We’ve made it to the final day of Eurovision 2024 second rehearsals. On Saturday, the six automatic qualifiers will be returning to the Malmö Arena for another chance to perfect their performances.
This time around, they’ll have 20 minutes to undertake another few run throughs and to check whatever changes they requested following the first rehearsal.
The EBU will release photos and 30-second teaser clips in a roundup on YouTube, though individual broadcasters may decide to share them on social media earlier. We’ll try to update this post as things drop. Regardless, please share your thoughts in the comments section throughout the day!
After their rehearsal, each of the Big Five will also draw their half in the grand final, or draw the new producer’s choice that gives the organisers free rein on where to put them in the running order. Hosts Sweden previously drew their placement at the Heads of Delegation meeting in March — Marcus & Martinus will open the grand final in spot #1.

Have you seen the news on Ukraine’s entrant? They stated in interview that of Ukraine wins; they would sell the Eurovision trophy and donate the money ?
This boring song doesnt deserve winning; let alone top5..They are using this song contest for their donation ? This contest should not be charity organization for Ukraine :/
Maybe they want to get attention that Ukraine is donating for good so they can get votes to win, Ukraine love winning as they tried hard and already got 3 victory between 2003 and 2022. Russia war on Ukraine worked for Ukraine as they kicked Russia out and Ukraine won in 2022. Sorry Ukraine you are not gonna win this year
Oh please, stop this. Yes, they might be saying what they’re saying. But Ukraine as a nation always delivers, and I’m telling you as a Russian speaking guy. Somehow on lower budget Ukraine always delivers the most prominent pop stars
Which is true, cuz the most successful pop stars across Russian speaking world, are actually Ukrainian artists
So far UK has the BEST staging based on the clips we have seen. Looks great on screen. My favourite Norway looked bad on screen and they really need to work on camera angels, but that’s the same with many many others…so I have a feeling not everyone are showing the real footage…
I find the camera work on this live performances to be really really really poor for most of the songs…. this better not be the actual tv footage…that would bode for a boring show…
Jeez, when I was coming home from school, I used to walk from my bus station through the line of sex workers. That was the state of affairs in former Eastern block, so I really don’t understand this puritan approach of “oh, it’s a family show”.
Well, this also is not ideal and children shouldn‘t get this view
Yes, it’s not ideal, as growing up with bombs over your head like in former Yugoslavia for example. But nothing wrong with that, at least I grew up knowing that any human being counts. Ok, sex worker, nothing wrong with that
My guilty pleasures this year:
Switzerland
Lithuania
Portugal
Malta
Italy
In this order.
and estonia
No need to feel guilty.
UK is everything but sensual. Its porn, and a bad one.
*My COMPLETE TOP 37 of the “Eurovision Song Contest 2024” entries (FINAL, after rehearsals):* 1. Estonia – “(nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi” (SONG: 10/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 10/10) – (2ND REHEARSAL: 10/10) –(OVERALL: 30/30) 2. Croatia – “Rim Tim Tagi Dim” (SONG: 10/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 10/10) – (2ND REHEARSAL: 10/10) –(OVERALL: 30/30) 3. Netherlands – “Europapa” (SONG: 10/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 10/10) – (2ND REHEARSAL: 10/10) –(OVERALL: 30/30) 4. Ireland – “Doomsday Blue” (SONG: 10/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL EFFECTS, OUTFITS: 10/10) – (2ND REHEARSAL: 10/10) –(OVERALL: 30/30) 5. Portugal – “Grito” (SONG: 10/10) – (STAGING/VISUAL… Read more »
The pink fur killed it with fans. I thought he will use a little girl dress like before.
Omg… UK is quite something… it is well done but it is toooo sexual
No it’s not
There’s a lot of gaslighting going on here trying to convince the public that this choreography isn’t sexual.
Of course it is sexual, but so have many other songs been.
Switzerland 2019 was literally about “dirty” dancing and how much Luca lusted after some poor unfortunate woman who happened to walk through the door.
Chanel… well, I’m sure you know about Chanel. The one about p o r n
I actually missed Eurovision last year but I’m hearing a lot about Chanel. If that’s the case then I’d be equally opposed to that song too.
