A bridge between “the personal and the universal.” That’s the PR that France’s Eurovision 2025 team has cast in announcing its singer for Basel — Louane.

As we’ve seen across so many Eurovision countries, Louane came to public attention on The Voice when she was just 16 years old. But unlike so many others she’s just kept on climbing — and without succumbing to the pressure to make disposable pop or songs written by others that don’t reflect her soul. According to the official release, she has “created a deeply human body of work” that “resonate with rare authenticity, blending elegance and intensity.”

She’s sold more than three million albums. That she’s managed to be a commercial hit proves the earlier point — she bridges the music industry with the people — her story speaks to the masses.

Louane: France confirms Eurovision 2025 singer with “rare authenticity”

The EBU-run Eurovision web site shares more.

“From Chambre 12 (double diamond-certified), propelled by the phenomenal success of Avenir, to Sentiments, born from an intimate collaboration with her fans, each album reflects a key chapter in her life. Her latest opus, solo, elevates her journey further, exploring contrasts between shadow and light, fragility and strength.”

“At just 28, Louane represents a new generation of artists capable of reinventing themselves while staying true to their roots. With sold-out tours across Europe’s largest venues and prestigious accolades (NRJ Music Awards, Victoires de la Musique), this artist lights up the stage with her voice, her sincerity, and her ability to capture the essence of human emotions. Louane is the melody of the heart and the soul of an era!”

Louane’s song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be released at a later date.

The power of Louane’s voice is in the emotion and the deep personal connection she makes with the listener. There could be a very special moment coming for France if the song touches everyone’s hearts.

I think in France they love that kind of music and voices with a lot of breath like Carla Bruni or Vannessa Paradis… I wonder what her song will be like.

Good, fresh voice a bit breathy. I listened to a couple of her songs, not spectacular but good and decent. It depends on the song whether I would vote for her or not, bonne chance.

Louane is a good choice.
– She is used to competition having started with The Voice.
– She will be comfortable with English for interviews.
– She is already known in other countries and possibly has fans already ready to vote for her.

The determining element remains: the song, which for the moment is still a mystery. Above all, we must not make the mistake we sometimes made of sending someone very well known with a bad song.

Finally!! Louane at Eurovision is something I’ve always wanted. From her discography, I especially like Si t’étais là and Je Vole. I loved her acting in Le Familie Bélier. It was so beautiful. With the right song, Louane is definitely a contender for the win.

France is aiming for the win, and they can really get it in the next year’s. For the past two contests, they have chosen their biggest male and female popstar. And we are talking about a country with a biiig music audience and artists that appeal to all the people around Europe that speak French. Good luck France!!

Are you even french to say this ? La Zarra had a summer hit in 2021 with “Tu ten ‘iras” which was certified double platinum in december 2022 (30 millions of streams), before representing France. Slimane is huge ever since he won The Voice. Slimane and Louane have had many huge hits during the last decade that have made them popular from both young people and older people, everyone knows them (at the very least by their name). I can’t think of more popular names in France in this generation of artists, except maybe Kendji (Vianney does french variety music… Read more »

I mean, France’s chart toppers nowadays are usually Gims, Niska, Ninho, Naps and especially Zola and Koba LaD, but they’re all rappers tho

You need to be French to understand how big this announcement is.
Louane is an amazing singer.
Her voice is unique and carries so much emotion. She just needs a piano (which she can play) to shake you completely but she can also deliver catchy pop songs with hooks you can’t forget.
I can’t wait to hear the emotions she’ll want to share. In her announcement video she was speaking as if talking to her late Mom “Mom, I will be representing France”.
Better be prepared for goosebumps I think 🙂
