway

🇸🇲 San Marino

Automatic qualifiers

These countries will perform their acts in full during the semi-final. However, because they are all automatic qualifiers, viewers will not be able to vote for them. Viewers in these countries will vote in this semi-final.

🇪🇸 Spain

🇮🇹 Italy

🇫🇷 France

Now we want to know what you think. We’ve got two polls below: one to name the winner, and one to name the qualifiers.

Who should win Semi-Final 2 of Eurovision 2024?

Who is your winner? Use this poll to vote for your absolute favourites who you’d like to see win.

You can vote for as many countries as you want, but you can only submit your votes ONE time. Be sure to click the box next to each country you want to support before hitting submit.

Who should qualify from Semi-Final 2 of Eurovision 2024?

And which 10 countries do you want to see qualify for the final? Support your ten qualifiers by voting for them in the poll below.

As above, you can only submit your votes ONE time. Be sure to click the box next to each country you want to support before hitting submit.

So who did you pick? Who do you think benefits from the fact there is no jury here? Let us know in the comments below.

It’s not my favorite, but for some reason Switzerland gives me strong winner vibes, very much like Gjon’s tears. I think if he has great live vocals and impactful staging to go with the musical theater style of the song, ge could do it.

I didn’t know that the Israeli secret service is busy changing the number of Internet votes related to Eurovision. First the unexpected loss of the Palestinian guy’s song in Iceland and now Israël is to win the second semi? Don’t these guys have better things to do?

Ah yes, because there’s absolutely nothing for them to do rather than hacking numbers in polls in ESC blogs. There’s no war on 2 fronts, no hostages to look for, ESC blogs are the priority right now. Why Israel didn’t qualify 2 years ago if the “Israeli secret services” are apparently obsessed with ESC?

I believe Austria, Switzerland, Belgium and Netherlands are constantly the most ambitious nations in Eurovision judging by the quality they have been sending in recent years (for Italy it comes naturally). And this year is no exception so I’m sure they will all comfortably sail through. Greece is the other sure qualifier and I hope Armenia will charm the audiences to join them in grand final

For me, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Georgia, Greece, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland. I think Estonia has a shot though, but Albania, Czechia, Latvia, and San Marino are probably non-qualifiers. Israel will probably take one of those spots because of the controversy. Poland last year has shown there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

I feel that a shocking NQ could be Georgia (the song is good but too loud and that usually puts off the audience) or Norway (I loooove the song but it’s tricky for such songs to get an instant vote from first time viewers). Instead, we may see Albania or Czechia going through. For Albania, that might be a matter of diaspora vote (sorry, Albania, but even the revamp does not make the song stand out). You do aware that Hammas kidnapped over 250 civilians on October 7th and the only way to get them back is to enter there? You do aware that Israel avoided doing so many years because they didn’t want it to lead to a lot of casualties on both sides (IDF soldiers as well)?

If Ukraine had enough power to run the war on Russia land, they would have move the war their in a heart beat. The fact that Israel is stronger doesn’t make them as the aggressor.

Indeed, this is the REALITY OF WARS. It can’t be avoided. I believe in world peace, so what? Does the world allows that to actually happened? NO. Reality knock on our table everyday and if we will not deal with it, we will be gone. Not gonna happened. There’s no such thing disproportionate reaction in wars. You started a war, deal with whatever consequences it has. Specially after the horrific evil stuff they’ve made, and celebrated them. Israel isn’t providing food, never said that. But Israel allows aid tracks to come in Gazza everyday. Hammas stealing most of it on… Read more »

Exactly my 10. I think it will be a hard fight between Estonia, Albania and Denmark on the last spot.

I really want both Denmark & Latvia to qualify but sadly I don’t thing that would be the case. And I’m 80% sure The Netherlands is winning this semi, especially if EBU will put them to close the show. Also, depending on the performance I see Switzerland, Greece, Austria and Norway fighting for the top 3.

Oh wow, this semifinal is so strong!

Here are my predictions (not necessarily what I like most).

DEFINITELY QUALIFYING: Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland

MIGHT QUALIFY >50% chance: Norway (tricky song although I love it), Armenia, Israel, Denmark

MIGHT QUALIFY <50% chance: Austria, Latvia, Malta (with a solid performance)

DEFINITELY NOT QUALIFYING: San Marino, Estonia, Czechia (unless their revamp is much better and the performance is solid), Albania

Switzerland now gives me a Netta Toy vibe with some of the lyrics

Norway is so underrated, Gunnhild definitely oozes Floor Jansen slayness vibes for me

i remain having hopes for San Marino and i think Estonia is also gonna bring same fun vibes as Netherlands and in a 100% televote semi i don’t see why both party bangers can’t both qualify

Albania is a sure nq yes i agree, the albanian at least made it feel more authentic now its in english, its 3 minutes of nothingness

Why do you think Norway is a tricky song? To me, that’s the safest qualifier out of all songs participating this year. We saw it live, it is standing out, everything is perfected to the fullest.