Chanel was sexy, Olly is almost doing something sexual with the dancers.
Do you think Chanel’s booty “hypnotic” was supposed to help viewers give up smoking?
i think that is the objetive
And why not to be daring? It’s not tacky, it’s very well done artistically. I’m not sure why so many gays are overacting to this, William included? Not saying it’s something revolutionary, but nothing within the norm would take us to where we are right now in terms of sexuality. And the family show aspect, please? There are images of wars across the world right now which are more damaging to an young soul
It’s almost live sex on stage.
I hope they have mops on standby. Y’know, just in case.
In your interpretation
More sex, more fun! What’s wrong with that?
Sweden is underrated because the song is very good
La noia Angelina mango may be crowned for Italy. I feel Sertab Erener fire burning again, exotic, erotic contemporary contender, hot hot hot running for the front to take the lead on scoreboard, Switzerland and Croatia are are lack of emotion, Israel strong but dated but original and real hurricane but risk of getting boowed because of Israel current situation, no politic in eurovision please, music love and peace
And at which part do we get emotion in Italian song?
Your testosterone may have dropped, if that’s the case then no way you are going to feel the song,
Slimane won’t finish that high. Barbara Pravi couldnt even win with her authentic and self composed song, so Slimane won‘t win with this cliche forced song
Like no offense
He have better voice than Barbara Pravi
And he sings more than one word. . .
Regardless of where he finishes, I appreciate what the French have offered the contest this year – A pure ballad amongst a sea of dance songs, sung by classic male Baritone amongst a sea of female vocalists.
UK gone too far? Can the BBC actually show this before the 9pm threshold hour? Being in the first half runs that risk…
It definitely feels like the most risque entry I can remember. I’m happy to be corrected. Certainly if it were a scene of a film it would be post watershed.
They’re not actually having s e x. They don’t even take their shorts off.
It’s clearly choreographed in a way to depict it graphically. How it’s achieved is quite impressive from a technical aspect – credit where it’s due.
No. Yes.
I suspect that Olly’s team knew that their staging woulds force the producers to put it on after 9pm, therefore no sooner than ninth. Well played.
I suppose they could accidentally delay transmission of the show for 5 minutes. Say there was a power disruption or something and show it later. Oh look, the watershed’s slipped by, phew. 😀
Also, I believe RTÉ also has a watershed or a strict content rule or something equivalent, so it’s not just the BBC.
My favorite entry continues to be Switzerland. It’s one of the boldest, boldest and most original songs I’ve ever seen in this competition. Hate me if you want, but it’s my honest opinion.
The craftsmanship that has gone into the sing is phenomenal. From the concept, to the lyrics, to the finely balanced combination of genres. Nemo is both a world class vocalist and a performer with real stage presence and I really respect that they have taken a gamble with the staging. I wish them the best of luck
Its a generic pop song in english what have nothing to do with the represented country. And voice is nothing special
I agree it doesn’t have much swiss identity but neither was Loreen drawing from Swedish traditions. Technically, what he is doing in the song with his voice is extremely advanced.
Germany – dead last; staging doesn’t do it in my opnion and really static.
Spain – around 20th place
Sweden – 16th
UK – 14th
France – 5th
Italy – 1st or 2nd (possibly the scenario where she doesn’t win neither jury nor televote but wins in the end)
Credit to Italy’s staging director; it is one of the best Italian stages and also one of the best stagings of Eurovision 2024 🙂 Really liked colours.
It’s stunning. Curiously, it’s also the same staging director as Greece
OMG! hahahaha
Italy sounds bad, looks messy and is complete trash.
gosh slimane is trying so hard to do a mengoni 2.0… but his emotions feel forced af
Marco struggling to finish his song last year due to emotion was the highlight of the night.
Yes, Marco so effortlessly likable for that!
I think Marco came out as an experienced and professional singer for viewers. They appreciate a good singer, especially in a row of wannabes you have to choose from. I am not sure Slimane has that extra thing.
Slimane’s song is not as good as Marco’s, but it is more immediate than Marco’s… that could help.
