The Eurovision 2025 season is beginning to heat up. Over the course of the next few months, we will all fall in and out of love with scores of new national final and Eurovision entries. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 5

Joost – “Why Not???”

This week starts strong with a song from Joost, the artist that the Netherlands selected to represent them last year, but unfortunately was disqualified before the grand final. And this is exactly what this song is all about. The song speaks about reaching for your dreams and creating your own music and then being disqualified, describing his experience from his perspective: “They say ‘Jo-Joost Klein you’re disqualified’ what?/ They saw me as the culprit/ Emotional damage/ No money, but I have to pay/ So I guess I do resemble my father after all…” Yet the song ends with a pinch of positivity: This is for U and I/ Don’t forget the T and the Y/ Cause I’m thankful, grateful, the opposite of hateful.”

In terms of music genre, the song has some parts inspired by the rock music of the 2000s — having the perfect sound to be the opening of a TV show of the time — and some parts in gabber (Dutch electronic music with a happy hardcore touch). Joost amazes us once again with his rap skills too.

Raiven – “Hedonista”

Raiven represented Slovenia last year. In her newest song, she celebrates sexiness, feminism, and pleasure. Of course, she affirms in the song that she can be perfectly happy even without love. The powerful Slovenian pop song comes together with a music video in which Raiven serves looks and confidence. This catchy tune will stay on repeat in your playlists for a long time.

ISAAK – “Happy Tears”

ISAAK represented Germany in 2024. His newest acoustic pop song speaks about pushing forward despite the struggles that life puts in your way. The song also highlights the idea that sometimes you don’t keep going just because you have no other choice, but because better days and happy tears are about to come. ISAAK performed this song on the streets of London before its release.

Käärijä & Hooja – “San Francisco Boy”

Indeed, “it’s crazy, it’s party,” that’s the only way we can describe the song of Käärijä, who made Finland beyond proud two years ago in Eurovision. His new track is a party anthem; it will invite you to dance with its retro electronic tune and will make you smile at Käärijä’s English parts. In case you had any doubts, he confesses in this song that he is a party animal. The song is a collaboration with the Swedish electronic music group Hooja. Get groovy!

Ilinca & Gadjo Dilo – “Ding Deng Dong”

Ilinca represented Romania back in 2017 together with Alex Florea. Her newest song is another single from her upcoming album, Balkan Mama. The track is a collaboration with Gadjo Dilo, Ilinca’s band. Sung in Romani, the song draws influences from Romani music and culture, showcasing the beauty of Gypsy heritage — from the complex instrumentals to the addictive, high-energy melodies — while adding a modern twist to the mix.

Let 3 – “Cikica”

Let 3 are the iconic Croatian band that competed at Eurovision in 2023. And for the band’s fans, we have some good news — an upcoming album is on the way! This time, it’s not just a regular album but one filled with love songs. The latest track carries a retro rock vibe, characteristic of the band, while the music video tells a fascinating story. Generated with AI, the video features a series of archived photographs of the band from the ’80s and ’90s, now brought to life.

With most of the upcoming album already recorded, the band plans to release two more singles — one this spring and one in summer — before the album drops in October. As for the story behind this song, Mrle reveals the identity of Cikica:

“I have to tell you that I have written a lot of love-themed songs, so Let 3 is now working on a love album. Cikica is my first love. She was a turtle that I loved very much. She was hard, but to me she was always soft, warm and a little wet.”

BLANKA – “key to my heart”

We keep the disco groovy vibe with Blanka’s new song. She represented Poland in 2023. In her new music video, which takes place in a dance studio, Blanka amazes us once again with her dance moves that are right on point. The song is extremely catchy and will make you dance instantly, while she tries to find out who has the key to her heart, longing for a night of dancing with her dear one. Last year, Blanka was a guest star in the music video of Un Ragazzo, Una Ragazza,” the Sanremo entry of the Italian band The Kolors; this time, The Kolors (who will return to Sanremo this year too) are the guest stars in Blanka’s video.

