In November Latvia turned up the heat on national finals season by releasing short snippets of the 20 songs competing in LTV Supernova 2025. And now that December has arrived, so too have the full-length studio cuts of this year’s competing entries — and fans are living for it.
From ethnic dance to electro-pop via emotional ballads and a Latvian language realness, this is a journey that winds more than the roads from Riga to Ventspils. Ready to dive in?
LTV Supernova: Latvia reveals full songs for 20 semi-finalists
You can listen to snippets of all 20 songs in the video below. The full playlist follows later in this post.
Among the acts are two Eurovision veterans. Citi Zēni (“Eat Your Salad”), who placed 14th in their semi-final at Eurovision 2022, and Justs (“Heartbeat”), who placed 15th in the grand final of Eurovision 2016. Another familiar name on the list is Markus Riva. The Latvian singer, TV personality, and Only Fans star has competed in nine editions of Latvia’s national selection, coming second in 2015 (“Take Me Down”) and 2019 (“You Make Me So Crazy”). This will be his 10th appearance.
The 20 participants will compete in the semi-final on February 1, 2025. The final follows a week later on February 8. The jury and televoters will contribute to 50% of the score in each show.

My TOP 15. I love the indie-vibe of the entire song playlist from SuperNova 2025. I’m just sad that we don’t have juryies anymore in the semi-finals. This prevents certain music genres from doing well at the contest, mainly down-tempo/singer-songwriter esque songs. The Salvador Sobrals and Common Linnets so to say. Because this selection of songs screams for refined ears…..that jurors mostly have. But here we go: . 01: Emilija – “HEARTBEAT“: Wonderful, warm, meaningful mid-tempo pop song, with Tracy Chapman-esque vocals, but with the necessary ‘yells’ that make it stick to your head. ÍF this goes to Eurovision, itcould be… Read more »
What a strong playlist this year from Supernova! I don’t think they’ll win, but at least can fight for a top 10 position
Hi ! Does anyone know how to get tickets for the final of Supernova in Riga ? ??
You can get them at bilesuparadize.lv
Bel Tempo x Legzdina with The Water. Common Linnets vibe, fabulous song
Marta Loveable , she sounds like Taylor Swift.
First bunch of songs really sounded well, then quality goes a bit downwards but still a strong selection compare to past years.
My top 5 would be something like this:
1. Justs — Fit Right
2. Bel Tempo x Legzdina — The Water
3. Citi Z?ni — Ramtai
4. Chris Noah — Romance Isn’t Dead
5. Adelina — Electric Love
Quite a strong Supernova this year! I like Tautumeitas the most. Legzdina and Kobra are also nice. Kobra gives me Vestules vibes a bit.
The Ludvig and Citi Zeni for me
Ok, off topic and fun : since we all like eurovision songs I made my own potentional 5 songs for Latvia:
Wich one had most potential if it was a Eurovision Song? Listen on Spotify. Vote !
1. Aija Andrejeva – Ragana
2. Oskars Deigelis – Êna
3. Paulina Paukstaitytè – Nemyléjau
4. Agné Sabulyté – Beaustanti Ausrel?
5. Norbertas- Sapnas
3 of these are Lithuanian lol
Nice songs actually, ragana and nemylejau favs if I must choose
I’ve been having Ramtai on repeat lol
Hope all artists out their song on Spotify this week
Pre-show, The Ludvig and Citi Zeni (surprisingly, as I didn’t like their 2022 entry) are my favorites but I have to congratulate Latvia this year bc almost none of the songs this year felt like an automatic skip to me for the first time 🙂
Mesmerized by Electric Love
But I doubt this sounds and looks on stage. Also, it feels more radio than Eurovision …
I really hope Latvia finally send Madara and Sinergija. Another belter by her with Bound By The Light.