True. Maybe when viewers saw Marco they thought he was too good for this contest, or “what is he doing there?”
I doubt they will get the same feeling with France.
Agree; I also find the song too forced and boring.
I agree. Juries will love his technique so he will get A LOT of points but I wonder if public will fall into that. Last year Marco’s performance was pure emotion, it was really something. Here it’s completely forced so it doesn’t seem natural. I have the same feeling for the end of Joost performance. The intention is good, but the emotion isn’t “pure”.
I couldn’t agree more! Right on point. Even comparing Italy and France this year, Angelina’s acapella is way more organic
Sleazy and tacky, disgusting.
They all deserve a good place!
If I had to predict on the Big5 + Sweden, I would say:
Spain – Bottom 5
Germany – Bottom 5 or at best 18th
UK – around 15th
Sweden – Between 8th and 11th
France – Between 4th and 6th but I think more 4th (1st or 2nd with juries)
Italy – Top 3
Sweden doesn’t deserve top10 result, tbh.
15th position is also too high for UK.
I like Sweden, it’s in my top 5 and a lot of Eurovision fans tend to underestimate the country due to an excessive hate. I think it will be top 10 with both juries and public thanks to the staging. But we’ll have to see because they go first and even if they changed the voting system, I think people will wait before voting and forget a bit about them.
Public? Only Swedes in norway, Denmark and Finland would vote for this song
Spot on! Agree totally.
My prediction about Big5 entries:
1) Germany : Around 20-26th; possibly 18th
2) UK: Probably around 24-26th (They shouldnt expect any jury points for this staging)
3) Spain: Bottom 5
4) France: Not sure but around top 10-15
5) Sweden: Plastic song; deserves no higher than 12-14th places
6) Italy: TOP3 !
Spain was an obvious bottom 5 from the first moment. There is not enough audience for such songs in ESC, and those dancers could be too much for many people. The package comes out a bit cheap and amateur.
Nobody is talking about Sweden. It has what it takes for a top 5, and we fans are so upset with Swedish songs that we don’t want to see it.
I agree on both. Spain lower Top 6 and Sweden in the upper.
Among today’s rehearsals, Italy is by far my favorite; they really put effort and it surprised me 🙂 Italy, Croatia and Switzerland trio would be in top3. Find Ukranie’s song boring.
However, camera angles should be corrected in all songs.
there’s a country that no one speaks so it’s perfect for creating a big surprise with the real audience.
which?
France, he generally appears to speak about France
Bur he is right, France could create a really big surprise.
Another last place for Germany?
Why so much downgrading here?! I genuinely think Germany will end up in the last position in GF. Logically speaking, who else? All qualifiers would have qualified cuz of some support behind them
I don’t understand the hate towards UK’s staging (or rather I know where it’s coming from but nevermind). I think it’s very clever and memorable and elevates the song.
Italy looks great although I would like a bit more light on the stage – I hope we’re just seeing the darkest part of the performance.
France is solid and will likely win the jury vote.
France’s song is just boring; don’t think that juries would always give ballad songs high points.
Though France has great melody and stellar voice, take a peek at the lyrics. I mean basic is not the word. Juries have to score song composition as part of their criteria and on that aspect it’s poor.
France is OK, but I wish he would skip lying on the stage. Maybe the director is trying to keep the viewers busy and attached to the performance. I think it’s useless.
UK’s staging shows how we fans are more conservative than it seems. It’s not brutal or aggressive, but it’s also not too far from an intimate scene in a gay sauna. At least this staging is the only reason we even talk about the UK entry.
I just wonder what the reaction would be if it were female dancers doing those stuff? Would it have been called cheap and slu*ty?
Switzerland has dropped from 5.9 to 4.7 on Betfair in space of ten minutes. Has Nemo ditched the outfit???
They can’t change costumes now. However, over the next few days expect to see the odds change rapidly and in strange directions: It is the delegates placing bets on their acts in order to generate hype. It happens at the same time every year.
Malta are the experts at this sport.
Ooph, just went through top liked comments here, and oh my, seems like we have so many protectors of traditional values here, who would’ve thought! Seems like anti propaganda bs from certain country is spreading all over Europe. Kids nowadays have access to way more explicit things in popular culture, so please, chill out!
