Roll over semi-final 1, it’s time for the acts of semi-final 2 to do their thing. On Monday, eight artists will have their first rehearsals on the Eurovision 2024 stage. They’re the acts competing in the first half of the second semi-final.
They’ll have 30 minutes to test out the stage to see how their graphics and camera angles are coming together. It will also allow them to start working out their jitters as they fill the arena with their voices for the very first time.
Throughout the day the EBU will release photos and short TikTok snippets. We’ll try to update this post as things drop. Regardless, please share your thoughts in the comments section throughout the day!

Eurovision 2024 rehearsals | Day 3
1. 🇲🇹 Malta: Sarah Bonnici – “Loop”
@eurovision Malta’s @Sarah Bonnici has got the m-m-m-moves 🇲🇹 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Sarah Bonnici is all sparkles on the Malmö stage, wearing a glittery silver bodysuit. She’s joined by four backing dancers in black leather jackets and trousers. Even within the short TikTok clip, it’s clear that the Maltese team have put together a proper show — we see varying LEDs, multiple lifts, floor work, blindfolds, splits, and pyro. This is certainly set to get the semi-final off to a flashy start.

2. 🇦🇱 Albania: BESA – “TITAN”
@eurovision A TITAN of a first rehearsal from Albania’s @Besa 🇦🇱 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
The theme of Eurovision 2024 appears to be large shoulders. BESA channels intergalactic warrior with her light blue stage costume, embellished with silver chain work. The Albanian star has two backing singers and three dancers with her — all dressed in grey with spikes on their elbows/shoulders. The dancers interact with BESA as she stands centre stage, and they also appear on the LED screen in the back. It looks like we’ll see a mic stand appear for the second verse thin air and then disappear again at a later point in the song.

3. 🇬🇷 Greece: Marina Satti – “ZARI”
@eurovision Put your hands up! @SATTI just achieved pop perfection at Greece’s first rehearsal 🇬🇷 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
It was previously revealed that Marina’s performance would be done in one camera shot, and now we get to see this in action. The Greek star starts downstage with a pulsing white light. But once she joins her four dancers, the LEDs explode with colour. At one moment, they all pull out white handkerchiefs and perform traditional Greek dance moves. Style wise, Marina is in a two-piece pink outfit with knee-high boots, whilst her dancers are all in black.

4. 🇨🇭 Switzerland: Nemo – “The Code”
@eurovision When @nemothingsss said “Welcome to the show,” they meant it! Here’s how their first rehearsal looked 🇨🇭 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Nemo is dressing for life in the Swiss mountains, donning a pink and white fur jacket — witch matching fur boots. Their performance centres around a circular platform that tilts from one side to another. Nemo walks up, slides down and jumps off it throughout the song, all whilst hitting the operatic notes perfectly — someone’s been doing their cardio training. The lighting is rather dark with white strobes, adding to the overall atmosphere.

5. 🇨🇿 Czechia: Aiko – “Pedestal”
@eurovision You say icon, we say @Aikomakesmusic! Either way, there’s no coming down off that Pedestal 🇨🇿 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Czechia’s rehearsal is the first TikTok where we actually get 40 seconds of continuous footage. The cubes are lowered for the start of the performance to give it an intimate setting, before then being gradually lifted ahead of the first chorus. Aiko takes centre stage, with four dancers on each side of the cross moving around her. Red is the overall colour theme of the lighting, though we also see grey graphics of a band playing on the LED screen for the chorus.

6. 🇦🇹 Austria: Kaleen – “We Will Rave”
@eurovision Rum-di-dum-dum rehearsals have started for Austria, and the lasers are out for @kaleenmusic 🇦🇹 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Kaleen turns the Eurovision stage into a warehouse rave. The Austrian team have come with an extra inverted-pyramid-shaped lighting rig that shoots lasers during the performance. Kaleen begins with a long white coat that is removed to reveal a stone-encrusted leotard and boots. During the instrumental sections, the star busts plenty of moves and is hoisted up into the air by her backing dancers. They’re certainly ready to put on a show!

7. 🇩🇰 Denmark: SABA – “SAND”
@eurovision @SABA got to have her first run-through of SAND at Malmö Arena, and it was an epic display 🇩🇰 #Eurovision2024 ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Whilst her Dansk Melodi Grand Prix performance lacked the titular element of the song, SABA has now officially added sand for her Eurovision performance. The Danish singer pours it out of her hands during the first pre-chorus; meanwhile, the second pre-chorus features an image of SABA appear on the LED background with virtual sand particles. The other key element to the performance is fog, which covers the cube-shaped pedestal SABA is stood on and creates a mystifying feel in combination with the amber lighting.