Off topic – Dora artists and song titles have been released FYI
no need to repeat yourself troll
Lots of vibey songs in this one. First year I haven’t really struggled getting through the list of songs. I can’t say many of them are Eurovision songs though. Lots of well-produced songs, I just don’t know if they are impactful enough to get out of a semi. I would love to be proven wrong. I really really really want to like Markus Riva’s song but for me its a struggle to get through. I feel like he wrote the lyrics before composing the music and you can tell. I feel like the music is constantly trying to catch up… Read more »
Can I say that I really like Markus’ song?? Like, it’s quite catchy and this is his most serious attempt so far.
All I can say is, it is his least bad song.
what a hot guy.
Why hans’t he focused on modeling, hosting etc? why the insistence on singing?
He is both model, TV show host and also media personality in Latvia, so yeah 🙂
he actually makes most of his money by modelling and hosting, music is only one of the many things he does
The studio cut of Tautumeitas’ song was a bit of a letdown for me, especially coming after that live TV show performance. The live vocal harmonies really send this to another, euphoric level! Can’t wait to see this one translated to the stage.
Ramtai is everything I’ve ever wanted as a Latvian. It is THE song that brings such a good vibe and beat yet is still so Latvian at it’s core, absolutely incredible.
Finally, a listenable year of Supernova…
could’ve also just been a internal selection for The Ludvig, and saved some budget for the staging plans in Basel
You clearly don’t understand how budgeting for state funded media works – they are obliged to make something like Supernova (or another entertainment show), otherwise they just would not get the money and Eurovision budget would stay the same.
most of these songs are so americanized LOL
more like Latvia being USA 2.0
The Ludvig’s 2017 entry ”I’m in love with you” was my favourite by a mile, and probably would’ve done better than Triana Park.
I’m delighted his comeback is just as strong 7 years later.
We know he can sing because I just watched his performance and he was so good for only 16! He also won the jury and special Spotify streams number! Since his song has televote appeal, he MIGHT landslide this!
The Ludvig is the best option for Latvia (preshow). It will be a sure qualifier and then who knows where this song can be taken with great staging. Aminata happened 10 Years ago. Let’s get another TOP 10 or TOP 5 again, Latvia.
The Ludvig are obviously winning, the one with most funds, connections always wins in NFs tbh
And how do you know that?
No, he’s winning because he will have one of the best jury appeal voices, as well as televote appeal songs
My top fave is Katrina Gupalo’s “Scarlett Challenger”. So much talent and creativity!! I cannot wait to see it on stage!!!
Justs – “Fit Right” is very strong as well. Really nice beat and energy.
Honourable mention:
Sinergija – “Bound by the Light” – ethereal and pleasant. Very atmospheric.
So Latvia this year has several really really options! So cool to see! After hearing every song carefully my standouts are: Marcus: good track but nothing original, a lot of music without lyrics though, I heard a Tattoo tribute in the song 😉 , wouldn’t be my pick but nice one. Citi Zeni: talking about originality this one is very original, a cool one but very messy to my ears at the same time so I wouldn’t pick this one. Just: same as the others too above, good song, nice to listen but also too messy, not my pick but… Read more »
I meant “really really good options”…
It’s a solid selection overall. I’m enjoying a lot Zelt, Scarlett Challenger, The Water, and Bound by the Light.
Wow! Is this the best Latvian NF in ten years? Most of these songs could qualify! There’s at least five good options and some, like Ligo, REALLY stand out, to the point of it could actually give Latvia a top 3 placement if staged correctly! The potential is endless! A lot of songs as well that could end up doing well in the charts!
Team L?go for the win ???
May The Ludvig win! ???
Ligo – Latvian Amar Pelos Dois, meaning it’ll do well at ESC, might even have potential to win ESC
There´s nothing musically common between Amar Pelos Dois (one of my favourites ever) and Ligo (which I like)
Please…
Truly such a strong selection!Definetely the strongest Supernova selection EVER!It will definetely be very interesting because eventhough there are the biggest favorites now(Ligo and Ramtai) but still there definetely is not a runway favorite like Dons was and here it is not because there are many similarly bad songs but here there are many very strong songs which can definetely do really well in ESC.I see Ligo and Ramtai as being huge televote magnets in ESC therefore I think both would definetely qualify Latvia to the final, maybe giving them some momentum after many NQ and Dons finally qualyfying.

