Eleni, Tamta, Elena, Silia. The sunny island of Cyprus has given us plenty of women who can sing and dance. And this morning Cypriot broadcaster CyBC confirmed that it’s selected a man who can do the same. Congratulations Theo Evan. You are Cyprus’ Eurovision 2025 singer.

His debut single “The Wall” gives us strong hints of what he might do at Eurovision. The Reggaeton-influenced single was inspired by Stromae and leans into electronica. His subsequent releases — “Save Me From Myself” and “Dark Side” — had a darker feel. They addressed issues like self-destruction and mental health, showing how Theo wants to use his music to reflect the real world and start important conversations.

His song for Eurovision 2025 will be released at a later date.

Theo Evan is Cyprus’ Eurovision 2025 singer

Below is the press release from the Cypriot broadcaster.

“Theo Evan started his journey into music and dance from the tender age of 7 when he started dance lessons in Nicosia and joined his school’s choir. He participated in various local talent and theatre shows in Cyprus, gaining a number of awards and distinctions for his performances. With Michael Jackson as his idol, Theo was inspired to develop his creativity and started writing his own songs as a teenager, adopting pop as his main direction and incorporating elements from the genre’s late king into his music and his dance alike.

After his graduation from a leading public school, namely The English School in Nicosia, Theo was empowered by his parents to make his motto of “Never compromise, work hard and follow your dreams – no matter how unattainable they might seem” a reality. In this regard, he moved to the United States to study music and performance at Berklee, one of the most renowned universities for the aforementioned fields, not only in America but internationally. He completed his university studies earlier than expected with distinction, something that did not go unnoticed by his professors, who selected him as an honorary guest at the university’s last three graduation ceremonies among the likes of Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot, Pharell Williams, John Legend and other notable alumni. After his graduation, he opted to make Los Angeles as the city from which he could chart his own path into music.

“The Wall” the name of his first single was influenced by Reggaeton since it incorporates the musical rhythm of Dembow. Inspired by Stromae, the song’s production makes use of electronic music elements. This was followed by two new releases, namely “Save Me From Myself” and the “Dark Side”, a darker route than his initial single since both songs regard the self-destructive tendencies of today’s mankind and the cry for help that is so crucial for our mental health and wellbeing.

Theo also ventured into the acting world with a brief participation as an extra in HBO’s TV series “Euphoria”, as a stepping stone into this equally creative field.”

“He was an extra on Euphoria”

That should read an extra on HBO’s Euphoria.

There’s only ONE “Euphoria” round these parts, and it’s Loreen’s.

I don’t think it’s late enough to make any judgments. We haven’t heard his song yet. However, it’s likely to be your standard radio friendly pop which isn’t particularly exciting.

I wanna wait until his song is actually released before I can make a judgment of how good or bad it is and how it could do at Eurovision.

2017 was the last time we had a Cypria born artist represent Cyprus, not a Greek artist or someone in the Greek Cypriot diaspora. Can’t believe it’s been that long.

His music is okay, not super, but radio friendly and has a nice vibe, based on the video’s it’s more Olly Alexander than Stromai, that can be good or bad. That’s it for now.

The Eurovision 2025 season has just started, and already we’ve got our first artist, from Cyprus.

What’s this, the Cypriot entrant is actually from Cyprus, not Greece or a Greek-Cypriot diaspora singer from another country? I can’t believe it’s been so long to have an actual Cypriot-born singer go to Eurovision (since 2017 I believe). Welcome to the Eurovision family, Theo Evan. May I wish you the best of luck.

Lets hope his esc song will be nothing like any of these songs he had recorded so far, cause all of them are either typical NQ or Q with bellow top15. Cyprus need to send a song iut of the bod and faaar far far away from the same old generic sound they had been sending the past 10 years or so

Studied at Berklee and moved to Los Angeles. The exact same trajectory of Portugal’s MARO!

Ahh Cyprus! The most underrated ESC country. Everytime since 2017 they have been consistently in my top 10. I cannot wait to see them win one day! Good luck Theo.

maybe 2025 will be THE YEAR they are winning

wonder who the ”G.M.” initials are as in the songwriter clue, could be Giorgio Moroder maybe? although that would be a first of Giorgio working with a male artist (but always a first for everything maybe)

It is said that RIK has the legal rights for an unreleased George Michael’s song. Let’s see if it’s true.

https://m.kathimerini.com.cy/gr/goodlife/showbiz/i-kypros-paei-eurovision-me-george-michael Here. There has been a discussion about this rumoured song for at least 3-4 years and a possible representation of Cyprus, but seems that they couldn’t solve the legal/ copyright issue. It seems that this year they finally found a solution.

Finally, a native Cypriot to represent Cyprus at Eurovision for the first time since like 2017! I completely recommend his latest single, “Fading dreams”.