You are right! Eurovision is about diversity, not about “traditional values”!
Protectors of so called traditional values. Russian speakers would understand what I mean. It’s just getting even more ridiculous there I’ve heard. Now you can’t even use the traditional slogan “Piece! Labor! May!” on International Labor Day which was 3 days ago
Italy is now more stronger contender 🙂 Their staging is one of best Italian stagings and also one of the best states of this year !
I’ve been objective and realistic. The casual european voter might consider Uk’s performance too much. We are not quite there yet.. Sorry. But I hope I’m wrong. Because it’s a very cool performance. Too bad the song isn’t on the same level.
Too much in what way?
because people normally are scared to vote on these songs. Unfortunately.
Gay is not contagious.
Exactly! But this prejudice exists and is very well rooted in society, unfortunately
Ignorance IS contagious, alas.
So much truth in such a short sentence Jonas. I couldn’t agree more.
Facts
the only thing I hate in eurovision is big 5. Everyone (excepting the host) must qualify in one semi-final to be in the final.
If you pay for a party, you’re allowed to attend it!
Even though I agree on the idea, we can’t ask for countries to pay that much more without giving them a big advantage. And without their money the contest would certainly be a lot less impressive.
i thought it’d only be croatia x ukraine thing, but after seeing italy’s rehearsal clip…angelina can really take it
I’m presuming reading the comments about UK staging/performance that due to the raunchiness although drawn to perform in first half of the final Olly will be placed nearer to 13 rather than 2! hahaha
Nebulossa looks good so underrated
Totally agree
I love them!
Agree with you.
Italy clip is out, too dark and more horrible camera angles
It’s “too dark” because that part of the song is a cappela. They want to keep it intense
Also, the angles are completely fine?!
you are trying so hard to find something bad in a fantastic performance, poor you
Guys, one important thing. in the space of 6 years we loosed 6 participant countries. This is a very worrying subject
Countries have been coming and going for decades.
Are you even counting Russia and Belarus among them? North Macedonia and Montenegro want to come back but they are lacking the finances, while Romania and Bulgaria simply have corrupted broadcasters. I’m confident in the future of ESC although as Martin Österdahl admitted recently it’s not the easiest of times for the competition.
I didnt know that about Romania and Bulgaria, can you please explain more?
Are you from the Balkans? If not it might be difficult for you to understand xd
Bruh im not
but i live in a very corrupt country
Angelina’s 2nd outfit (all black with red roses): bellissimo !
Eleni Foureira is confirmed for the oppening of the semifinal 1! Fuego!
and Queen Chanel
Off topic. I just watched interviews on eurovoxx with Besa from Albania, and Iolanda. They are amazing human beings. I just want them to Q. Everyone works so hard to give the best possible performance even with their own money, and somebody is gonna be heartbroken at the end of the day, and I can’t take it. Competition part of the contest is really cruel to some:(
The UK staging is the most horny I ve seen in years ( on years………..) on the ESC stage. Very clever indeed. I wasnt such a big fan of the song in the studio cut. And hey why are people complaining about it?? They dont show their parts or having any real intercourse. Its all suggestive. If it would have been with well shaped ladies in nice bikinies not many will have complained. Ive been in more dirthy public bathrooms for that matter……………………. All the best Uk and Olly ,hope you make a good result. Owe no I just dropped… Read more »
With all the tallent that UK has got they can easily send a winning song. Not saying this song is bad but its not a winning song.
Songwise I dont think this is the best. But at ESC we all want to see the whole package!!
This is soo much better than Michael Rice or Mae Muller.
Top 15 I think?
I love how gay this performance is. Im all in for it. Definitely televote staging
At least they dont wear pink showing they are gay. Thats a big + already for me.
Italy pls bring back old outfits this one is so basic
It was a bit too busy, this one looks better.
Looks like they bought it from H&M when they came to Sweden lol old ones were a bit much but they were suitable for the finale
Love a bit of H&M!
Isaak singing “I’m always on the run” when it’s quite obvious that he hasn’t been for a run in years.
Not funny
Exactly
Why be so mean?
