Her UMK 2020 song “Cicciolina” celebrated a porn star who found power through sexual liberation. And now, five years on, Erika Vikman is once again celebrating sensuality with “Ich komme” — I come. And, judging from the video thumbnail, the song is built on plenty of orgasm and many pairs of legs.
Ahead of the song reveal, the UMK jury framed it as high art. They said: “ICH KOMME feels like a piece of art that takes Erika Vikman to a new level. The song combines traditional Finnish disco with a remarkable composition and lyrics, wrapping it up with the rave aesthetic of electronic music. The song is original and so approachable that the lyrics of the chorus will surely catch you at the first listening. The climax, pun intended, of the song is one of the most exciting in UMK’s history.”
Erika Vikman — “ICH KOMME!”
“People should be loved exactly as they are,” Erika says. “When a person is allowed to be themselves, they are the freest of all and can be happy.”
She hopes to help other people attain that freedom and joy. Through her sensual music, she believes that she offers some sensual healing.
“At regional gigs, there is always at least one person in the audience who I see experiencing a sense of freedom during my gig. In small venues, diversity is not always viewed positively. In that moment, I am an asset to them and they are an asset to me.”
Although Vikman has had a long and successful career for someone her age, there have been plenty of setbacks.
“After the corona period, I got a total burnout and deep depression. The biggest challenge of my life has been the struggle with my own mind.”
So what of her song, “ICH KOMME”?
“In this song, you take control. Everything related to your sexuality is in your own hands. Pleasure should not be taboo.”
UMK 2025 will take place on Saturday 8 February, starting at 20:00 CET / 21:00 EET. The show will be held inside Nokia Arena in Tampere. Hosts Sanni and Jasmin Beloued will guide viewers through proceedings.
What a piece of art this is…Everything about this song screams eurovision winner, honestly i would be so surprised if it didn’t landslide in UMK
While I’m not too fond of the utterly overwhelming sexuality of the song, its production is spectacular. The climax is done in a manner of trying to imitate the real thing but in music. It’s excellent. Hopefully it won’t be too revealing on stage so it keeps some of secrecy in the lyrics which make it unique. It’s definitely a yes from me, judging mostly by the music. I dare to say it’s better structured than Cicciolina. However, how will it perform in Eurovision is an entire different story. Puppy has better chances of going to the final than her,… Read more »
it is a chaotic mess. the song is not catchy and does not stick to your head the way Cicciolina and Cha Cha Cha did. The biggest advantage is Erika’s stage charisma and the possible ‘controversial staging’. I was disappointed.
thirst trap
it’s a fine song, but a bit overrated in my opinion. not a winner imo
Here’s what YLE thinks about EBU’s new Duty of Care Protocol! Erika trolling the new EBU ‘family friendly’ profile. Power to them both ???
Sounds like German porn movie soundtrack!!
just heard all the songs, she’s winning this…not even in a landslide…it’s a fk DAM BURST!!
This is definitely getting to #1 on the Finnish charts
after reading the comments, i was expecting sex all over it, and it’s not even that. sleazy but pretty tamed actually…
a banger still
Some of the lyrics don’t translate well. What has been translated into ‘fallnin love’ is actually something like give in (or surrender) to the hole (lovi is kind of a long hole, and into the ‘hole’ is written ‘loveen’, so it has nothing to do with love ?. The lyrics are well and truly saucy without saying anything using proper names except buttcheek (grab my buttcheek).
The visuals will be amazing but the song lacks in places. I can’t see it winning Eurovision but happy to be proved wrong
It’s definitely one of the most in-your-face, climax-filled, anthemic songs in UMK, probably in ESC, too. It’s a hot mess, but it’s so in-your-face that it grabs you. IT grab me from the first listen.
Unfortunately, I am not confident she will perform it well. Her vocals are not that good to support energetic songs.
But…
the song is anthemic! And I see a lot of staging potential.
And please not cheesy staging like Cicciolina.
It’s a song that the only other artist on the planet who would release that would be Lady Gaga. Ich komme.
After listening a couple of times, I still don’t know, the song doesn’t grab me, I don’t think good staging will change how I feel,. It’s not for me, and that’s it for now.
At least she is showing herself…The song is okay, but it’s a typical eurovision song and I was hoping for a bit more originality and variety in musical genres. I don’t have a favorite yet.
My favorite from UMK this year! I love the liquid gold dripping off everyone and the sexiness Erika conveys to the viewer.
It’s sleazy but why is that a bad thing? Is this not what Lady Gaga has been doing and sometimes still does? It is different from being sleazy just for the sake of it. This is actually very word play, clever
I love it !