8. 🇦🇲 Armenia: LADANIVA – “Jako”
@eurovision Bags of energy and bursts of colour – @LADANIVA ♬ original sound – Eurovision
Cubes are certainly the in-thing this year. LADANIVA have a central staging piece constructed out of this shape, with instrumentalist Louis stood on top alongside a number of other musicians. Singer Jaklin performs in front, behind and on the construction during the three minutes, giving the audience a view from every angle. Later on, the LEDs come to life with images of Jaklin as well as a multitude of chickens. LADANIVA have definitely infused the performance with their fun, colourful energy.

Whoever thinks Malta deserves to remain in the semi needs to have a chit chat with their doc.
Raiven, Kaleen, Marina… None of my main girls this year seems to disapppoint. Woo-hoo!
I’m not really impressed with Denmark or Armenia.
Why does every rehearsal need to be a dress rehearsal nowadays? To supply “content” for TikTok and generate buzz
It’s a shame the acts can’t just wear jeans and a T shirt. Instead of “rehearsing” under the lens of a public pressure cooker.
They want to see how it works on camera.
Yeah… but there will be more time for that. Actual “dress” rehearsals. I have problem with acts wearing their full gear if that’s what they want. I just don’t like them being contractually obligated to. Or that they feel pressure to live up to social media expectations. To be judged on a rehearsal means it is NOT a rehearsal, but part of the actual show.
Which reminds me that Rest of World will be voting on rehearsal footage. Silly.
have NO problem with acts wearing their full gear
maybe they also want to check how the monitor works with the outfit. Can help a lot with the technician. I guess the participants get’s an opportunity to see what it will look like on TV and they want to take this opportunity.
Since you seem to love Windows95Man he has told, that he did not know what he will be allowed to wear on stage before this first rehersal. So Finnish delegation had a huge pile of different coloured jockstaps, briefs and boxers and he wore the smallest one to the first rehersal and waited for the EBU’s undie inspector to tell if that was ok or not.
There are many divisive factors with some of the biggest odds favourites this year…outfits, vocals, silliness… i still believe none of them don’t really feel like a Eurovision winner. I still think France has the better chance to be a runaway jury winner this year based on vocal capability and the familiarity in the song, and televotes will be split between the OTT-style of songs. Also Serbia looks like a safe bet for top5 as well now, and definitely Norway will be the darkest horse of the year, they way things turn out right now….
Closing off the day… Denmark was a nice surprise, the staging elevates the song to the level where it may qualify. The song per se is no masterpiece but it’s effective. Let’s see! Armenia on the other side was a bit flat. To be honest, the song is repetitive and flat at times (although I appreciate the ethnic sounds). Long story short, if you have a good song, staging can elevate it a lot if your song is not that good, good staging can elevate it to certain level only. I still believe the song is the #1 factor. Even… Read more »
Armenia was by far the best today. Will get the people up dancing on their feet in the arena.
What staging? They didnt change anything. She is still standing on a box.
Switzerland were 3.1 earlier today but have slipped to 3.4 in the odds, suggesting that betters have seen something they didn’t like
I love your dedication to the bets, especially those slipping. You justify your name. 🙂
I don’t. I love how Wiwi have really cut back on odds articles. The gambling industry is shameful.
100% agree. Gambling is so destructive
SwiSwitzerl’s song is quite overrated and the stage itself is just mess; looks like a Pink flamingo singing over a white bir circle 🙁
This entry doesnt deserve to win.
What can we do? he choose this outfit, it could have been worse. Will it be a jury winner? will the public think it’s another circus act, a weird show they can laugh at?
If he doesn’t win we will blame the outfit for years.
Nemo might wear a totally different outfit for the next rehearsal.
It wont change anything; the song is still overrated and cringe
Ladaniva is so refreshing! The more I listen to their song, the more I think it could actually get quite a good result with the televote. I honestly wish them a top 10. Pure fun without being embarrassing *wink wink*. Plus it brings some very welcomed culture to this contest.
Good news for the Netherlands, they can win the contest after seeing the Swiss outfit and smiling. Nemo looks like Guildo Horn for Germany in 1998. People at home will think it’s a circus act. Please Nemo wear something else, this is not always just artistic choice – it is a song contest and you want to make an impact. Denmark – she dosen’t seems too happy, I think she just wants to do it and forget about it. I think she can qualify. Austria – Chanel’s for the poor, but of course I like it. Not much to choose… Read more »
