Lauren Byrne. Holly-Anne Hull. And Charlotte Steele. These are the three women who make up Remember Monday and they’re headed to the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
That’s according to The Sun newspaper, which has spoken to a number of sources behind-the-scenes at the BBC.
The country pop trio met when they were still at school and started making music together every Monday. In 2019 they competed on the U.K. edition of The Voice, where they were coached by Jennifer Hudson.
During their blind audition, all four of the judges — JHud, will.iam, Tom Jones, and Olly Murs — turned their chairs.
Remember Monday are the UK’s Eurovision 2025 act
As The Sun points out, their sound marks a dramatic swerve from Olly Alexander, whose sexually-charged performance in Malmö earned exactly zero points from the public. It seems the BBC have gone for an act that will read as more wholesome to the Eurovision audience.
The trio have described their sound as “a blend of modern and classic country, with a touch of pop and rock”. They’ve cited musical influences like The Chicks, Pistol Annies, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris.
A source told The Sun: “As ever behind the scenes competition has been fierce to represent the UK.”
“This year bosses have opted to shake things up and send a female trio, Remember Monday.”
“The song is a stark change from Olly Alexander last year but the girls are sure to get the nation behind them.”
Olly recently offered advice for the U.K.’s next Eurovision act, telling Graham Norton that whoever flies the flag in Basel should get themselves “a really good therapist.”
Do you think the trio are going to “shake things up”? Or is this a return to the days of the BBC’s You Decide selection, which liked to draw talent from UK singing shows? Let us know down below!
I think this will be great! 🙂
OMG i really thought UK could be in with a chance this year…but nope. I guess nobody wants to host Eurovision 2026 as of now, except for Czechia!
Girl bands don’t normally do well at Eurovision. UK don’t normally do well at Eurovision. I can see this going only one way: another last place possibly?
Another little nugget of optimism!
Country pop is indeed the moment right now. In case you missed it, last year Country was the most popular genre. So on that note it is all a smart choice.
My concern though is that it might be a bit to safe, to wholesome. But they can sing. If it is true good luck to them!
Someone on social media described them as, “the type of group that places third at You Decide.” I can’t unsee it. Thankfully they sing great live, so let’s hope for a good song.
All those people moaning on social media about a country pop group being picked, not realizing that probably the biggest a star around at the moment (Taylor Swift) is a country pop star. They can clearly sing and we haven’t heard their song so can we just give them a chance?
When did Taylor release her last country song? Was it 2009?
My point is that you can have a country sound whilst still being accessible to the masses. Remember Monday are country-pop and even if they weren’t, you only have to look at how much Luke Combs has sold across the globe in recent years to see that even country music can sell.
So….. it’s not even confirmed yet, it’s just a random source who told the sun ??
At least the girls can sing!
90s pop at its worst. Bottom five sorry UK
90s pop? Have you banged your head?
1. Not their field.
2. 90s pop has been actually quite popular for the last 2-3 years. Haven’t you realized?
Country pop in ESC? I’ll give them a chance. They are already more interesting than most songs which have already been confirmed.
Keeping an open mind here. I do think however the BBC really needs to start getting criticism and taking responsibility. If I had continually sent bad performances to my boss, my team would be fired. I think it’s the same for our BBC team, they need to take some accountability and let fresh faces take over. I see this as a last opportunity for the BBC to get a good overall score.
I agree. There seems to be inertia within the BBC delegation and, sadly, Sam Ryder seems more and more like a fluke with each passing year. However, things can always change for the better with effort and self-reflection. Just look at France — from the low of Twin Twin they went on to give us Barbara Pravi, Slimane, Louane, etc.
Interesting to say the least. We got used to sending established artists for a while so i guess this is a nice change. Honestly can’t say anything until I hear the song as I’m not familiar with this genre
I am excited! I’m so glad BBC has listened to fans who wanted something a bit alternative from the UK. I like country music and I certainly can’t wait to hear their song. It seems to me as if fans now expect UK to send record labels stars every year. Not after last year’s result.
I’m getting Systur vibes, which is great, but it’s slightly concerning that the BBC are now looking at reality show rejects for their representative. They didn’t get very far on The Voice, which is an early concern.
That said, as long as they sing live, unlike the two previous UK representatives, then they’re off a better start.
Can we perhaps be a little more respectful than calling them rejects. They’re all west end stars and are recent British Country Music Award winners.
I listened to their songs and i did not like them but remember they just didn’t pick them without a song in mind. This isn’t the case like Olly (a big star) offering to do ESC and having a team of his own.
Good news that they can sing live unlike Olly and Mae but they need a very strong song. Please BBC do not disappoint us.
I hope they did not pick the act over the song… like as usual.
I have mixed feelings about this since some of their songs on their latest EP are dull to say the least. However, it could be an OG3NE situation where juries really eat it up and end up on the left-hand side of the scoreboard
There’s also talk that Thomas Stengaard is one of the composers (also composed Denmark 2013, Germany 2018, Austria 2024 etc.) Just don’t mention Germany 2019
Let’s just hear the song first…
This feels like someone said “what’s on trend?” “Cowboy carter?” “Great – let’s get a beige version of that!”
…said Paul in beige pyjamas
Their sound is not ‘Cowboy Carter’ at all. If we are talking popular music, it’s much closer to ‘please please please’ by Sabrina Carpenter and ‘That’s so True’ by Gracie Abrams.
Sabrina = horny Taylor Swift, Gracie = industry plant propped up by Swift…
Cowboy Carter wasn’t a hit album regardless of how many awards her team bought.
It’s more just the concept of “country” I was talking about
Well OG3NE, Systur, and Hurricane didn’t do so bad, so I remain hopeful!
Systur came 23rd/25 btw
Oh….
Hurricane were surely not “country”!
Talented girls for sure! I’m not used personally to hear country music but there’s an audience for it.
I’m intrigued, good luck!
Multiple articles about the Maltese semifinal (that no one cares about) but not one about the German acts revealed today? I have been following Wiwibloggs for years, but I must admit that ESC Kompakt is slowly becoming my ESC blog #1 to go to.
And yet here you are!