Visually reminds a bit Alien3 or 4 with all that glycerine(honey) never seen before.
It’s like a Hetrosexual Frankie Goes to Hollywood.
Is this Lola Ferrari’s long lost granddaughter? I LOVE IT! Eurovision season has officially begun for me 🙂
Honestly nothing I was expecting, but if she would have brought a song like “Cicciolina”, would that have been new and exciting rather than reprise of the old song?
Really love this, the stage show shouldn’t be too sexual, so it leaves a hint of mystery on it. Regardless, this is a song that will create a moment!
Another Kant… Aren’t some artists able to attract attention to their art in some more creative ways?
This is really fun and exciting but is also a proper song unlike Puppy which is just baby talk and shouting. Ich komme for Erika x
Sounds like you are cumming
As a german this is ultimate cringe
As a German you have no right to call other countries acts cringe ?
As a German: This is a masterpiece!
Well, you did have Jendrik represent you so you should know all about cringe pretty well
Is Erika going to crawl around in a puddle of oil on stage? It’s possible..
Many people say it’s sexual, but “ich komme” can also mean that she is going to meet her friend and eat pizza. I guess the song means “Sorry I am late. But im coming there in 10 minutes”.
It could, but once you combine it with the finnish lyrics, it is obvious that this song is not about meeting a friend and I’m coming late. It is really sexual and kind of in your face about it.
I am Finnish, and can confirm it’s about meeting a friend. Älä valehtele Viivin blogissa.
I am from Finland XD. I know what im talking about, its about meeting friends.
Yes, pizza in bed might also be involved, who knows with this friend Erika has to introduce herself to (I’m Erika, nice to meet you) ?.
This song is incredible and gets better with every listen. I can envision a grand, epic stage show that would also perform well at Eurovision.
And if she wins, imagine her coming back as a special guest in, say, 2055, to perform her winning song…
Vulgar and disgusting
You sound like someone who has never climaxed in their life
I have but it is still disgusting. Thanks. Confirmed as my last place if it wins
Get a life and get out more Saddo
Iwouldn’t call it vulgar but classy is something else.
I am fine as I am. I hate you too
I like it more than her song from 2020, but that’s not saying much. Pretty sure this is a two horse race between this and Puppy. My choice would be Erika. Now let’s hope the staging will be racy and spicy but not vulgar and cheap.
Aina or Ich Komme should win.
I hope she has bears and fire again!
Haha, oh no! I really want the video theme on stage. Anything else will ruin it.
I love this song, not exactly what was expected maybe, but this feels really unique and i can’t remmeber seeing anything like this in Eurovision in recent years. Most likely not everyone’s cup of tea, but the other option is Puppy, hich surely is even more dividing 😀 At the same time it feels little bit mysterious, bold and also fun in certain parts (1:10 ->), even though the whole song itself is not something that would win Eurovision. But surely this would get to the final. And the ending just gets pure berserking, i could imagine that in Eurovision… Read more »
I see lot of mixed feelings in the comments. Personally, i clicked with the song immediately and this is what i expected from Erika. No matter whats gonna happen in UMK we have a bangger and this is gonna be in our play lists for a long time.
A lot of shouting for nothing.
Why are you talking about Puppy?
We are bored of same things every year
You mistake this from the puppy song that’s entirely all yelling. Not this one.
I really love this one, it’s so bold and infectious and I love the cheesiness of the abrupt ending(poor Erika doesn’t get to…’komme’ because her partner finished a little early XD).
Yes it risks being too racy, but being in Finnish the lyrics will go over the heads of most viewers since the core audience generally just tune into the final. I see Erika doing ok if she doesn’t make the choreo too sleazy(we all saw what happened to Olly Alexander). Besides, if Malta sends Kant we can use that as a distraction XD
Correction: cheesiness should be cheekiness lol
Well, we now know who’s competing for Norway national final and Finland’s lineup is complete, Iceland will be next with their entrance tomorrow. Will they be the best or the worst out of the three Nordic so far? Tune in and Find out tomorrow!
Entrants. Stupid auto dictate.
This sounds like Total Drama Island commentary.
Was it worth the wait….NO. You might as well just enter the push up bra. Lets be honest thats what will get all the attention.
I’ll take this over puppy, but I do worry that the over sexuality could work AGAINST them. There’s always a little bit of sexy fan service at Eurovision but this might be too much, and it could backfire with more conservative televoters. Remember how Olly Alexander got zero points from the Televote last year?
Agree. But is this a good song regardless of the video? I don’t think it is.