Kaleen – “Knocking On Heaven’s Door”

Kaleen represented Austria last year. Her newest song is the first release from her upcoming project, MINE. The retro electro-dance track will make you move, while in the official visualizer, she serves authentic Barbie vibes. The song captures the experience of falling in love, with lyrics like: “You got me knocking on heaven’s door/ And I’m dying to get some more.” About her upcoming personal project, Kaleen opened up and confessed:

“I’m Kaleen. I’ve been thinking a lot about what to tell you about myself. I was born with a dream and now I am 30 which scares me just a little. And at the same time I am working towards something I have always dreamed of. I am a singer and a dancer in love with performing and the magic of the creative world in entertainment. I worked myself up to singing on the world’s biggest stage and after that I thought it would get easier. I am finding myself with exact same amount of self doubt and fears as I had before. Deciding not to step down and give up tough, I want to take you along on my journey to confidence and choosing not to limit myself. I want to tell you that you are not alone. I am right at the beginning with you. Let’s make this journey memorable. I wanna make this story MINE.”

Cleo and Donatan represented Poland in 2014, and ever since, many songs have come from this beloved duo. This week, they joined hands with a variety of Polish artists — including Junior Eurovision 2019 winner Viki Gabor — for an authentic song with ethnic influences, called What Makes a Cottage Rich.” The music video is filled with colour and traditional costumes, so you can take a preview of Polish heritage. The house with chicken legs from the music video is also a reference to Slavic culture — in their folk stories, the house belongs to Baba Yaga, an old, bad witch living in the woods. Join the Polish fest!

Amaia – Si Abro Los Ojos No Es Real

Amaia competed for Spain in 2018, together with Alfred. Now she is back with a 12-song LP, all in Spanish. Amaia’s sweet voice embraces the indie tracks perfectly. With a variety of twee pop songs, this album will give you a dose of emotions and tranquillity. The English title of the album is If I Open My Eyes It’s Not Real. Besides the album, Amaia dropped a music video for “M.A.P.S.” The final result is an aesthetic and metaphorical tale about our real nature and making peace with our demons.

Sertab Erener & Ozbi – “Savaşçı”

Sertab waved the Turkish flag in 2003. Her newest collaboration with Ozbi has everything, from her powerful voice, to Ozbi’s rap skills, to a cinematographic music video. Called “Fighter,” the song speaks about the struggles and the darkness that life can sometimes bring and how, at certain points, it feels like a lonely road when everyone is against you. The lyrics say: “You never stopped/ You always chased your trouble/ Your heart blew crazy/ Is this loneliness your reward/ Time passes so quickly.” Yet all the troubles are meant to make you stronger in the end.

Athena Manoukian – “Psycho”

Athena is the Armenian star who was selected to represent her country in 2020 when the contest was cancelled. Her newest pop song is filled with confidence, and she is not settling for less. The lyrics speak about turning psycho from all the hot and cold mixed signals, yet if anyone wants to be with her, she is confidently demanding a lot: “You could have been a 10 but (I)/ Gotta have your full attention/ Don’t want it if it ain’t obsession/ Oh boy, you could be in my bed but (why)/ Would I give it if you’re not chasing/ Set down for the queen you’re facing.” About the message of the song, Athena said:

“‘PSYCHO’ is about a confident woman who refuses to settle for less than she deserves. She demands commitment, respect, and genuine effort from a potential partner. Instead of being swayed by superficial compliments or material promises, she seeks emotional depth and true appreciation. She rejects men who don’t put in the effort and emphasises her own worth, uniqueness, and independence.”

Remo Forrer – “Underwater”

Remo took part in Eurovision two years ago, in 2023, for Switzerland. If you need a confidence boost or something to keep you warm in these chilly autumn days, this acoustic track is the perfect shot of warmth that you need. Besides the lovely tune and Remo’s voice, the song has some meaningful lyrics about feeling “like you are living under water,” isolated and pretending that you need no one. Yet the lyrics speak about finding the power to get out and get some air.

