Riga calling! Tonight, Latvia kicked off another year of Supernova with the show’s semi-final. Ten years after the first edition of the country’s selection show, LTV hoped to select an act that will follow in Dons’ footsteps as a Eurovision qualifier. But before that, nineteen acts had to become ten.

The Ludvig led our readers’ poll and can be called one of the favourites ahead of the Supernova 2025 semi-final.

Supernova 2025 was broadcast at 21:10 EET (that’s 20:10 CET) on LTV. The show lasted until 23:45 EET (or 22:45 CET). You could watch the show live on LTV1 via their website

Supernova 2025 semi-final: guide

Nineteen acts competed in the semi-final of Supernova 2025. That’s one down from the original twenty acts announced. Grēta Grantiņa withdrew earlier this week due to health problems.

Despite that, the Latvian audience saw a varied show, with Marta opening the semi with “Lovable”, while Supernova veteran Markus Riva will close with “Bigger Than This”.

A combination of a jury panel vote and televoting decided the ten acts that will proceed to the final on 8 February. Favourites as Citi Zeni, The Ludvig and Tautumeitas were among the qualifiers.

Supernova 2025 semi-final results

I really can’t choose between Tautumeitas and Tepat; both have really good stagings and their songs are absolute bangers. Citi Zeni are a close second (it took some time to grow on me) I wish that KoBra had qualified though, they would’ve deserved it. I think we can all agree that The Ludvig needs some tweaks to the staging and then they’re ready to go. I actually didn’t like the song at first and I was so surprised at why everyone loved it lol. I get it now ?

A lot of people hating on the Ludvig and crticising his ‘alpha’ energy but that might be enough for the audience to get on board with him. I compare him with BL since they are both at stages where their songs could do amazingly or terribly and I have to say, although BL had the stage, Ludvig is ahead on voice already. He only needs a bit of work. Now what he really needs to do is add more smoke, pyros and dancers into the staging and sing the choruses properly. The last chorus where he tries to sustain a… Read more »

So no matter what everyone says !
It’s clear two race now

Shocking bad live perforfoance from citi z?ni and from Ludvig
You can agree or disagree with me but it’s true now!

The Ludvig clearly has the best song. But the staging he gave was very awkward and sometimes his singing could be improved. More smoke and pyros are needed. And he needs to rethink the role of the dancers and what they will do.

Seriously aweful results… Most of my pre-live-semi-favourites didnt make it… I really cannot understand why Justs didnt make it? His song is excellent, and he sang pretty OK as well… was it the suit that failed him? Ruta Duduma gave an excellent vocal performance as well.. cannot understand why she didnt qualify either. The Ludvig performance really disappointed me as well. Had such high hopes for it – but he was trying to engage audience and make it a concert performance, which is the big NO NO in Eurovision world. It is a TV-show – do that at ESC and… Read more »

What an impressive semi-final. Well done Latvia!

The Ludvig is my favourite to win. For the final they could remove the girls touching the lead singer – it is not needed in this song and would improve the quality of the song.

So many great performances for the final.

Unfortunately I think The Ludvig and Citi Zeni’s stage performance didn’t elevate their song whereas Tautumeitas were incredible and the stage performance is Eurovision ready.

That was an excellent show and very good choices for Latvia. I like at least 5-6 of their finalists and for me Latvia is already a safe bet for qualification. Supernova also in running for the best national final of the season, I really didn’t see that coming.

Ok big massively shift after live show – contenders to win now is Emilia with heartbeat and Tautu meitas with bur man laimi! – leaving Citi zeni and Ludvig outsiders now! As a telovoting was showed!

Oh trust me, they intentionally choose an early voting screen to bait out more people to vote for their favorites. This discussion about some wildcard being in the top is always there. The lead for Emilija you saw was from her fans wanting her to be in the final, people here do not actually want the song to flop.

There is however the issue that so many different songs are competing for the win, that someone out of left field could somehow go through in the end

The Latvian selection is so good this year. Although it’s *just* a semifinal most songs could be in the final of other selections. I can see why “L?go” is considered an early favourite, it was very well performed and The Ludvig works the stage very well. I enjoyed “Ramtai” too, although the staging was a bit bizarre for me. Well done Latvia, I’ll keep an eye on the Supernova final.

It would be *so nice* if subtitles were available in English for the pre-recorded segments when artists present their songs. They surely have very interesting things to say. I’d love to know what they are talking about.

It’s actually my number one favorite for Supernova 2025, which is a huge turn around because I really hated Eat Your Salad in 2022 (in fact, it was my last place for Eurovision 2022). If they had sent something like Ramtai three years ago, I would have placed Latvia a lot higher. I don’t think they’ll return this time, but I am glad to know that they are capable of composing awesome songs.