Netherlands can get points from juries the song is trash
I loved Guildo! But this… Is totally different. He looks like a furby lol. He’s still super dynamic on stage and very talented. It will be exciting to watch regardless of what he’s wearing and maybe that’s the point. The extreme outfit could add to the drama.
They/them
My favourite today are Malta, Armenia, Greece and Austria. I think Czechia and Denmark were very empty. Switzerland too. The Reaharsals of Yesterday were more impressive than those of today.
Switzerland… is this really what represent the non-binary identity? The outfit looks ridiculous… or, I mean… if this ONE outfit is a part of several «dress reveals» then it is completely fine…but as a sole outfit through the entire performance it just looks ridiculous. Especially when he does the rap part in this outfit he will just look weird and voters will be put off. Start off with this outfit…rip it off before the first high note, then another outfit for rap part and then finish with a 4th and final outfit, play with colours and expressions please… keeping this… Read more »
Oh God… i apologize…i of course ment to say “when THEY does the rap part…”. It take time to adjust the mindset to what one is not that used to saying… again, I apologize!
No, it is not what represents the non binary identity. It’s what represents Nemo. One person. At a rehearsal for a stage performance.
Well…i still don’t think it will appeal to televoters much. Outfit shouldn’t distract from a song, or become the main talking point of the performance – the outfit should just ‘fit’ perfectly. I believe part of the reason why Conchita won back in 2014 was because she had chosen a beautiful classy dress for her performance back then, combined with perfect styling (hair and make up), visuals and a vocal power performance. The entire performance surprised me in such a positive way that it went from being in my top 25 to my favourite on the night. I despised the… Read more »
Thank you, Jonas, for having the strength to politely educate. I lost all strength and, after today’s reactions to the rehearsals, I also lost all hope… What a colossal hoard of transphobes this “community” has turned into… 🙁
What’s transphobic? To point out that outfit is abysmally awful? The fake furr looks like a carnaval costume. If u are gonna do it, do it right.
He just needs to wear a suit. There’s too much energy going on stage. The performance is epileptic, almost Dustin the Turkey.
All this obsession with Nemo’s outfit is a function of the dripfeed of material we’re getting at this stage. A few stills and some seconds of video. From Thursday at second rehearsal through to jury show and semi two, it will all be about the dynamics of the moving plinth and their singing. In short: we’ve only had a scrap of the first course. More..much more to come .
Totally agree. Also, how bland are all the other acts today that all anyone is talking about is Switzerland?
Most songs are just not good enough. Nemo has a great song, why ruin the chances?
Camera angles ..from the staging director of Heroes 2015 and Cha Cha Cha. All still to come
Austria‘s stage looks amazing. And Kaleen is fire!!
I hope either Italy, Croatia or any other country except Switzerland would win because the song is really overrated and overhyped.
Staging is really cringe; looks like a Pink chicken songs an overhyped song 🙁
A chicken has feathers, this is fur. Two completely different things
What’s with the outfits this year? Yeah, Nemo’s is very “Nemo”, but it kind of screams cheap from the back room of a Halloween store… They’ve had better ones and I fear this will put some people off. :/
I also don’t get Besa’s and what the two guys from Azerbaijan were wearing yesterday was also… Odd.
The Azerbaijani outfits have lights in them so it looks like electricity is passing through them. It’s going to look amazing.
Ah ok that makes sense!
For Serbia I hoped for that elegant black dress from Amsterdam concert
Greece was shock
guess im the only one who’s not disappointed with switz, since i don’t like the song i wasn’t expecting much anyways
I wonder if Kaleen will learn how to sing
she doesn’t have to. Remember beyba? Lol
hahahaha, Yes bebee………………… 3rd in SF2 and 19th in the Grand Final 2023. I’m solo and anything can happen in ESC world.
I’m as gay as the day is long but Kaleen looks absolutely gorgeous in this clip.
Yea I fear Switzerland is giving Telemoveis levels of the public not going to understand it (the outfit).
