Poll: Who should win Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025?
You can vote for as many acts as you want. But you’ll only be able to vote once — so choose wisely.
Who did you vote for? Which song do you think could give Malta the best opportunity at Eurovision 2025? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
How is Miriana winning this poll? It’s sounds shockingly cheap compared to the vocal talent of heaven sent.
Heaven sent was made for the Eurovision stage
Heaven sent or Kant are the only realistic qualifiers on this list.
This is hysterical. Next year, please, we need “Richard” and “Richard Kant”.
Or Isaac
I mean, get real. It doesn’t matter what KANT means in Maltese. Nobody says “serving singing”. People do say “serving c***”, though. This isn’t Zorra. Within this context, it’ll get censored by the EBU if it wins MESC, and the whole thing will lose its USP. Enjoy it by all means, but forget about seeing it in Basel.
And it was done on purpose. The song is completely in English except for the word “Kant”, to try and escape censoring. And to be honest the song isn’t that good and Mariana, although admittedly having a great voice is not really that popular amongst the Maltese. Her singing persona puts many people off.
Totally agree. I also have a problem with songs that rely on one gimmick. Malta is spoilt for options this year, with at least another 4 servicable songs apart from Kant, and Kantera and Kristy being very great options. Why choose the controversial one?
Kurt Calleja will end up being chosen. His song is very catchy. Good song
If Kant is chosen, I think the EBU will disapprove it and ask for a change in lyrics but still in my top 8
Other tops are
Kantera
Kristi Spiteri
Victoria
JVF
Adria Twins
Haley
Kelsey Bellante
Yes, they could call it Hurricane, or October Rain, perhaps
They can’t, it’s a maltanese word meaning singing. To ban it, they’d have to ban singing, song, song etc in every language killing a lot of songs.
If the songs Unicorn and Toy got a baby it would sound like Kant ?
From a lacklustre bunch, Kant is clearly the standout. I’m unsure if it stands out from the shock factor, humour, crudeness or Miriam’s vocals – but at least it stands out and has a chance to qualify, because nothing else does.
You seem to be the only one who think so. This year, I can’t make up my mind between Kantera and Kirsty … both amazing and instant songs, and one will be left behind.
Kant is topping this poll and has the most views on YouTube and TikTok. It’s quite obviously the fan favourite.
But that doesn’t always mean it will be the actual winner of the national final to go to Eurovision. We’ve seen this before.
Same. Kantera and Kristy Spiteri are both and potential top-10 in actually ESC.
#servingkant
Come on Kurt Anthony hafna hafna Malta
Kantera because they have the potential for a satisfactory result like songs like Trenuletul and Jako had.
We’ve heard songs like Trenuletul and Jako a million times. If every country sent a folk song just to get a ”satisfactory result”, we’d have a very boring Eurovision season.
Whilst I love nations culture being represented on stage, if the song is not unique, different or special – we shouldn’t hype it up just because it would get them an okay result.
Kant will be disqualified if chosen, seriously playing with words here in very very bad taste effort: Yes i know its in Maltese and it means something else in Maltese, but it wont get any radio play in any country because it sounds exactly like another particular vulgar word, pronounced the same and if you listen carefully the same conurtation can be applied in the lyrics. Pitty its quite catchy in tune , but come on now this is rediculous. Nothing more! Im not being prudent im just saying i don’t like songs with swearing , its not necessary. And… Read more »
It would have been better if the entirety if this song was in Maltese.
I agree with you. This song is very problematic. Even though it means something different in Maltese, the play with words is deliberate. The word it ‘sounds like’ is not just any swear word, it’s a very offensive word in the English language.
Unless you’re Australian where you use it as a cheeky term of endearment with your friends/mates.
There is no way in the UK this word or the sound of this would be used before the watershed, OFCOM will be overloaded with calls. People whose first language is not English must understand that there are words in the English language that are highly and deeply offensive. To an extent, they are not funny but are of purely bad taste. And I do not want my 10 year child listening to this, it actually makes the song very cheap. She should sing the entire song in Maltese, then we wouldn’t have this issue, because we know this is… Read more »
I think you forget the word ‘f***’ gets played uncensored in 35 Eurovision countries.
Nope. To ban it, as it’s the maltanese word for singing, the EBU would have to ban the words singing, song, sing, etc in every language to uphold their ruling, which they can’t feasibly do.
Strongest MESC in many years
It’s a cool bunch, on first listen I’m enjoying loads Aziz/a, Breaking the Cycle, G?a?liet, Lablab, Qalb ma’ Qalb, Unheard, Whistleblower, and Yo listen. And I’m giving points to Te amo and Kant.
Heaven Sent!!!!
Kantera!!!
Kantera for Basel. please
Kantera ftw! Very original and we need folk music in ESC. Grand Final top 15 at least!
Kant is overhyped in my opinion but knowing the taste of the Eurovision fandom it would be a grand finalist in may.
My 2nd favourite is Heaven Sent for sure. A very decent pop song that could be a good choice as well.
I think Malta have to choose from these 3 songs and the gf is guaranteed.
My winner is JVF.
Great song!
But all in all: A strong lineup. Well done Malta!
Malta having a strong selection was not on my bingo card for this year.
Kantera have such a great song, very catchy and very ethnic maltese enhanced by the flavours of some of India’s music culture as well as some celtic fusion vibes
however my main favourite is Dario & Zeppi, such a traditional lovely piece of art, very nice blend between oldschool and modern sounds as well, this can even give Shkodra Elektronike a run for their money i think
i also like Adria Twins, Kurt Calleja and the maltese keiino – JVF
Kant reminds me a lot of Inbal Bibi – ZAZA which was regrettably, putting politics aside, one of my favourite NF songs of 2022.
Really decent selection though, I knew they were on a good path after last years line-up
also, we know miriana conte is a very capable performer when given the right stage. i also really enjoy kantera and would be happy with a win there but it would be destined for a moldova 2023-esque result, which would be a victory for malta’s standards but i feel like the ceiling with Kant is way higher
ALSO just for another pointless comparison, i really like Heaven Sent too, but it sounds a bit like a UMK loser; which is a compliment as much as it is an indicator of it being a bit underwhelming
Malta has great options!! I absolutely love Heaven sent!
Juno, Kant, Lablab are very interesting too.
What about Luxembourgish songs too? They are out from long ago
tbh I have only heard a recap and 3 whole songs, but this seems like a strong national final. Well done Malta!!
It’s definitely an improvement over previous editions. May the best song win.
I’ve only watched a recap of MESC on youtube, but Kantera stood out to me. I don’t think Malta has ever sent something this ethnically folky. But I wish the best of luck to who ever wins.
There’s something very Angry Birds about it idk
I agree – it’s quite cringe.
Victoria my favourite for sure….kantera and Justine right after…
I would *like* Kantera because it’s so different but I can see how we end up with Stefan Galea. Not sure how a song about Serving Kant will get to Eurovision without censorship?
Kant is the maltese word for singing
Even so, this word is pronounced exactly the same and its the only word in Maltese. Come on this is vulgar! and a play on words.
Lots of really nice choices for Malta. I see potential in Heaven Sent and Lalarata…..
I’m also drawn to Still I Rise, Control and Juno.
My personal favorite has to be LabLab though. It almost feels like it was written after a visit to the Wiwibloggs comment section, lol.