His house is on fire, so i would also run.
Great singer!! Hope he gets many jury votes.
Less of the fatphobia please
Phobia means to be afraid of. I doubt he is actually afraid of fat people and he hides in the caves when he sees one.
also discrimination against fat people. Homophobia is not fear of gay people is it?
Love it, eurogambler ? Eurovision politically correct nonbinary euro fans need more humour like that ?
Emojis didn’t appear instead showing question marks
Did you know that you can have a sense of humour and not be cruel at the same time? Perhaps that’s too difficult for you x
People here have never sat in the front row of a stand up comedy club. They rip you apart.
Difference is – you ain’t funny
The dude is holidaying in Malmo on German public money, going through the motions on stage like it’s karaoke night at his local pub and that’s not offensive to us as fans? And we’re supposed to respect his (lack of) effort and pretend like it’s ok?
You are actually offended by that? How sad
Actually yes. Knowing how many great German artists there are that would have given their absolute all to represent their country and would have put on a fantastic show, but are consistently overlooked – I do get offended by that. I also get offended by his lack of effort, when I look at a list of semi finalists that have put in so much energy, but will likely not make the cut for Saturday night. That’s sad.
Fair point.
Hope that producers would position Italy in the 2nd half; between 20-26th positions.
It would be not good if they put this song in the 1st half.
I have a feeling that they put it in the 1st half, between 5-10th positions.
Maybe, they want to end the first round of countries with Italy and then go to the break
2nd half suits better for this song 🙂
Producers also couldn’t still find who leaked Italy’s stand in rehearsal although I should not be leaked.
You do know that from this year on the preferrable side is the 1st side because the voting start right away?
Reading the reactions here to Olly is hilarious 🙂
I can’t know if they are trolls, people from other countries who find themselves threatned by UK possibilities of winning or homophobic people or all of the above together. We live in a scary world oh boy. It’s just a song competition and we should all suport each other and enjoy it, guess what in a few days we’ll be all depressed with postESC depression and we will have to wait another year to enjoy this again. Go support your favorites and let the ones you dont apreciate much to others to enjoy it. Peace
AGREED! (And I’m dreading the post Eurovision depression haha)
The internal homophobia of it all
The weakest argument is the ‘its a family show’ argument. In other words, you can be gay but don’t be TOO gay or make any suggestion that you – GASP – have sex
There are no gay people in families. Hetero only. It’s a strict policy. Hetero only breed other heteros. Gay children are delivered by the gay stork.
And delivered you to us Jonas, thank Stork
Italy changed not only the outfits but according to some spoilers, they changed the choreography, some LEDs, and the style of the performance
They improved it, a lot!
Angelina really wants to give an amazing performance.
italy also gets producer’s choice
I hope producers would put Italy on the 2nd half; rather than 1st half.
You do know that from this year on the preferrable side is the 1st side because the voting start right away?
Apparently Italy changed outfits for the second rehearsal (did the same for Maneskin in 2021).
much better imo
Yes, I agree. I liked the first one too, but this one is much more elegant.
I can understand the decision. I really like the floral lace, but perhaps it was a touch too busy. This feels like a safer option
I liked the previous outfits, but the new outfits definitely makes things less busy. I like them.
Apparently some reps from the Albanian broadcaster are talking about censoring the UK’s performance. I don’t remember that reaction when Chanel basically had her a$$ out while singing about making an On1yFans. Yet, there are plenty of European gay men in these comments that will collude with the people who’d like them not to exist rather than support what Olly is doing.
Hype, fake news, absolute nonsense, I’m starting to wonder where these negative comments and trolls are coming from and I have my suspicion it’s from a certain country in the ESC who are critical of Olly from day 1. I say no more because it’s a personal assumption. Sorry, but these tactics are not working if it’s true. We move on!
Albania should’ve DQed if they do that.
I remember talk of censoring Ireland 2018, but can’t remember what actually transpired.
I remember that story Jonas. It was a Chinese broadcaster that was showing Eurovision live that year. They censored Ireland’s performance and they were kicked out of broadcasting Eurovision for good. Broadcasters can’t censor any performance – it’s against the rules. That’s why the producers review every performance and make sure that there are no issues.