I don’t think those two songs are comparable. Telemoveis was very very strange and hard for lambda viewers to enter in. The Code is more accessible and has this epic vibe that should work with the public. What I fear really is the outfit. For me it could harm Nemo’s chances of victory.
Yea, I’m not necessarily talking bout the songs/melodies etc. More so the outfit specifically. I will say, if Switzerland is really gonna play on and market the non-binary part of the song, it won’t be that accesible, as 99% of the world identifies as either male of female.
Yeah, I fear that the outfit will negatively impact the televote. I never really understood Nemo’s style choices, but I feel that some of their outfits in the preparties were quirky, but at least a bit more aesthetic… This feels just a little too “back room of a theatre’s costume department” and looks pretty cheap from close by.
And I actually want this to do well/win!
Aghhh, okay. Switzerland is one of my very favourites. Music always first. I love his voice. I love the video too, I love the energy, the genres. I love pink so much. I love the stage. His smile and neck.
But skirt and lace pantyhose!?! C’mon, man! It’s disgusting.
I find it delightful!
Curious to ask what part exactly is delightful?
LOL! Weird how this site downvotes anyone who says something positive about how the performers look tho.
I dont see a lace pantyhose. Only bare legs, right?
He’s wearing white lave pantyhose with some flower patter. Deff the worst styling of the year, by far.
Lace flower pattern?
Ok, I have to see it on big screen then. Looks like their bare legs.
One of the things I love about Armenia this year is that it’s so unpretentious. It asks nothing from me other than goodwill. A qualifier.
Oh we know what you like about Armenia!
Haha! He looked great today
A top 10 entry! At least!
Austria seems excellent. The staging definitely elevated the song.
Armenia looks beautiful
To those without taste.
I’ve supported Nemo from the very beginning, I love their song. But this outfit… No problem seeing them in a dress but choose a beautiful one. I need to see it with the official shots but I’m really not convinced at this point. It makes me a bit sad as I am really rooting for Switzerland.
It‘s a very beautiful dress to me.
I find the pink suits Nemo really well but I really don’t like that fuzzy vest. And the shoes same. I think a tulle dress would have been waaaaay better
Yes I agree…he looks like a clown, or a 5 year old girl trying in costumes for the first time…. he should have looked to Filarris performance in Serbian selection this year for inspiration – Filarri looked SMASHING amazing!!!!
I mean THEY. I appologize this mistake…THEY should have looked at Filarris performance!!!
Again…apologizes…takes time to adjusting mindset to what one is not used to….
I never judge for accidental misgendering, I’ll probably do it myself someday. Deliberate misgendering is the sin!
I expected more from Greece, especially from Fokas. Maybe they prepare something in the second rehearsal? The clothes in general this year aren’t good. Marina, however, was awesome. Malta adores Channel and it’s not a bad thing. Austria was very “quiet”, I expected something more glamorous. Switzerland is a big no…I’ll be honest, I never liked the song. But after today’s appearance is even worse. Sorry but the clothes and choreography ruin completely the song. It was so disappointing! Now, Italy has the chance to do something spectacular. But, please, the choreography and the outfit must be good. Italy has… Read more »
Dont rule out the Netherlands.. still bookies 3rd favorite to win…I expect something great from Joost tomorrow..
You can count Netherlands out because jury will never rank that song in top 5.
I don’t understand that. Why jury won’t vote for Netherlands? I think they will.
Of course they will.. If Kaarija can do that (4th with juries last year) than Joost can do it too…
well I have news for you…Greece shunted Fokas this year and gave him some “exec oversight” role. Instead Marina shares the same choreographer as…… Italy, so expect more of the same from them 😀
Armenia bringing the genuine charming fun that I wanted.
In contrast to others being more pretencious.
Dark horse hopefully with televote.
Armenia simply wow, such a cool fun staging
Switzerland confirms every stereotype people outside eurovision bubble think of the contest. I don’t blame those people. Austria , Greece pretty ok, greek song is so good it should come top 10 easy. Armenia totally fun , brings smile to my face. Malta slayed me, ngl. Czech Republic , outfit is vulgar and outdated. For me, Malta had the best rehearsal, and that song is my bottom 5 lol
Switzerland confirms nothing. These people outside the bubble you mention will tune in for just this one song? What about the other 36?
Why should we even care what these people think, and why should Nemo conform to their narrow mindedness?
