The wait is over — Benidorm Fest 2025 reached its grand finale tonight. After a week of unforgettable performances and unexpected twists, “Esa diva” singer Melody claimed her throne — quite literally with the staging — and won the festival. Next stop? Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

Melody, who sealed the deal with a fierce helicopter twirl of her hair, placed third with the jury behind Jk Bello and Daniella Blasco. But she won the public vote to push er over the line.

The show took place at the Palau Municipal d’Esports l’Illa de Benidorm, where three absolute queens guided us through the night: Eurovision 2014 star Ruth Lorenzo, alongside Paula Vázquez and Inés Hernand.

Jury results

Format

Big changes are shaking up Benidorm Fest 2025! While the voting system still relies on three groups to determine the results, there’s a key update: the demoscopic vote (previously 25% of the results) has been replaced by a free app vote. Now, the final breakdown looks like this: 50% jury, 25% free app vote, and 25% televote.

For the first time ever, fans can cast their votes for free through the RTVE Play app! To participate, simply download the app on Android or iOS, sign up for an account, and you’re good to go. Need help? RTVE has a step-by-step guide available. But keep in mind — you can only vote once for free, so choose wisely!

This year, voting results remained secret during semi-final 1 and 2. Instead of revealing the exact scores, the hosts announced which acts have advanced to the final so to ensure early results don’t sway today’s votes. During tonight’s final, full scores will be available.

Running order

Last Friday, RTVE unveiled the official running order for tonight’s grand final during a special press event — featuring none other than last year’s winners, Nebulossa. The draw was conducted by Nebulossa themselves, making for a truly epic moment.

  1. Daniela Blasco – “Uh Nana”
  2. Kuve – “LOCA XTI”
  3. Mawot – “Raggio di Sole”
  4. Lachispa – “Hartita de Llorar”
  5. Mel Ömana – “I’m a Queen”
  6. J Kbello – “V.I.P.”
  7. Lucas Bun – “Te escribo en el cielo”
  8. Melody – “Esa Diva”

With only one ballad in the mix, the Benidorm Fest 2025 final is set to kick off on a high-energy note. Daniela Blasco will open the show with her infectious dance anthem “Uh Nana”, a track that’s sure to get stuck in everyone’s head. Daniela Blasco’s “Uh Nana” currently sits at the top spot as the most viral song on Spotify Spain.

Closing the night in the highly anticipated final slot is none other than Melody, a seasoned performer and the bookmakers’ favorite to win, with her powerful entry “Esa Diva”.

Meanwhile, our reader’s fan-favorite Lachispa, will take the stage fourth, ready to deliver a standout performance. And keep an eye on J Kbello — with growing momentum, he’s emerging as Melody’s biggest rival for the trophy and will perform sixth in the lineup.

Jury

RTVE unveiled this year’s panel back in January. With members from Spain, Ukraine, and the Netherlands, there’s no shortage of diversity in the mix. Here’s the full line-up:

  • Roberto Santamaría (Spain) – Serving as this year’s jury spokesperson, he is the current director of Radio Nacional de España.
  • Javier Llano (Spain) – A recognised journalist with over 25 years of experience.
  • Jaime Acero (Spain) – A TV producer with a broad career spanning both Spain and international markets.
  • Claudia Orellana (Spain) – A music event coordinator with experience working alongside international artists.
  • Oksana Skybinska (Ukraine) – Head of Delegation for Ukraine at Eurovision.
  • Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen (the Netherlands) – Responsible in entertainment and music events at NPO (Nederlandse Publieke Omroep).
  • Mariangela Borneo (Italy) – Director of International Projects and Festivals at RAI since 2011.
  • Maja Tokic (Croatia) – Musical executive producer and of DORA (Croatia’s own Eurovision selection process).

In a strong year, this could land around #8–#15 because Melody knows how to sell a song. She’s a true performer: full of attitude, charisma, power, and strong vocals. But with 2025 shaping up to be a dull year so far, filled with slow and uninspired entries, this banger has a real chance to stand out. If things keep going this way, we could be looking at a Top 5. And if Melody performs in the second half… Chanel 2.0 incoming.

Wow!! This is the best Spanish entry for Eurovision ever!! It’s not only a great song, it’s the perfect hymn for equality!!

I can understand the envy she arouses among European haters because her performance was AMAZING, her vocals are out of this world, she’s gorgeous and dances even better than Chanel!!

