The search has begun for Natalia Barbu’s successor and Moldova’s Eurovision 2025 representative. Saturday’s live auditions of Etapa Naţională 2025 was  the first step in this journey.

On January 14, TRM, Moldova’s national broadcaster, announced the longlist of of 30 entries that would be participating in the live auditions of Etapa Naţională 2025. However, Eblansh Band withdrew due to one of its members currently being hospitalised. Three other acts also failed to show at the auditions, leaving just 26 entries to take the stage.

There are no artists in the selection who have formerly represented Moldova at Eurovision, which means the country will be sending a new artist to the contest for the first time in four years.

The 12 highest-scoring acts made it through the live auditions and will compete again in the final of Etapa Naţională 2025 next month.

Etapa Naţională 2025: Live auditions

Results

In the live auditions at TRM’s studios tonight, acts were scored 100% by a jury. Judges scored each song on a scale of zero to 12 based on its melodic line, originality, and live interpretation.

The qualifying acts are:

  • Royals ST – “Zboară-n sus”
  • Nadya Crajevschi – “Nota shodow”
  • Sasha Bognibov – “All-night party”
  • Chris Cross – “Eu vin”
  • Vadim Eleni – “Mamă, să fii!”
  • Rina – “Dorințele”
  • Bacho & CARNIVAL BRAIN – “Semafoare”
  • PRIZA feat Mc MIKE – “Kookoo”
  • LODOS – “Sentimental”
  • Katy Rain – “Timpul”
  • Catalina Solomac – “Demons”
  • Zelorielle – “Miracle”

The grand final will take place on 22 February, and a winner will be selected to be Moldova’s representative for Eurovision 2025.

So when you say… “There are no artists in the selection who have formerly represented Moldova at Eurovision, which means the country will be sending a new artist to the contest for the first time in four years.”

Are you forgetting that one of the members of CARNIVAL BRAIN is Anton Ragoza, who was part of SUNSTROKE PROJECT and has represented Moldova TWICE at Eurovsion

Mostly no returning artists.

but not “no artists” as the article claims.
I’d say a two-time artist – with two qualifying songs, and one a top3, Moldova’s highest ever result is something to be celebrated!

Bacho & CARNIVAL BRAIN – “Semafoare” stands out, even with the poor quality studio sound in the studios seen in the audition show, he can sing very well. This will do very well in May if chosen.

I love “KooKoo”!
I wish that when he sings “may the magic never stop” she didn’t stop from her dancing. That’s the time to do something to convey “magic” like by throwing confetti or doing a dance move or b lowing a kiss or something like that. No stopping, please.

Nice music, Unfortunately, singing skills are on a par with Belgium’s effort this year. Very poor.

Semafoarele is the best, actually… The rest are quite weak and forgettable. But still, all these 12 songs are much better than the ones UK or Germany usually send for Eurovision…

There’s only one song that could reach Top 3 in Basel: PRIZA feat. McMIKE.
I can see it become a huge spotify hit. The “Didididam” part is very cathy.

May this be the last time we see this weasel. I hope that with him in the Moldovan final, he can bugger off forever.

Semafoare is the only option I think!
What a shame that someone who doesn’t even capable to sing is in the top 12 of a NF.

Royals ST must win this. Vallerias song was the best overall (on spotify), but of course disqualified…. wasn’t there. Moldova disappoints every year.

I really liked Katy Rain’s previous entry Lele even though it didn’t go anywhere in Romania or Moldova, so I am glad to see she made it to the final this time.

Apparently Dr Tudor Bumbac, MD is 83-year-young-and-wise. So sweet. He’s made a song for peace. What a brilliant sentiment!! <3
