Tonight it’s time for heat 1 of Melodifestivalen 2025 from Luleå, so we asked you which acts you want to qualify directly to the Grand Final in Stockholm.

The results are now in with two clear favourites: John Lundvik and Meira Omar raked up over 60% of all votes in the poll, with Albin Johnsén feat. Pa coming in third, which would send them to Final Qualification if those were to be the results tonight.

Poll results of Melfest heat 1

  1. John Lundvik – “Voice Of The Silent” – 33.81% (260 votes)
  2. Meira Omar – “Hush Hush” – 28.09% (216 votes)
  3. Albin Johnsén feat. Pa – “Upp i luften” – 12.09% (93 votes)
  4. Linnea Henriksson – “Den känslan” – 10.14% (78 votes)
  5. Maja Ivarsson – “Kamikaze Life” – 9.62% (74 votes)
  6. Adrian Macéus – “Vår första gång” – 6.24% (48 votes)

Total votes 769

We will be back with our live discussion article at 19.15 CET tonight.

Do you think the poll results will be the same in tonight’s heat? And who is your favourite? Let us know in the comments below.

Anyone noticing the eerie choir similarities at the end of the Voice of the Silent to those of Bigger Than the Universe (2022)? Basically the same team behind both songs.

So far based on snippets only, Meira Omar is the only that stands out to me as a qualifier, the second qualifer is up in the air for me. Maybe once I hear all six songs here, I’ll let you who I think should go the final.

You can hear Lundvik’s song is from Thomas Gson’s pen! Decent, but a bit Tattooish.

Interesting to see if the pre release of the songs will influence the outcome in any way. Cause some songs are more listened to than others..

We’ll see how it will turn out. I was a bit surprised that the melfest songs will be released in full week by week instead of all at once after the last heat as usual, because I would have presumed that they would want to avoid bias as much as possible in the voting. It really is different than usual, but I wonder if this is a one off thing, or this is gonna be something permanent on forward here year after year.

I think it will stay permanent. SVT was the only broadcaster to not allow the songs to be played before contest. It’s time to get with the times!
Plus I think the demand for it was to high. The record companies wanted it, the public wanted it, the artists wanted it, radio stations wanted i. Everybody wanted it, SVT could not really in 2025 say no.

I think it can cause an unfair outcome in the final. It could go two ways. Perhaps people have gotten tired of the songs from the first weeks and find the just released songs fresh. Or it could go the opposite way. The earlier released songs have found it’s listeners while the songs from the last SF haven’t.

I have a theory that they know the earliest heats contain the weakest songs of the selection and that the good and best stuff is the last heats, so it doesn’t matter if they are released first.

I guess that makes sense to finally start releasing the songs in full earlier.