Melody, honey, you are the queen!! Be PROUD, Spain!! 10/10.

Melody is an incredible performer and her vocals were really improved compared to the semi-final, she hit the high note – thank god cause what was that screaming on thursday? – but the “song” is incredibly dated, it could come straight out of 2006 and the staging is a HUGE mess. It’s like “let’s do everything with a wow-effect that could give us some points”… From the 360 flip to the hair helicopter swing to the swing coming down. It’s all WAY too much. Wishing Spain the best of luck, but right now I’m not seeing this scoring high.

Why is the Benidorm trophy so horrible?

Like a regular Eurovision trophy that’s been salvaged from a dumpyard. Recycling, I suppose.

So, this is the best Spain could send? I wonder. I did not watch Benidorm Fest but I can’t believe that such a big country with such a huge music industry and talent sends this. I get that the market for Spanish music is huge and artists don’t need Eurovision to advance their careers. Not sure what is going wrong with Benidorm, it’s the Spaniards’ choice and we should respect that, but this song is a big no. Even Zorra sounds better and catchier (though it was bottom low quality). Shall we have to wait for another Chanel in 2030?

The contest rules are getting less artist-friendly every year. Artists have little incentive to participate in the contest and it shows. There was not much to choose from this year, little variety, no rock bands, etc.

I am a little tired of so many Fortune tellers every year: Spain the last one..botton 5…wait to the festival and voting.Every songs elected until now are wonderful but Spain : rubbish. It is so boring.Melody has said that there Will be many changes in her song.if this songs would have been english or serdis or italian…ohhh a máster piece

It is really absurd what we are having today in Spain. Those who voted last year for Zorra which ended Up bottom 5 telling those who voted for Esa Diva this year that It Will end Up Bottom 5 because they don’t choose well. ??

It’s so funny to see the super dramatic comments, as if Spain abandoned a winner alert to choose a last place, when the reality is: all the entries had some critical problems. For example, the second place could perform without a microphone and you wouldn’t notice the difference, that’s the kind of disaster we’re talking about. Melody won a competition full of bad options, it’s not that deep.

I think if Spain wants any sort of result ever again at Eurovision they have to change up the selection process, because this is not it. The Spanish fans love the campy entries, Eurovision itself is at least 15 years ahead.

I’ve read this several times and I don’t know where people got this info: this song is not composed by “Melfest composers”, is written by a Spanish guy, Alberto Lorite. The producers are Swedish, but the song is Spanish and it sounds like a typical 2000 Spanish song for the summer.

You’re right, Melfest producers. It still sounds like a dated product, as you say a summer hit from twenty years ago. Just like in Melfest they keep on recycling Swedish pop schlagers.

Gracias.

Irritating vocals, no emotions, no charisma, too many lyrics vs music, trying to dance like Chanel but her body is not made for this, tacky, generic. Many people will joke about her because it’s so obvious she tries too much and too hard but she is not owning the performance at all

Spain need to tread a careful line between the “internationally recognisable” Spanish vibe that they achieved with Chanel, and cliché cartoon Spain. France and Italy also have the same baked in advantage, but it has to be matched with quality to secure a high score. This however is La Noche Es Para Mi, from 2009, with added flamenco guitar. It’s Contigo – revenge against Manel Navarro, from 2017. It’s a Spanish equivalent (as in Spanishness + 4/10 song quality) to La Zarra, at best. The song doesn’t even have a hook. My view is, left hand side of the scoreboard… Read more »

Nowadays, everything needs to be experimental, new, edgy… This woman is singing her heart out, and comments are: “well, it’s expected that she sings well” , like that’s something given on Eurovision.

Is “Esa Diva” the most modern song? No. But really why do we have to care about it. I mean she can perform it and her whole presence was not a bland and well organized choreography, she was really feeling it. At the end of the day, it’s the people’s choice. Many scream on how Luxembourg’s juries saved their final and point their finger to the spanish public for not choosing the entry they wanted, but in May we are going to have the same conversation again on how the public should have more power etc etc. Personally, It wasn’t… Read more »

Spain is about 15-20 years too late in thinking what Eurovision is versus what Eurovision has become. The only saving grace is that so far it’s the only “girlbop” chosen but if a country decides to throw onstage some hot 20-year old girl with a half-decent current track—the Spanish entry will look like moldy manchego covered in flies.