Maybe some people don’t like the genre, but there is no scenario for this to be a NQ.

I looove Norway and Gåte. However, I feel that it is a song many people may not relate to instantly with the first listen. That’s my only concern. A few of my friends (semi-eurofans, not like me ;p) told me “Oh it’s loud and chaotic like Spain last year!”. Is that true for some or for many? I don’t know.

I personally adore the song and have it on my playlist and will vote for it in May.

People who compare it with Spain didn’t even listen to it or they are completely musically illiterate. I heard the same, but some people will se quality there and vote. There were lots of people shocked and appaled by Maneskin and they won easily.

Ulveham is a very different song. I love it. So much power and magic on the stage. Norway is hard to predict this year. I can see this be top 5 but also flop in semi. Hope people see good this entry is ? please vote for Gate!!

Not that they are the same (level) but Georgia failed last year although I loved the song and performance. It was just too loud (even for me at points). That apparently puts off many people.

Yeah not too sure about Latvia’s qualification anymore. Seems like the bad luck of being in a better semifinal has transferred once again to Latvia this year. I do feel like we deserve to qualify this year, because I genuinely love the song but you never know with this contest. I just hope Dons creates a magical performance that we can be proud of and hopefully sneak into the final.

This semifinal is harder to predict compared to Semi 1 because we didn’t see 8 out 16 songs live, and almost all of them are favorites to get through (no, we didn’t see the Netherlands either, that was a collage of live footage, but not live performance with live vocals). Therefore, it is clear that at least 2-3 songs from the perceived top won’t be able to translate live what we saw in music videos. There are two completely safe Qs here, for different reasons – Norway and Israel. Norway is a contender to win it all, and even if… Read more »

Israel is a sure Q just for the media hype it will give, even negative publicity is publicity honestly and we always need a villain in this show (usually it was Russia) but now this year it is Israel with their own Polina Gagarina or Tolmachevy Twin sort of act

I terribly doubt Israel. So many dance bops then you have this ballad among them and it would be slept on. And not to mention the sparsely available support from 100% public vote system because their reputation was destroyed due to their involvement in war.

I don’t think it’s a bad thing for a ballad to be surrounded by upbeat song. Quite the opposite, it will stand out even more.

From who? The whole of Norway? whole of Denmark? Everyone in Belgium? All of Greece? Your guaranteed votes are from France, mmmm maybe that’s it. Winner of Semi-Final 2 no, a qualifier maybe. (predict 8th to 10th place). If not it’s a no from Europe.

Imagine 1st half of semi 1 and 2nd half of semi 2 together… that would have been the REAL blood bath… first half of semi 1 is sooo much better than the 2nd half…and I feel that the 2nd half of semi 2 is a whole lot better than the first half…. i wouldnt be surprised if we saw more songs qualifying from 1st half compared to 2nd half for the 2nd time only since 2014 in semi 1 (previous 10 years) – last and only time it happened was in the 2nd semi in 2016 when 6 songs from… Read more »

100% For Sure Qualifiers Norway – Nothing else like it, second half, impactful staging, there is no doubt. Estonia – most likely semi closer, massive party impact and will be a televote favourite. Probable Qualifiers Netherlands – Another fun act, probably colourful staging as well, and the hardstyle will go down well, but we havent really heard it live yet. Israel – well it is not a bad song at all. Belgium – IF it is performed well the last minute will make an impact Latvia – Just have a feeling it will come late in the running order, and… Read more »

This semi will be interesting to watch because of the number of small televote duels between the similar toned entries: Greece vs Armenia – female sung ethnopop Czechia vs San Marino – rock songs (btw San Marino is a lock for spot nr 11) Belgium vs Latvia – male ballads Netherlands vs Estonia – nonenglish “crazy entries” Malta vs Georgia – female bops Albania vs Denmark vs Israel – anthemic songs Switzerland, Norway and Austria have sort of unique feel that give them slight edge of not competing for same voters (unless they mess up live version *looks at Austria*).… Read more »

Belgium and Switzerland are my fav tracks this year along with Slovenia. So I don’t care much about the rest. In general super outdated sounds in the full selection. The songs that would make the final interesting for me are Norway, Armenia. Will be happy to see Latvia. I can ‘t understand why people kind of skipping those quality offers (Hollow, also Aija) and focus on cheap fast music and autotune. And Chechia. Just for no reason. Cause the music experts around don’t like it, I like enjoy it more. Mixed feelings about Israel. I genuinely support Israel, I kinda… Read more »