Let them flick over to Top Gear or whatever else turns them on. This is OUR night!
Czechia! No Bras!
She has a bra.. check again 😉
czech again lol
They have bras. But they have a beige cover and you think they don’t have.
That’s why i asked. I hadn’t seen the TIK TOK snippet just the photos.
She is not nude.
The nipple appliquee is an optical effect.
I love marina sati Zari fantastic Greece.
Maybe if he didn’t smile so widely, it wouldn’t be so awkward to watch.
Maybe they’re smiling because they are having a great time
They?? I only see one person on the stage!! ?
And how do you know that person is a “he”? Enlighten us…
again you dont know that and it has not even anything to do with pronouns
Again, I do know that.. I wish I could show you..
Anyway, HE is a guy.. I really don’t have time for this non-binary shi• in my life..
Everyone else who instead of him sees “them” on the stage has a problem.. This is not my beliefs and I will never address someone if I know they have a dic• under there..
Done and over with him and this ludicrously act in a pink flamingo tutu..
Okay transphobe
Nemo is not a transgender person.. Next!!!!!
Oh here we go. Obsessed with genitalia again
Obsessed!!!! Hardly!!!!
Just stating the facts.. Next!!!!
Love Greece style. Ive said before Bollywood meets Missy Elliott. Timbaland would be so proud.
I cannot unsee Nemo’s neck! Why have you done this to me?!
Also, Swiss rehearsal kind of mid. Not getting winner vibes as much as Croatia gave on Saturday.
What is the neck issue?
It’s not there!
Listening to Besa reminds me of the vocal style by Sia. Also the talking part sounds similar to Nicki Minaj! Not a bad combination to vocally sound alike.
I’m getting chewbacca couture from Switzerland. Hopefully its gonna get changed for the live show.
Austria’s outfit is quite normal for a rave song,
especially compared to the other singers and her own bikini malfunction outfit.
This black-silver top with long sleeves is what even I have in my closet and wear on a party.
Maybe she comes with a surprise.
Are you wearing it for Eurovision??
If you wear your pink feather boots.
Deal!
I really don’t like Besa’s outfit. Doesn’t fit the song at all.
I thought the same. Good point.
Albania is the most covered up of these 7. Who would have thought that.
I really like what I see from Malta. I mean if a very terrible dancebreak with terrible visual effects allowed Poland to finish in the top 10 of the public last year with such a bad song, then Malta deserves to qualify this year 😉
And I say this with Malta being in my bottom 7 this year
Acrobatics realness
Malta should finish top 10 after today, wtf she can really perform lol
guys we are getting SAND SAAAAAAND
No sand timer. Fuming.
yes it’s quite disappointing. I want my “sandwich” timer
Haha! Hey maybe a bit of simplicity might help Saba stand out
First thought after listening to Marina’s tiktok – pitchy!
Keep in mind everyone that this is the first rehearsal. They all try things. Some will improve some may not. Also, we may not see the final performance as many teams keep things for the actual dress rehearsal. I don’t think the visuals for Greece will be those colorful static ones. I bet most teams hide an ace in their sleeves.
I hope you’re right – that pink static looks like a college art project
my god, greece’s performance looks fantastic
Everything looks great until now! Well done Albania, Greece and Switzerland. Malta’s staging also looks promising.
Watched Greece’s tiktok clip. It looks way more promising from the photos! I can’t wait to see the angles from the camera, I feel it’s going to be epic.
The song is a banger. Even with a mediocre staging it would do well. She is professional and delivers.
Pics are not doing it justice, but from the clip we can clearly see that staging looks ok, despite Zari being generic Greek song (like 1000 others in Greece)
Marina’s images didn’t do the aesthetics of the staging justice because, now that the Tik Tok clip is out, it looks aabsolutely exceptional. Judging by what we have seen so far today, I’d say Malta, Greece (yay!) and Austria (the Tik Tok hasn’t even come out yet but the pics look spectacular) have the most promising stagings today. Switzerland was also good, although thw outfit selection seems a bit bizzare.
Greece delivered. The song is a banger. Switzerland, too. Good luck to everyone!
Dont agree There are much better song and voices
Then vote for them. No worries.
I am impressed – they all look great so far.
Wow! I think Nemo (aka Pink Yeti) shot themselves in the foot with this staging. Upon first look this does not look very exciting or dynamic at all. Hopefully they’re able to sing the opera parts live at Eurovision, instead of using the backing track. Based on this, Nemo needs jury points big time!
Yeti! I like it
They didn’t shoot anything, the whole project was pretty much that, “everything all at once” feeling
