Those who love Eurodrama and shock results during national final season might still remember Poland’s Tu bije serce Europy! Wybieramy hit na Eurowizję! Local favourite Jann and his song “Gladiator” won the televote but lost out on the trip to Eurovision 2023 after only finishing fourth with the jury, with Blanka ultimately flying the Polish flag in Liverpool instead. The selection became the centre of internet theories and accusations of cronyism.

In an attempt to clear the air and to create more transparency, Polish Eurovision fans have been seeking answers for almost two years now.

OGAE Poland, the Eurovision fans club in the country, filed a case at the Voivoidship Administrative Court of Warsaw. In a court decision on 6 June this year, the court ruled that TVP should have published the detailed results of the televoting. Almost half a year later, TVP has now provided OGAE Poland with the results.

Polish Eurovision news site Eurowizja.org noted that “The [court] in Warsaw agreed that the results of viewers’ voting and the indication of whether a notary supervised the course of the pre-selection constitute public information, and [TVP], by refusing to provide this information, violated the provisions of the Code of Administrative Procedure.”

Poland’s Eurovision 2023 selection televote results

The results, published by OGAE Poland and Eurowizja.org, reveal Jann won the televoting with over 18,000 votes. This equates to 41% of all votes cast — a landslide victory.

Blanka, the eventual overall winner, received a little over 6,000 votes, which was 13% of the total. Dominik Dudek closely followed in third with just under 200 votes less than Blanka.

The full breakdown is as follows:

  1. Jann – 18,665 votes – 41%
  2. Blanka – 6,020 votes – 13%
  3. Dominik Dudek – 5,823 votes – 13%
  4. Yan Majewski – 4,576 votes – 10%
  5. Felivers – 4,123 votes – 9%
  6. Alicja Szemplińska – 3,647 votes – 8%
  7. Maja Hyzy – 857 votes – 2%
  8. Kuba Szmajkowski – 751 votes – 2%
  9. Natasza – 571 votes – 1%
  10. Ahlena – 340 votes – 1%

Although the full public breakdown has now been unveiled, the individual votes of the jury remain under wraps. The court decided that these results do not have to be published.

OGAE Poland has stated to Eurowizja that they disagree with this and will submit an appeal. This appeal will be dealt with at the Supreme Administrative Court of Poland.

What do you think about the full breakdown of the televote from Poland’s Eurovision 2023 selection? Do you think TVP should also publicise the detailed jury results? Let us know in the comments down below!

Ok this is petty at this point! Imagine not moving on 2 years later… believe me he would end lower than Blanka did.

Jann needs to be internally selected after this fiasco.

I think it is about time, that polish fans move on. They can’t change the result now, and besides that, Jann was really bad on stage. People voted for him, because it was him. Not because he was great. I think he would have stayed in the semifinal. Happy Christmas to you all.

I do think that the notion of a public and jury split is spoiling the contest, because unless they agree, either side will complain. Only those who like to bleat endlessly about controversies on YouTube are happy with this picture.

See this is why it sucks when national selections reduce jury and televote to one set of 1-8, 10, 12 each. They should let the jurors points stand alone and assign the same number of points poportunately. So if a single juror assigns 58 points total and you have 5 jurors you get 290 points from the jury altogether. 290 televote points in proportion comes to roughly ~ Jann: 119 Blanka: 38 Dominik: 38 Yan: 29 Felivers: 26 Alicja: 23 Maja: 6 Kuba: 6 Natasza: 3 Ahlena: 2 (I had to take a point off somewhere to make it come… Read more »

It’s interesting but I do like this way of counting points. It’s how they do it in melfest. Mostly I get concerned by juries having more power by skewing their own results to drag down certain artists. But then I do worry that this can overly skew results to a super popular artist in a country that doesn’t vote in great numbers like they do in Sweden. We would’ve never had Chanel’s SloMo or Salvador’s Amar Pelos Dois at Eurovision if televote a were proportionally distributed

Jann had a interesting song and i think it would have scored better than Blanka especially with the public i think Poland could have ended up being 11th maybe 12th

If you are 19th or 12th really doesn’t matter.

Not sure. Blanka got 8th from the public and don’t think Jann would’ve done better. And while she didn’t do well with the juries not sure we saw anything vocally sound in the Polish selection to indicate he would’ve done better in Liverpool. If Croatia and Serbia finished with around the same jury points as Blanka—not sure why Jann would’ve gotten more.

Still not over what they did to Jann. His song literally talked about the corruption of the music industry. The irony.

Every One Knows Blanka Was The Real Winner And It Was Proven In Many Court Documents That There Was A Lot Of Bots And Paid Accounts Who Voting For Jann So It Makes Since This Results .
If Bejba Is Not The True Winner Then Please Tell Me Who Is A More Sucessful Singer In Poland , Blanka Or Jann ? The Answer Is Simple Because Its Blanka And She Is A Talented Queen She Is A Good Artist So Stop Your Hatred And Misogniy To Her At Once .

Blanka did a good job in Liverpool but not in the NF, her vocals were terrible back than. Also, I can’t imagine that thousands of people dislike her song because she’s a woman. I mean, three women finished in the top 5 in Liverpool and she even received 81 points from the viewers. The misogyny argument is just stupid

Blanka won fair and square. What does it matter who had the most tele? There was also a jury. Why is there no appeal in court against Nemo’s victory? Because Baby Lasagna had a lot more tele

In other selections the ju ry members themselves give out their points during the respective shows. Tr ansp arency and ac coun t ability when it comes to public institutions and ta xpa yers monies should be paramount. This situation here seems bizarre from all angles.
