This girl is on “Fire” — and so is her Eurosong 2025 entry. Reylta — Galway’s Alt Folk Queen — will compete in Ireland’s Eurosong 2025. Her online bios say she makes music for “mystics, mortals and mythical beings.” So we expect magic.

Irish music fans can tune into The Ray D’Arcy Show from 15:00 today as Reylta joins Ray in studio to chat about her entry, which he’ll play on-air for the first time.

Reylta and the five other Eurosong finalists will compete on February 7th on The Late Late Eurosong Special to determine who will go on to represent Ireland at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest.

About Reylta

Irish broadcaster RTÉ have teased a beautiful song and performer. They said:

“Reylta is a captivating singer-songwriter hailing from rural Ireland, whose music blends bittersweet melodies with a layered, alternative edge. Rooted deeply in Irish tradition and heritage—from its poetic legacy to its evocative landscapes and rich storytelling—her work paints a hauntingly unique perspective. Reylta’s poetic lyrics, lush string arrangements, and evocative harmonies create a soundscape that is both intimate and transcendent.”

“Performing with her band since 2017, Reylta released her debut single, Fools Games, in 2019. Her much-anticipated debut album, Everything Unsaved Will Be Lost, launched last October to critical acclaim, with the Irish Independent naming her ‘Galway’s Alt Folk Queen.'”

I love the fact that it sounds so Irish, a far cry from previous efforts in the Irish pre-selection. The chorus really needs a bit more though, it has to switch up at some point. Keep the listener interested.

Once upon a time Eurovision was all about the song and singer, then over time staging became as important. In my view added to that mix is now the performer’s persona. With pre parties and social media content a performer can endear themselves to potential voters ahead of the event. I believe Bambi’s infectious outlook won over a lot of fans well before Sweden. I am obviously aware that the opposite may also have been the case with Bambie. I have listened to two Reylta interviews and there are a few red flags for me as to why she may… Read more »

That type of behaviour (yours) is so toxic. Let the artists be.

I have made it clear that this is my personal feeling and view. The artist can be who they want to be. If you are in the public eye, things you say will be challenged. I also made it clear that my view may be incorrect and I m open to it being changed.

I’m sorry but wasn’t that petition connected to Israel’s participation? Which would mean she was against Ireland taking part, not specifically against Bambie Thug?

I referenced Bambie but I meant Ireland. That was my point in terms of being confused – why sign a petition last year against Ireland’s participation but be happy to enter this year when circumstances have not changed? I would be interested to hear Reylta’s reasons for being against Ireland’s participation last year but not this year. She might have a logical explanation.

And otherwise she should be hanged, drawn, and quartered? Have you never changed your mind on anything? This looking for moral purity is so stupid. It’s a pop singer, for crying out loud. Not the pope.

Europe love Ireland when they co traditional. Its been a while and if this is chosen i suspect we wont see this in it’s full glory until the Eurovision stage itself. Scandanavia and the Balkans will lap this up.

I just listened to the radio clip – the proper spelling was already taken by another Irish act!

I’m happy to see that in a lot of national selections there is the opportunity to choose a solid song mixing ethnic and modern sounds. I think we could have a very interesting Eurovision this year.

I love this! It feels so authentically Irish without falling into stereotypes. It’s kinda giving me “The Voice” vibes.

I really want to like this song, but I just can’t. For me, there is just something missing, but I can’t put my finger on what that thing is.

Huge credit to Ireland, this is great musical diversity and still resonates. High levels of authenticity, very pleasing to see and good for the contest.

Bobbi and Reylta are both so different and both so good. I would be happy with either song representing Ireland. Both songs are at the very least qualifiers.

Ireland have come a long way since Sarah McTernan in a diner and Brendan Murray in a hot air balloon.

Excited for the resurgence of Ireland at Eurovision!

Ireland is coming to regain its title as the country with the most victories at Eurovision ever. It doesn’t want to be shackled with a tie with Sweden.

Wow “Fire” is another great entry! Reylta sounds like an Irish Aurora! Norwegian fans have always dreamt of Aurora representing Norway in Eurovision, and now Ireland beat us in selecting something like her…well at least for the national selection. Very powerful etheral mystical song, but the presentation has to be on point and vocals perfectly executed!

I’m shocked, this is really excellent. Intense, epic, theatrical, authentic. Love the singer’s folk voice and the dark production.
I don’t know if I prefer this or Bobbi’s song.

Only 2 songs in and Ireland’s selection is better than this year’s UMK or MGP! Who would’ve thought. What a time to be alive

Yes, the Irish Eurosong is shaping up to be a great year so far. And I am glad we are getting surprises as well, as Reylta was not one of the 5 rumoured names beforehand.

I’m very pleasantly surprised, and hoping the rest of the lineup is strong. But on the other hand, it would be a shame to lose a great song, and kinda wish we had these choices in previous years! If that makes sense

2/5 so far are really strong (and 3/5 if I include Lyra). Really nice to see such a strong and solid selection being built up.

Lovely to see us trying again

Lovely to see us trying. I think Sweden coming for us and the revenue to be made by hosting is making us try a bit more.

Beautiful. Has an almost ‘native American/first nations’ aspect in it’s ending. Very impressive, and leans well into a ‘burning LED stage’ type visual.

PS: scroll down her website and listen to her other music. I know a lot of you crave more ethereal/traditional type music. She’s very much sailing that vibe, in a very natural way.

Oh I like this one, it starts very ethereal and it evolves very nicely, it has a hook. Live on stage this song will be something. Again an interesting pick for Ireland Eurosong, Ireland has ambitions this year.

Intrigued to hear the song that has been chosen. In terms of Eurovision her music would be in the Common Linnets lane- suited to the big stage for effect. Interesting!
