Malta Eurovision Song Contest returns in 2025 as the nation’s selection for Basel. And now, broadcaster TVM has revealed the 24 semi-finalists who will be competing for the chance to wave the Maltese flag.

The line-up includes a number of familiar faces, including Eurovision alumni.

Kurt Calleja represented Malta at Eurovision 2012 in Baku, and is now back to try again 13 years later.

Jessika and Fabrizio Faniello have also both appeared on the Eurovision stage — the former for San Marino in 2018, and the latter for Malta in 2001 and 2006. This time, they’ve decided to join forces and form the trio JVF, alongside fellow singer Victorio Gauci.

The semi-finalist reveal also came with short snippets of each of the songs.

Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025: Semi-finalists

The semi-finals of Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025 are set to take place on Tuesday 4th and Thursday 6th February.

A combination of jury and public voting will choose eight songs from each show to advance to the final, which will follow on Saturday 8th February.

Whoever is chosen to represent Malta at Eurovision 2025 will hope to take the country back to the grand final following Sarah Bonnici’s unfortunate last place finish in semi-final two at the 2024 contest.

What do you make of the line-up for Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025? Whose song are you most excited to hear in full? Let us know in the comments below.

I was honestly expecting a dumpster fire from Malta, but the lineup isnt too bad. Some decent songs in there although weirdly the majority of the snippets sound so similar. Some of the songs are just so generic but the one that stood out fot me was Kantera. Will have a listen to all the songs in their full versions before making a decision but currently from the snippets, that’s the one that caught my attention. And I just wish Fabrizio would stop. He had his moment a few times already with his gorgonzola-esque songs. Last year his song was… Read more »

I hope Mieghek Biss by Kurt Anthony is as good as his last entry in San Marino.
He was downright robbed. Both Maltese Kurts battling for the title in Malta, this will be interesting!!!!

So generic, nothing outstanding. Strange, but actually Kurt Caleja’s song sounds the best from all these snippets…

‘Kant’ will be my guilty pleasure. Mainly because of the title. 😛

To my ears there just one snippet that sounds interesting enough to evoke an interesting the The Festival performance.

Kurt Calleja, unrecognizable from his 2012 entry

also he is way better than ”this is the night”

a veteran in muzika muzika as well, which he also won recently with ”bla tarf”

Some familiar names in there…

The one’s I’m most excited about are Miriana Conte & Justine Shorfid.
Justine already proved at X-Factor that she has an amazing voice & stage presence. Miriana should’ve went to Eurovision in her last 2 attempts, her entry last year was robbeddddd.

Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first “fire” “desire” rhyme of the season. Surprised that given the success of Malta at Junior this year that they wouldn’t have selected more Maltese songs/ballads. It seems like your standard mix of Melfest-light songs. Was expecting to see Aidan, Matt Blxck, Erba and Ryan Hili back given their recent track record and enthusiasm from the fan community so a bit shocking none entered (or were selected).

Considering that two of those names have been at the last two editions, it’s probably good for them to take a little break.