Latvia are easily qualifying and doing a top 5 result as well
they always qualify lol
KoBra are very interesting !
Justs’s song is disappointing. Strange, but after all of Markus Riva’s attempts this one I like the best, his entry this time is quite catchy.
my pick is Tate… I mean Greta
I love The Ludvig, Sinergija, Citi Zeni and Tepat. If any of these win Supernova, I’ll be satisfied. Especially with The Ludvig and Sinergija.
There are more good songs, such as Emilija’s Heartbeat and Greta’s Monster just to name a few, but those aren’t for me.
Supernova is at least very stacked this year. Did not expect I would ever say that.
Same favourites !
it is crazy that i didn’t expect that much of Supernova 2025 (and i’m latvian) but after listening to all the songs I CAN’T CHOOSE JUST 1 FAVORITE, every song has its own magic
this is very strong year and i’m sure the live show will be interesting because usually we have 1 strong fan favorite, this time the show and vocals will determine who is going to win. good luck to all of them!! <3
I’m so glad that you feel your country has a strong selection for once. Do you feel like any song from here could go to eurovision and you wouldn’t be disappointed?
I am so happy with this selection! My absolute favourite is Tepat. But I wish Citi z?ni to win because there is a story behind this song and really – each Latvian feels what Ramtai is, I want to see how they are going to show this on stage.
Love to hear folksy vibes in songs by Tautumeitas, Ludvig, and even Markus Riva
Can you tell us more? Does this “Ramtai” feel have an equivalent outside the country?
Such a great question. It is very difficult to describe but it is like mantra. We use this word as a chorus in many Latvian folk songs. It is about harmony with nature, the bridge between the past and the present, the heartbeat of the nation. And if you have heard about or visited our National Song and Dance Festival, you would probably feel that vibe. I am sure Citi zeni will stage this with some Latvian traditional dance elements to translate it better. Every Latvian city and village has their own folk dance and/or song groups. This “Ramtai” is… Read more »
This is so interesting. It’s one of those things that make it worth following the contest – amazing, enriching stuff that’s almost unlikely to come across otherwise.
On the other hand, is the “ramtai” concept similar or close to “aija” – the Sudden Lights gem of 2022?
Can it be compared to Lithuania’s 2023 sort of spell in Lithuanian? I know it’s a different country and a different culture.
No, Aija is a phrase used in lullabies only – gentle sound to make a baby fall asleep.
Thanks.
The Ludvig’s Ligo word also acts like a mantra, repeated rhythmically to invoke joy, unity, and connection to nature. We use it in all Midsummer Celebration songs.
And clear spellbinding song is Bur Man Laimi (Spell Me Luck) by Tautumeitas.
Beautiful!! Thank you so much for explaining things.
Thank you, Katrina, it was helpful. Can you please tell us what Zelts and Sadzejot are about? I’ve translated the titles, but I mean what’s the message / idea behind the songs?
This is just my interpretation.
To me, “Zelts” (meaning “Gold”) symbolizes superficiality—something that eventually fades away, revealing a person’s true core beneath. The song seems to be sung from the perspective of someone who has been hurt, expressing pity for those who remain shallow.
“Sadzejot,” which means “to write a poem,” reflects the struggle of finding the right words to express yourself, especially when you lack the experience or courage to do so. It’s about learning how to open up to the world or, more specifically, to another person.
Thank you very much. 🙂 It’s very helpful!
The Ludvig the Best
a no brainer
TeamMarkusRiva, such a wholesome dance banger, am already bopping to it! the chorus similar to rain on me, excellently made, works perfectly
this can deliver latvia’s best result in recent years i think
