Spiritual staging of Hurricane.
Her ripped dress and the dancers with their simple shorts and loose shirts dusty by the storm.
Dancing between life and the hereafter, trying to hold each other in the storm.
The dancers depict the emotions in the song very beautifully.

I wonder how they will perform the 3 quiet parts on stage. The first part and the piano, the silence, and the end with the little guitar sound.

Could someone please tell Georgia she is not in a dance contest. And that LEAD VOCALS should not be on the ‘backing track’ – or at least try to pretend your singing them. Very disappointing.

There’s sadly, a lot of competition for the ‘cheater’ crown this year. Yes, I know they are not technically breaking any rules but they are certainly cheating the audience who came to see singers song their songs. Not one of them will get a vote from me.

San Marino: Looks much better than in the NF but that doesnt mean it will qualify. I still dont think its a very competitive song. I dont like Estonia, i was hoping for brigther colours. Belgium: Great song, but Mustii is not the right person i think. Im not a fan of his facial expressions and it feels very forced. Georgia: Strong and loud. But i like it. Israel: As expected: good. OK, random thoughts I had while watching these: San Marino: talk about mesmerizing, I want them to go to the final Georgia: fits the song, I guess Belgium: so he’s going to star the song surrounded with mics and then will go next to them – and anything else? the song is amazing, I’m just worried about him ending up like Sennek 2.0 Estonia: I still love this Israel: what’s the most generic staging for emotional song with female vocals? I have a little problem here. First I want to say that I want Georgia to qualify because the performance seems to be really good. BUT (yeah… there’s a but) Isn’t it a bit hypocritical for some fans to applaud Georgia by saying that the staging raises the level of the song and that Georgia should go high in the rankings, when some of these exact same fans have repeatedly attacked Sweden because they rely too much on staging and their song is average? Excuse me, but I see exactly the same thing in both cases. Two generic pop songs… Read more »

Yeah, and? I mean it’s EBU’s fault if the contest is made in such a way that a “rich” country can use more money than a “poor” one, not Sweden’s.
The idea here is not to shame all people whi don’t like Sweden, it’s to point one of the many double standards there are in this contest.

Belgium and Estonia are two of the most epic songs in this semi final, even in the entire competition. The fact they have been let down so badly by the staging is heartbreaking for me, as someone who considers both songs in my top 5. This is not true. People know the music is fake. But such heavy playback vocals mixed with a little actual singing is totally blurring reality. We had this talk before, I know we disagree completely on this, but for me Eurovision would be dead with all playback. Why have a contest at all when you don’t even have to sing? Yes, we come from completely different worlds. I was first a raver when you might have a track that has no singing in it whatsoever. Then I got into rock which is also about the pulsing bass, the thrashing guitars and crashing drums. I really have very little interest in only the singer, it makes absolutely no sense to me. I can’t stand the haters saying negative things about Ukraine. It’s the only country that has never failed to reach the finals, and together with Sweden, they are the most successful countries in Eurovision. They are super talented. They haven’t always been at war, and yet they’ve always placed high. I can’t imagine Eurovision without Ukraine. Jamala was one of my all-time favourite winners with her epic song. “Stefania” was also great. I loved it when it was selected before the war started. This year’s entry isn’t among my favourites, but it’s still a great song.

Switzerland not a chance. I think top 3 in this semi is pretty obviously Norway, Netherlands and Israel.

I really don’t, without considering esc bubble and their hype, odds, from casual viewer standpoint it’s not engaging enough. And the story looks so forced, I don’t think the vision translated well…

Did you forget it’s televote only? Just look at the voting patterns from the last couple years, he is obviously winning the semi.

You may not like the staging, but the audience will go berserk and that will definitely translate to viewers at home. And don’t forget, 40m+ Spotify streams and 20m+ Youtube views…. People will know this song.

San Marino – I’m not sure what it is about black and pink and the fluffy animals but I’m finding this a bit triggering. I’m loving how much effort has gone into it. Georgia – this is Noa Kirel’s Unicorn from last year but I have to admit, Nutsa does it exceptionally well and Georgia have not spared any expense with the fire, it looks visually stunning Belgium – perhaps my favourite performance of this song so far, Mustii is emoting this really well and there’s an honesty about it that I really like Estonia – bringing the testosterone, this… Read more »

It’s one of the best songs Israel has ever sent. It’s a touching ballad and I can relate to it (in no political way, whatsoever). Her vocals can be improved but the song is veeery emotional.

Georgia and Nutsa should be in final, more – for me is TOP 3 or even a winner vibes based on this around 30 seconds from rehersals.

Others: fire themes have been done to death at Eurovision but Georgia looks really good regardless. Estonia didn’t impress me at all. San Marino is ok. The Netherlands should be nowhere near winning Eurovision this year. This like an unfunny cartoon character.

San Marino’s song is not for me at all, but the craziness in the staging might at least make it have some chances, though I highly doubt it will go through. Georgia is serving the best girl-bop staging so I think they are surely going to qualify (even if they wouldn’t be my personal choice). This puts Austria in trouble I think. I think Belgium has improved a lot, though I would want the staging to be more atmospheric like in the video clip (it may be this way in the more introspective verses who knows). Belgium can go both… Read more »

I would say Malta has got a lot more to worry about than Austria. I see Nutsa and Sarah to be going for a very similar vibe, Kaleen is going more for the sophisticated model at the dark club vibe.

My top 3: 1: Victory should be Norway’s for the taking. They’re the best. 2: I also liked my other fave Israel, I think we haven’t seen the best part yet. 3: Surprisingly, I also liked Belgium, it seems like he really recovered. Though we haven’t seen any of the first two minutes and that’s where he blew completely before. I hope those are good too now.

Only one question, I want to know your opinion: The jury votes for Israel. What jury is going to give points to Israel? I’m not saying they shouldn’t give points to Israel, just saying it is hard to happen, at my point.

I don’t see juries of western counties voting for Israel, mainly because of public pressure. Not sure about the other areas of Europe.

I can see most of Israel’s points coming from the juries. It’s their job to vote on a song regardless of anything.

Televote will the one to look at though

MaggieMayhem

Sure, it’s what the jury is supposed to do, but they will absolutely not. Have you forgotten how Greece and Cyprus’ juries always give each other 12 points? And how the Italian juries don’t give the favorites any points, when Italy is a contender to win? Western jury members are often well know artist, producers, or radio dj’s, and they will not risk getting canceled in their own country. So, they’re not gonna give Israel points.

Italian juries don’t give favorites any points? last year the b4byk1llers came third thanks to Italy’s 12 points from the jury. if they hadn’t done that, it would have been Marco in that place

Last year there were only 2 clear contenders for the win: Sweden and Finland. I’m talking about 2019. That year was a toss up between Mahmood and Duncan, and Duncan received 0 points from Italy. Also, 0 points to Gjon’s Tears in 2021….

it’s still an exaggeration to say they “never give favorites any points”. Sweden got 8 points from the Italian jury last year. and if someone’s a favorite doesn’t mean everyone has to agree it deserves a victory anyway. that’s it.

Perhaps not high points but you can’t be an objective judge if you don’t award at least some points to the song, it’s a very powerful emotional yet dynamic ballad.

Jury votes are published online. All kinds of people and institutions are already pressured by certain mob groups who are harrassing and cancelling them, even for them staying Neutral. Jury members working in the music industry may be afraid to be harrassed and cancelled by that mob as well. Even if jury members love Israel’s song and would rate it 12, some may give no or few points, and just vote for other songs. That’s the safe way (but the coward way). And then ofcourse there are those jury members who want to exclude Israel, like some participating artists wanted.… Read more »
