The Co-Executive Producers of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, Moritz Stadler and Reto Peritz, commented on the selection of the hosting team:

“For the world’s biggest show, it was important for us to recruit hosts who bring more than just presenting skills – Hazel, Sandra, and Michelle bring unique versatility with additional talents such as comedy, dance and singing. We are incredibly proud to have signed such impressive and diverse women as hosts. Together with Mélanie and Sven, our two hosts for the Arena plus public viewing, they form a true dream team that will delight audiences around the world! Together, the team reflects the cultural and linguistic diversity of our country and embodies Switzerland’s openness, its ability to bridge cultures, and its feeling of being home to everyone – true to our Swiss motto ‘Welcome Home’.”

That’s an amazing trio! All of them are talented and have different personalities and experiences.

Michelle is the most experienced TV show and she has also experience with San Remo and she is highly popular in Germany, Switzerland and Italy. I am surprised they did not pick her for ESC2022…

Sandra brings the experience of the ESC artist.

Hazel brings humour, so I expect her to be more like Anke in 2011 which is amazing.

Great choices there.

This is fourth all-female lineup in 10 years, and yet some people still complain about the all-male lineup in Kyiv in 2017…

No one complained about being only men. The problem was the slogan being ‘celebrate diversity’ with 3 straight men lol.

The quote from the co-producers above: “We are incredibly proud to have signed such impressive and diverse women as hosts.”

It’s three white women. Very diverse.

Your identity isn’t solely defined by your colour, or by your gender. Something many Gen Z-ers seem to struggle to understand. Three white women can be very diverse.

For representational reasons, it is!

There is no such thing as “people whose favourite colour is blue” demographic, or a “what is your favourite sitcom” question on census forms.

I just want the three most suited, most talented people for the job. I know that due to systemic issues this doesn’t always happen, but don’t have a gay man and a person of colour there just for inclusivity reasons.

I was shocked to learn Helga Vlahovi? was only 45 when she hosted in 1990. I would have said she was mid-50s. Late 80s/early 90s fashion and hair really aged people.

Indeed! She definitely seemed older.

Katie Boyle was 47 on her last appearance as host, I would have thought she was older too. Petra was 53 last year.

Probably one of the oldest female hosts, but not all time. That record belongs to the late Léon Zitrone, who co-presented the 1978 contest in Paris at the age of 63

I’m so happy Michelle Hunziker will host. I’ve loved her since I saw her host Sanremo, and she was my wish for Torino 2022. Better late than never!
