Today LRT has broken the news regarding the exciting list of 45 hopeful artists in competition to represent Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest. There’s a healthy number of new artists at the pre-selection, however, as per usual with Lithuanian national pre-selection, it is filled with a number of familiar faces. Ieva Zasimauskaite, who triumphed at Lithuanian national pre-selection final in Žalgirio Arena in Kaunas back in 2018, will be taking part again. Another memorable face is Petunija, who is returning after placing a respectable fourth place in Pabandom iš Naujo 2023 final with her ballad ‘Love Of My Life’. Another previous representative of Lithuania, Vilija, who sang for the country in Copenhagen in 2014, is once again entering Eurovizija.LT.

There’s a slight change in the participant list.Evelina Gancewska has pulled out due to her song. Aurora being accepted to compete at in Croatia, so there’s a new artist taking her place. Aust?ja Lukait? will sing Kas esu be tav?s?

45 is too much for a national final in my opinion, I would prefer 30-35 to cut out some dreck, but at the end of the day, only 10 will be serious vying for the ticket to Eurovision.

No big names this year. On paper, Ieva Zasimauskait? and Gebrasy should be among the favorites. However, both have some disadvantages. Ieva won in 2018 only because the competition was weak. I don’t think she will have a better song than “When We’re Old.” Gebrasy, while a great composer, lacks stage presence and charisma. Gebrasy is loved by the jury but not so much by televoters. I’ve lost any hope for Vilija. It seems she participates year after year only to remind people of herself, but she never brings a good song. What really interests me is Matt Len. I… Read more »

I don’t give a flying fig about names because what matters to me is the song. I don’t expect every song to be a masterpiece in this selection because somebody has to stay behind in the semi finals, but I hope the ten finalists have something worthy to offer at Eurovision. Otherwise, Lithuania could be risking its qualification streak and miss the final for the first time since 2019.

Of course, what matters most is the song and the performance, but since we only have the list of artists, this analysis is based on that.

Yet Lithuania’s song in 2018 did really well for them.

If I’m reading this list right, I think about 20 out of 45 songs are in Lithuanian so we’ve got a much larger proportion of national language in the national final.

It’s more about the show with 45 acts, to entertain lithuanian viewers in the most dark and monotonous months. Anw, it’s a nice time to shine for some artist’s knowing that there is not a lot big names this year ?

Perhaps there will be surprises, but it’s still gonna be a slog to go through since we only have 10 finalists out of 45. Who do you think are the most likely finalists of this lot?

You never know what you’re gonna get. Sometimes a familiar name or Eurovision alum could have a terrible song and a complete unknown could have the best song of the selection. The biggest challenge is gonna be processing the good songs from the not-so-good.

Its Time For Lithuania To Not Qualify Again

Knowing 90% of the songs will be lackluster, 45 entries is too much.

45! Wow that’s a lot, even more than Melfest and SanRemo ! As I already said Lithuania has big ambitions for this season. It will be the biggest National Final of the season.

45 is way too many, so expect this to be a quantity over quality national selection.

Let me be optimistic 😉 Latvia and Estonia surprised me in a good way this season so why not Lithuania. In the final there will be 10 acts, it’s pretty classical for a National Final at the end. 45 acts, 5 semi-finals, 1 final in a stadium in front of 22 000 people, definetely the biggest NF and we should point and admire the fact that a small country like Lithuania is able to do that. I’d love to have that in my country. To have a TV show esc related weekly during 6 weeks, ending by a big show… Read more »

I’m not saying you can’t be excited or optimistic for Lithuania, I like to see the country do well myself, but I have learned from watching this selection closely to keep my expectations a bit lower and Anticipate a quantity over quality approach. There will or hopefully be a few gems in there that could be good choices for Lithuania, but there’s gonna be a lot of filtering to get there. When all 45 songs are out, it will feel overwhelming and feel like a terrible national final, but once you narrow down on the 10 finalists, it’ll feel a… Read more »
