Finland has emerged as a strong player at Eurovision over recent years and they don’t plan on stopping in 2025. Broadcaster Yle has unveiled the seven acts that will be competing in their national final, UMK25.
The big name for Eurovision fans will be the return of Erika Vikman. She previously competed at Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu in 2020 with the iconic “Cicciolina,” ultimately finishing as the runner-up. Five years later, she is back to try again and go one step further.
It will be a while before we get to hear Erika Vikman’s song. Her new entry, “Ich Komme,” will be presented last out of the seven competitors.
The full release schedule is as follows:
- Thursday 9th: Neea River – “Nightmares”
- Firday 10th: Nelli Matula – “Hitaammin hautaan”
- Monday 13th: Costee – “Sekaisin”
- Tuesday 14th: Viivi – “Aina”
- Wednesday 15th: One Morning Left – “Puppy”
- Thursday 16th: Goldielocks – “Made of”
- Friday 17th: Erika Vikman – “Ich komme”
Songs will be released at 00:00 EET each day (22:00 GMT / 23:00 CET the prior evening).
Tapio Hakanen, the chair of UMK’s professional jury, said: “This year’s UMK artist and song selection is an amazing showcase of the current level of Finnish songwriting and production. It is fantastic to see both fresh independent artists, and some of the biggest names in our country participating. One of the special features of this year is that the group of artists includes many exceptionally talented vocalists. I’m sure that we’ll witness and hear incredible UMK performances in February at the Nokia Arena in Tampere”.
What do you make of the UMK25 line-up? Whose song are you most excited to hear? Let us know in the comments below.
Erika to win!
UMK is one of MY FAVORITE SELECTIONS, but since 2022 it’s refused to give me my winner LOL. In 2022 it was Bess, in 2023 it was Kuumaa, and 2024 it was Sara. Funny enough ALL of those songs were #1 on Spotify leading up to UMK. Here’s hoping 4th time’s the charm but who knows XD
Sara was #3 I think but she was still the most streamed leading up to UMK
Oh yeeees baby!!! I’m already celebrating it. And even with a German song title. Nice 😀
i’m sad Samu isn’t in the line up after all
Kind of the same imo, but with Myriam. Even the clues sort of hinted that
Such a strong lineup!! I don’t even know who I’d expect most of, all seem so promising, so let’s wait until all songs are released 😉 The 1st one already released was already really good, though perhaps not a UMK winner.
Ecstatic lineup and big names, excited to hear what’s to come!
Seems like a strong selection once again, nice!
I really hope this will be Erika’s year.
Let’s be respectful and give everyone a fair chance, then decide.
Thankfully it is not called Es kommt Mir…..
Erikaaaaaaa is back! I am so excited for this! For the past 4 years UMK artist reveal was a real nail-bitter for me. I would always hope to see Erika’s name in the list. This year, I almost gave up and was not even hoping that much to see her name again. And I got her backkk. Cicciolina was my favorite back in 2020. I hope she comes up with something great again. She is definitely my favorite before we hear the songs. She is iconic for me and I hope her song is UMK (and possibly ESC) winning material… Read more »
Cicciolina was not just my 2020 favorite in UMK. It’s like one of my favorite national final songs ever. I love that song and I listen to it all the time and I watch the performance at least once a week. I show it to all my friends. And it’s not just Ciciiolina, there are other songs from Erika I love so much. And this is what ESC and nations finals are great for. They introduce talent that we would not be able to come across any other way. I am aware she’s not performing Cicciolina again and that my… Read more »
I’m seeing three scenarios here:
1. Erika wins UMK, then she wins the televote like Käärijä in ESC but comes second to Sweden with Måns
2. Erika comes second, just like Elvana, as they both did in 2020, and that’s why Eurovision will be cancelled again
3. One Morning Left wins because it’s metal and humorous, Finland qualifies but ends up 20th in the final.
Or neither Måns nor Erika win. You assume he would win Melodifestivalen easily
Again: How do we know that he will win Melodifestivalen cause we haven’t heard his song yet. You act like he is even more popular than Loreen is. Many are so tired of him
Better roster than last year! YLE treated fans with some serious fan service! Ngl, dunno what to expect from the acts but the releases started with the right foot!
Oh they left Erika for the end
Love Nightmares. Strong start
Always excited for Finland as they have such great songs every year and songs that don’t go to ESC can sometimes be better than other song entries from other countries.
Finally Erika is back!
