The calendar page will very soon turn to February, which means it’s Melfest time once again!

Sweden’s national final Melodifestivalen 2025 heat 1 will kick off on Saturday from Coop Norrbotten Arena in the Arctic town of Luleå. The six week Melfest tour of six Swedish cities will eventually decide, who will represent Sweden at Eurovision in Basel in May.

You can listen to all the songs in full length now, which means it’s time for one thing: To name your favourite.

Click on the artist’s song title below to listen to their song. Then vote in our poll. You can vote for as many artists as you’d like, but you can only vote one time. Be sure to tick the box next to each act you want to support.

Watch 30 second snippets of the performances on SVT Play.

Format of Melodifestivalen 2025

30 acts participate in Melfest 2025 split into 5 heats of six acts each. The number 1 and 2 placed acts from each heat qualify directly to the grand final in Stockholm, and the three lowest placed acts are finished in the competition. This make up for the first 10 acts qualifying for the grand final

The number 3 placed entries of each heat will have their fate decided in a Final Qualification held in connection with heat 5. The five songs will compete for 2 tickets to the grand final decided by the percentage of votes each entry got in their heat plus the amount of votes they get in the Final Qualification.

12 songs compete in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen held in Strawberry Arena in Stockholm on 8 March.

Melodifestivalen is hosted by Kristina ”Keyyo” Petrushina and Edvin Törnblom.

Who is your favourite in this heat? Are any of these acts the one you want to see go all the way to Eurovision? Let us know in the comments below.

I changed my mind, it’s no more songs 3 and 4 for me, but song 1 and 4.
Good luck for tonight!

Yeah, all 6 songs are kinda boring. I’m more interested in Heat 3 and 4 tbh

No, but seriously. Aren’t Swedes tired of the same formulaic, dull, dated and copy-pasted entries every year?

Really enjoying Hush Hush, though it gives me Eya Eya vibes from MGP last year 🙂

Songs out now. Honestly snippets don’t do justice. Some songs are growing on me. Catchy. Fun.

Even though John Lundvik has the best song of this heat without a doubt there is something about that man I dislike ALOT…it is something about his demeanor that gives me icks…Like he is putting on a fake front or hiding how he really is, because between the lines he seem to be so full of himself in interviews and i just can’t stand him…sorry…but i can’t…is it only me or do others get that vibe?

I don’t get that vibe AT ALL. He is a decent family man with his feet firmly on the ground. Anything else is entirely in your imagination.

John Lundvik seems to be a fine person. As a songwriter, he’s very fond of clichés and cheap sentiment though.

Meira is really growing on me, not that i think it is a good song in that sense but it stands out in this heat…

I’m holding off until Saturday, if I can withstand temptation. 60 second snippets suck.

I can wait another 24 hours to get the full experience, staging and all. I’m tempted, though…

If it were up to me based on snippets, Meira Omar and Albin Johnsén feat. Pa would go to the final and John Ludvig or Linnea Henriksson would go to the second chance round (depending on staging and how the whole songs feel).
But Swedes are chronically boring, so I predict John Ludvig and Adrian Macéus to the final with Meira Omar being sent to second chance despite having far and away the best song by these snippets.

Adrian to the final, no chance. I can tell you that much. Swedish people like to vote for names and he’s by far the most unknown artist in this heat. They also tend to dislike calm simple songs in Swedish. /swede

Albin & Pa and Maja Ivarsson are my top 2 from this heat, with Linnea being a close 3rd. As always, John Lundvik’s voice sounds strong and I’m sure he’ll sound great live, but for some reason, I’m not totally sold on Voice of the Silent, though I can appreciate that it’s very different to his other 3 melfest entries and maybe my opinion will change after I’ve heard the full song. Adrian’s song is nice, but I fear it may get lost among everything else and unfortunately, I’m not feeling Meira’s song at all.

John Lundvik’s song is a joke. Why do all these songs are so generic and resemble each other year by year in MF? We’re sick of it… Sweden not taking a risk and always favored by Martin Osterhall, with good spots in the ranking order… When we’ll see a rock song or a group or a duo from Sweden? Always the same thing, a male or a female singer with a generic, Pop song. And always getting away with it. Boring!!!!!!!!!!

Martin Österdahl doesn’t have anything to do with the “ranking order”.
Or the running order. It’s the broadcaster that decides the running order, so that’s the Swiss broadcaster, SRG SSR that decides that this year.

Of course not, he just oversees the whole contest’s production

Which means nothing. The producers decide the show and order. All he can do is approve or disapprove the running order. But no one has ever disapprove of it.

Sweden doing what Sweden does, polishing everything to within an inch of its life. It’s well done, but I’m always concerned about it being too well done.

John is clearly wanting to make me cry. I really hope I can feel authenticity in the full track and not the heavy sound of the whirring mechanical song-writing and production wheels in motion

I liked Maja Ivarsson the most.

Yes I kinda agree. But John is so obviously going to the final, knowing his potential. It’s a good song, but of course it’s no where near anything original. I think I like it better than Too late for love. And better than Anders Bagge. Nice message, could be a themesong for the olympics or something. Feels very “global”. But I want something more different to compete for us. Maja also a favourite in this SF. And yes, a good start to Melodifestivalen.
