This week, it’s Malta’s turn to choose their act for Eurovision 2025. The Mediterranean island is buzzing with anticipation ahead of their selection show, MESCMalta Eurovision Song Contest.

Back when the 24 competing songs were first released, we asked y’all to vote for your favourite amongst the pack.

After counting up 3,095 votes in total, we’re now in a position to reveal the results…

Miriana Conte is a favourite to win Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2025

Topping the poll by a strong margin is Miriana Conte.

Miriana’s song “Kant” — meaning “Singing” in English — turned a lot of heads upon first release, and also earned the singer a plethora of fans. This resulted in 765 votes being sent her way, which is a quarter of all the votes cast.

After finishing ninth at MESC 2024, the diva is back and ready to truly serve this year.

In second place, we find Kantera. The folk band bring a fresh flavour to Malta Eurovision Song Contest, along with a very lengthy song title. “LalaRataTakeke LalaRataKabum” picked up 507 votes in our poll — that’s 16.38% of the total.

The bronze medal in this instance is awarded to Kristy Spiteri, who was only slightly behind Kantera. For many of our readers, Kristy truly is “Heaven Sent” — she secured 479 votes, which is 15.48%.

No, Kantera instead of Kant, please !

It is plain to see that this song will never reach ESC stage with these lyrics, and when Kant is removed, virtually nothing remains.

I am actually optimistic that such a song will get just what it’s asking for. As for me, I can be really enthusiastic about what I feel music and ESC should be – just read my posts about France and Portugal.

Swap Kant for Lalaratatakeke Lalaratakabum, then you’re accurate.

Kant is 100% Loop 2.0

0 chances of qualifying no matter the semifinal. Has more chance to end up last than qualifying. Only simps hype it up.

Kantera or Heaven Sent. Either of them will secure Malta of finally qualifying again.

KANT has a 50-50% chance of qualifying in my opinion, that positive 50% comes exclusively from Miriana’s astonishing voice, grest charm and sass. Other than that, the song itself is very weak, apart from the pre-chorus bridge. “Heaven Sent” on the other hand is that something (extremely) fresh and unique that Eurovision is always looking for as we pass edition by edition, and currently, the Eurofans are thirsty for Teya’s (Teodora Spiric) highly artistic, avant-garde techno dance pop/opera fusion theme. Just look at “Who The Hell Is Edgar?” and “The Code”, both juries and public ate those songs up, even… Read more »

Teya came 15th at eurovision with a measly 16 points from the public. Eurofans are absolutely NOT thirsty for Teya or her type of songs. Having said that, I agree with you that KANT is risky. It might do well with the hype around it, or it might flop, considering that song is not that strong. It is however, the most memorable from the bunch. The safest bet for Malta is Kantera – folk songs usually do pretty decent at Eurovision. I am still voting for KANT though 🙂

IMO Heaven Sent is a top ten song at ESC. Kant is a good song but won’t have the broad age appeal.

Kantera all the way. We need a traditional Maltese moment in that stage.

Nah. Hopefully not. This is just a gimmick song. It is just cheap clickbaiting – a song completely sung in English than having just one word in Maltese to tease the censors. And the meaning is what it is – following the modern idiom – serving c*nt; as no one would say serving singing which would be silly and ridiculous.
Besides Miriana, although having a good stage presence and good vocals is not very well liked by the general Maltese public.
I think she would be an unpopular choice.

I think it’s safe to say that people are mostly voting for Miriana for the meme of it all.
And as funny as it would be to see on the ESC stage, I think there are better options if people want something silly and fun.

This song will fail with the jury bad

Think that’d be shooting for my last place if they picked it. Such a gimmick song. Wow you found a way to say a swear word on a generic pop song. Great?
