Montenegro hasn’t made the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest since 2015. And while songs like Highway’s “The Real Thing” and Vladana’s “Breathe” didn’t leave Europe gagging, Eurovision 2025 offers the chance of a fresh start through Montesong 2024 — the country’s newly launched national selection for Eurovision.
Today Montenegro undid tradition by becoming the first country to release its national selection songs — a hallmark we usually associated with Albania.
The finalists include Eurovision 2013 artist Nina Zizic, who, along with Who See, managed to place fourth in her Eurovision semi-final…with the public. Sadly the jury pulled them down and kept them from the final.
Montenegro’s national final will take place on 27 November — that’s a Wednesday — in Podgorica at 20:00 CET. And while Wednesday may not exactly scream “Eurovision night” for most of you, it’ll be an important date in Montenegro. It coincides with the host broadcaster’s birthday. Happy birthday Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG).
Audiences outside of Montenegro can watch the show on the Montesong YouTube channel. A 50/50 combination of public and jury votes will determine the winner.
You can check out all of the songs below. Then vote for your favourites. Do any of these songs stand a chance of making the grand final in Basel? Which is your favourite? Let us know down below…
Good luck to them all, i don’t have a clear favourite ??
I’m kinda enjoying Dva Srca and Repeat. I hope the lyrics are super ok.
Dva Srca (Two Hearts) is about two people connecting and their hearts beating as one. Repeat is about frequent sex with someone she likes.
Comments under the songs in Montenegrin/Serbian are so different from the English language comments. The results will be a huge surprise for the international audience.
Montenegro’s best chance to break through the semifinals, deliver something original, and make an impact with a showstopper tune lies in choosing between “Clickbait” and “Dva Srca.”
It is very dire but still better than usual Montenegro selection shows. Surprisingly I liked the ” Repeat” song the most. It has a very chilled café shop vibe over it and Balkan countries do make those type of songs good. Really feel good song that I think we all need at this time .
That said i doubt it will ever come close to winning but it is the most.
Half of the songs in a boring style of Vladana, and half rocky songs chosen by other older rocky montenegrin jurors. They really have zero chances of achieving a top 10 with this come back. To Montenegro – Fire Vladana immidiately! It was obvious from the start that she isn’t up to the job, she just doesn’t have (nor she knows) what ESC is.
this selection isn’t just for ESC though? it also is to improve their domestic music scene with giving new talent a chance to get known with a wider audience
and to promote montenegrin music internationally
they’ve told me too on youtube below one of the videos (and with they i mean Montesong organizers)
for ESC there might still be revamps possible
It still is a selection show for ESC though. That is the purpose
Boban Rajovic also released the song he was supposed to competed with before he withdrew: https://youtu.be/OgKfI7KTRBI?si=auQUAVScOV0XoCog
I don’t understand the lyrics so this is based on music and vocals:
Baryak – “Dva srca” – my top fave. Epic!
Anastasija – “Kraj”, Nina – “Dobrodosli”, Tamara – “Poguban let”, Verica – “Cujes li”: enjoyable ballads with authentic sound and beautiful vocals.
Glumci bend – “San” – interesting vibe and mix of genres.
Any balkan ethnic sound in a Monténégro s selection…. meehhhhhhh
I‘m rather intruiged by Tamara‘s and Abastasija‘s songs than Nina‘s. All in all, compared to former Montenegrin national finals, this one is surprisingly good.
Fingers crossed the RTCG screen production and stage sound will not let them down!
And so the national final season for Eurovision 2025 begins!
Won over by the lovely “To Ljubav Je” at first listen of this list. “Dobrodošli” and “Poguban Let” are also two well-built Balkan ballads and I like the pop-rock tune “Škorpija”.
It always feels special to attend the birth of a new national music festival for Eurovision. Can’t wait to November 27th, good luck Montenegro !