They were also the ones who blurred out Eugent Bushpepa’s arms because of his tattoos… 2018 was interesting lol
That’s right. China is so different culturally. I have no idea why they decided to broadcast Eurovision in the first place.
It was called Mango TV (lol).I found a relevant article.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/11/asia/china-eurovision-censor-lgbt-intl/index.html
Thanks. Albania will do to remember that. If these rumours are true, of course, which I hope they!re not.
Some poisonous people writing here today!
Perhaps a tad worried the UK might shock the bookies? May the best song win next week. I’m very proud of Olly, his team and the UK. I wish them the very best.
Let’s all sprinkle some fairy dust around the place to make them go away.
We only saw a 30-second clip, not the entire 3 minutes. Olly and his team know what they are doing, They are performing and dancing and the staging looks great. This is art. Stop being conservative and let them perform, let them do their best, nothing is over the top, otherwise, the EBU would have said no, so just enjoy the show. This is going to get a lot of votes you know from both the juries and the public. Eurovision 24 is about change breaking new boundaries, Ireland has done it, the UK with its stage performance have done… Read more »
I wish UK would be the last; their song is really bad but staging is the worst one.
They should focus more on the song.
Anti anglo sentiment. Strong as always. PA-THE-TIC! *spit*
The UK is comprised of more than just anglo. Not that you’d know it from their Eurovision entries.
Nearly 70% of the English (not British, so without counting Northern Ireland, Wales, Cornwall, Scotland, Manx) are ethnically Celtic. Lots of people don’t know about it but it’s true:
https://www.scotsman.com/arts-and-culture/were-nearly-all-celts-under-the-skin-2480644
Same in France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Spain; millions of Celts who don’t know it.
I’m Welsh! 😉
Would love to see Bright Light Bright Light do Eurovision for Wales and the UK
Breton here. Practically the same people.
Charming sentiment, in the spirit of uniting music. 🙂
“Nothing is over the top”. Depends on what your top is. EBU also allowed a man wearing a thong to go like this on stage and put himself in such a position that you could easily think he is naked during the first seconds of the performance. Nobody will die because of that but you can clearly question the artistic choice.
Nobody will die because of what Olly does either. However, people DO die because of the REPRESSION of what Olly does. Sad.
I partly agree with what you say but you make some kind of shortcut here. Yeah there are people dying in some countries because of homosexual relations and it is terrible. I couldn’t agree more and I’m so thankful to live in one of the most open minded country in the world. But is this once again a reason to hypersexualise a performance that didn’t need to be? Will this performance help the acceptance of homosexuals in this world? I don’t think it will. Anyway, I take the time to discuss because I have it but as I also said… Read more »
Don’t try reasoning with the commentors on this site. They have their little songs that they stan and the UK has come along and MASSIVELY upset their trajectory.
I believe all songs in the competition are the same size….circa 3 minutes
Some three minutes are bigger than others.
UK is in my top 10 since the very beginning. Sometimes it’s not a matter of liking a song or not.
I’m not British but to be honest, I’m really grateful for them this year. I’m tired of tip-toeing around the worst people on this continent who have a meltdown over any kind of erotic tension between men (NEVER when it’s sexualising women though). The backwardness needs attacking head on. I don’t care if they come last, what the UK has done is much bigger than that and they’re getting my vote.
I’ve been saying this for years. Hopefully one day lyrics will also resist submission and we get the gay equivalent of Switzerland 2019 I’ve been waiting for. HE got me.
UK are Making their Minds UP!!!
Finally.
Welcome in the 21st century
Man… Isaak gives zero personality in the clip posted on Twitter. So static! Hope it’s not like that the whole way through the performance.
At Least much better UK’s terrible staging video
Say what you want about the dancers and such, but I’m still impressed with the concept of a “spinning room”…
Why is it terrible
saint slimane giving some holy vibes
meanwhile the Spanish fan Dom is poisoning Twitter once again, Spain is so boring, he always plays the same song with gay dancers, which only Spain and the Spaniards like and the result can be seen every year!
You have a Big mental problem.