VICTORIA – “Pity Party”

It’s her party, and she cries if she wants to! Victoria represented Bulgaria in 2021. She now delivers an exceptional and powerful ballad with some deep lyrics that might make you tear up. The lyrics say “So throw yourself a pity party/ (Here comes the jealousy, hate, and the dread)/ You’ll never give yourself a sorry,” and they speak about us criticising ourselves too much and the inner demons we tend to create in our minds. But more about the message of the song comes straight from Victoria:

“Want to share a bit more about my new song, PITY PARTY. The song is about your dark inner world – the inner critic that keeps telling you that you’re both too much and not enough at the same time. It’s also about how harshly we treat ourselves without even realizing it because we’re so caught up in negative thoughts, and over time, they start to feel normal. But in reality, that is NOT NORMAL.

“It’s essential to explore yourself – your roots, traumas, and bad habits, so you can understand them better, learn from your mistakes, and turn them into growth. It’s a tough journey filled with ups and downs, but it’s worth learning how to be aware of your feelings and not let them control you – because we should live this life with a full heart.”

Barei – Trece

One more album comes from Spain, this time from Barei, who represented her country in 2016. It seems that Thirteen (the name of her newest album) is a lucky number for Barei, as she releases her newest album that includes thirteen tracks. Some of the tracks were previously released as singles and were much anticipated by fans, but now they have found their home in this album that brings a vast range of emotions. While some songs are more melancholic, this album is not all about sadness and pain; it even brings a comforting touch.

We also have a music video for “It’s Not My Thing Anymore,” a track that speaks about embracing your true self without caring much about what the people around you want from you, without feeling the obligation to please them. The lyrics speak about how you lose yourself if you don’t let your authentic self shine: “Because/ It’s not my thing anymore/ A thousand excuses, a thousand reasons/ There are no more places to hide/ You have to live with yourself/ You can’t run away from yourself.” The story from the music video was based on Barei’s idea, and here’s more about it:

“(The story) follows the evolution of a girl who, in her eagerness to fit in, finds herself trapped in harmful patterns. As she grows up, she understands that her value does not lie in what others give her but in herself. When that change comes, the feeling of expansion and liberation is enormous. A visually powerful story that reflects the message of personal transformation…”

Noise Network feat. Brooke – “My Design”

Brooke represented Ireland in 2022. Her newest project features a collaboration with the London-based duo Noise Network. The result is a cool, retro pop song with electronic influences that leans more towards an indie vibe than a club track but might easily become a great new addition to your playlists.

Black Eyed Sons feat. Mike Tramp – “Your True Colours”

The next song is for rock music lovers. Mike is a famous rock artist from Denmark, now part of the famous band White Lion. Yet, back in 1978 he represented Denmark as part of the band Mable. His newest song, a featuring with Black Eyed Sons, is a rock ballad that speaks about embracing your true self and remaining authentic.

Ivo Fomins – “Ezera sonāte”

Staying in the rock genre, Ivo, who was part of the Latvian duo Fomins and Kleins that competed for Latvia in 2004, has released a new rock track called “Lake Sonata.” This song will be performed live during his upcoming tour, which kicks off on Valentine’s Day.

Carola – “Tre sekunder”

And this week ends with a lovely and melancholic track from Carola, who represented Sweden in Eurovision three times. First in 1983, then in 1991 when she won, and lastly in 2006. Her newest track is a beautiful ballad called “Three Seconds.” The original song belongs to Norwegian artist Kjartan Lauritzen, a meditative ballad about stopping for three seconds to look around us. Carola recorded the version for the Norwegian show Hver gang vi møtes, where she is currently participating.

As fans will attest, once you’ve got the Eurovision bug it’s hard to let go. So it’s no wonder that every year some past participants of the contest want to have another chance at representing their country.

Here are the new songs from such artists released this week that have been entered into a national selection for Eurovision 2025.

I really dig Why Not??? Him jumping the guy is such a funny visual. Does anyone think this could’ve been what he was planning to submit the ESC 25 before pulling out?