Your opinion: Bravo! “To Ljubsv je” and “Poguban let” are wow! 12 points from Spain
Nina’s song sounds promising! I like the lineup.
«?uješ Li» by Verica ?uljkovic is really beautiful.
Baryak sounds so good! It’s the only song I wanted to replay. Wishing them well!
[1] Nina Zizic – Dobrodosli [9/10]
[2] Anastasija Koprolcec – Kraj [7.5/10]
[3] Durda – [6/10]
I don’t bother ranking the others. While I like Nina’s song and think it will win Montesong, I feel like Eurovision watchers outside the Eurovision Bubble think it’s too cliché to qualify.
That’s the best assessment I have seen. But I do think it will qualify. Let’s hope the “producers” do not give it a death slot.
If Montenegro is lucky, they could be assigned to the second half of either semi final, and thereby not go anywhere near the death slot.
If they are assigned to the first half…..I think we know what will happen. But hopefully not. I doubt they will get the special treatment given to returning “powerhouse”?! Luxembourg last year
I swear, kiddos are overhyping Obala Raja because it has a drop in it…
Baryak stands out! I hope they’ll win!
i hope we Netherlands will be in the same semi as them, and performing after them
we have nothing to fear from these losers
The weird guy from The Netherlands didn’t take his pills today…
I don’t know what’s wrong with some users here, they couldn’t even more bitter.
As a fellow Dutchie I’m ashamed
Don’t be, he doesn’t represent Dutch people.
😉
Thank you
Damn bro who pissed you off to attack other user’s opinions on their faves?
They are all absolutely terrible and bellow average… snooze fest.
hoping they will withdraw again from ESC2026, if you can only add trash, better not take part
embarrassing that you have these amateur countries also taking part
not everyone can be as worldclass as the music elites like Sweden, Ukraine, Israel, Norway, Switzerland, Netherlands, Luxembourg
Sure Jan…
I didn’t know Switzerland, Israel or Luxembourg were part of any “music elite”, lol
Israel never flops so
No they just flop drop bombs murdering kids sure….
2022 was a big flop.
Clearly you are on something…
butthurt because Princess Ksenija Knezevic ain’t taking part
Isak is the best choice. The song is uplifting and instant and he is a great vocalist, so he’ll be able to execute very well.
You all are just biased on Nina because of Igranka lmao, no way that songs does anything at Eurovision and it’s nothing like you remember her for.
I’ve never experienced Nina Zizic with Igranka at Eurovision as 2014 was my first year. Though by watching the YouTube video of the act, I’d say Who See is a terrible song and Igranka had a terrible performance. Dobrodosli is by far a better song. From composition to lyrics, it doesn’t matter what: Dobrodosli excells in everything and doesn’t need effort to outshine Who See. Nina might even have the potential to do a Polina Genova (from being an NQ in an earlier participation to top 5 in a later participation) depending on how well it is performed live. And… Read more »
I also instantly really liked Isak’s song! I don’t speak the language, but the chorus is catchy with just enough repetition that I was singing along by the end without a struggle despite the barrier. Underrated banger for sure.
Nina stands out a bit, and it will need a good revamp if she wins.
The rest is just meeh, and the fact is, no matter which songs win this year, no final for Montenegro again.
Wait and see how Montenegro sacks up against the other countries once 2025 rolls around before making a declaration like that.
It’s either Baryak, Nina or Anastasija for me.
Same favourites
Pretty solid entries. The ones I liked the most are Anastasija – Kraj & Nina Zizic – Dobrodosli. Lots of potential here for Montenegro!
Montenegro have no voting appeal with western europe, they only receive points from balkan countries
so i don’t have high hopes for them at all, especially as this year will be a once again a very strong year with powerhouses Ukraine, Israel, Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg
Luxembourg is a powerhouse? They only had one entry in the last 30 years, lol. You’re delusional.
DELUSIONAL
could’ve also been a internal selection for Nina Zizic, of course