This is EVERYTHING! Erika Vikman definitely didn’t disappoint. This will surely be a memorable moment on the UMK stage, and hopefully the Eurovision stage. I don’t know what the Finnish public thinks of her, but I think it’s between her and Puppy. Can’t wait to see the live performance and hear the public scream “ICH KOMME! ICH KOMME!”
Also, what if Malta sends Kant, Finland sends Ich Komme, and they’re drawn in the same semi-final.. I think Europe would blow up!
Kant will get the same result as Loop no matter what semifinal.
I don’t know, I can see this get heavily censored if it gets to Eurovision because it’s still a family show. Look what happened to Olly alexander.
Exactly
and then look what NOT happened to Spain. kept their staging identical.
On first listen, I couldn’t understand what I was listening to. The first 20 or so seconds, I was lost. I felt no emotional connection and I started to wonder why UMK had left this reveal till last. Then the chorus kicked in, and the exhilerating retro synths started looping and lilting over the regimented, military chant of “Ich Komme”, and I was immediately transported to a bizarre wonderland where I was weirdly enjoying myself but freaked out at the same time lol. By the end of the first listen, I was left rather mystified as to whether I liked… Read more »
That show once recorded a whol Eurovision album, right?
whole
You know what? I’ve no idea! I was a young teen when it aired, and my dad never let me watch it, although I stayed over at a friend’s a few times and he had a TV in his bedroom so we used to watch it and giggle all the way through it!
Yes, google tells me there was indeed a Eurovision-themed Eurotrash television special and album back in 1998. Famous singers covering Eurovision classics… Sinead O Connor, Bananarama, and more. I just found it on YouTube… Katie Boyle hosted it with Antoine DeGaune!
https://youtu.be/KL61Y3vxY4s
So well said, in a wonderland both excited and pleased but also freaked out. It’s a bizarre feeling, I can’t think of what was going on in the song makers’ minds when they wrote this song.
It’s so over the top, but also infectious and grandiose, anthemic.
If people said the other UMK songs were made for radio, this one is definetly made for Eurovision. I feel like this song shines live. Personally I like Aina, Nightmares and Puppy, but this might rise to the top if the live performance elevates the song like it did with Win95man last year.
Tää olis täydellinen, jos tän esittäis Chisu itse
Now that we have the full UMK line up my ranking: 1 – Nea River “Nightmares”. It’s a solid dance track and if she delivers live it could be really fantastic 2 – Erika Vikman “Ich Komme”. Sometimes you do just need something exciting and a little sleazy. And we know she will deliver live as a UMK veteran. Love that it isn’t in English 3 – One Morning Left “Puppy”. It’s chaotic and weird, and probably not Finland’s best choice for Eurovision to be entirely honest. But it is fun and has some potential for some really eyecatching staging.… Read more »
I have the same top 2 in the same order!
What is this? Is it pop? Is it disco? is it schlager? It is cool, but is it contemporary? It doesn’t feel dated either…very confused. Reminds me of a Lady Gaga song from whenever…so I guess I will call it art-pop!
Do I like it? Well, it wasn’t what I expected..
So I am not really sure yet. “Puppy” made me immediately excited, as puppies usually do – this one needs to grow on me for sure. LoL.
Ich Komme might not sound as spectacular song in studio version, but it’s gonna look so good and funny on stage in Tampere arena!
Very celebratory and heady, with instantaneous gratification. Finland does things very well.
Its Puppy, Nightmares and Ich Komme for me.
So ESC fans want Malta to serve Kant and now want Finland to bring the stuff that goes into it. I’d better open up a clinic in Basel, cos y’all need a cold shower and some therapy. Eurovision’s becoming a bit of an orgy on speed lately. I need another country to come in and open the windows.
In serving Charisma Uniqueness Nerve Talent there’s nothing sexually explicit… btw it’s Kant which means singing in Maltese.
Oh I forgot but it will be the “69”th Eurovision Song Contest so Erika’s song would fit perfectly 😉
I’ll stand by with the towels and borrow some baby oil from Diddy
This song is amazing. I’m going to mast**bate to it everyday!!!!
Kudos to you, sir.
Lol ok! Have fun!
The ending cuts out very suddenly…. is that on purpose? A volcano erupting, or firework explosions, or something else, would have been more… suggestive.
I think this idea is that Erika doesn’t get her…climax because her partner finished early XD
I’m hoping the staging will provide the climax . Maybe a vat of honey will drop from the ceiling and cover her like the movie Carrie
It’s the climax..
Really different from what i expected but in a good way. This is ART. More experimental. And THE WINNER!! People who are disappointed don’t get why they feel like it. It’s not different from what expected in a way that it would be bad, NO! It’s just way more artsy and experimental than Cicciolina for example. This is EVERYTHING
