Who was your favourite tonight? Do you see one of the qualifiers winning Melfest all together? Let us know in the comments below..
I hope there are better to come because the songs that have qualified for the final so far are not impressing me at all!
1: Nomi Tales – such a good song and great staging. Best song in MF this year so far. Just so sad that it is almost impossible to qualify for the final unless you have previous MF-experience. Swedes dont know good songs anymore… 2: Schlagerz – dated and not as charming as Bobbysocks either. But i guess this caters to a certain audience…Last place so far in MF for me. 3: Erik Segerstedt delivered a much better live performance than i expected- song grew on me and lot. I do understand the appeal of this man. 4: Klara Hammarström –… Read more »
I hope another entrant, rather than Mans Zelmerlöw would win Melodifestivalen 2025 because I am bored with Sweden’s wins 🙁
Leave Eurovision off, Mans
I had to lookup who Mans is, I couldn’t remember who he was… I think Sweden has so many ( young) talents, producers artists etc. Why not give them a chance. Mans should not be selfish and give them a chance.
I don’t really understand that sentiment. It’s his job, why should he decline? Would an athlete or a surgeon hand over at a critical stage just to let others take a chance? That said, there are plenty of artists in the line up, so may the best song win. In fact, traditionally the “melodies” are the entries and it’s not the singer competing. It changed over the years, and recently I think “follower count” and marketing machine may be a big chunk of the results. So usually the big song writers have a bunch of songs and write them specifically… Read more »
Erik was really good, I enjoyed his performance very much. Klara was ok, she sang well but I didn’t like the song itself, I though i’ve heard the song somewhere. Then I saw Cazzi Opeia and everything became crystal clear. All others… Well, couldn’t care less.
I see the bots are strong here. Downvoting anything positive about Klara. What’s new?
A -1 vote on positive Klara posts and it’s already bots causing this madness? It’s just not that impactful song, that’s why it doesn’t seem to interest people.
I think Klara’s song has a very memorable catchy chorus. Her voice is lovely, does not sing like a chipmunk through her nose like many of todays female artists. The staging was classy with effective visuals. Loved the clock ticking effect. I think she should do well in the final
It’s starting to look more and more of a medicore year for Melodifestivalen, we’re two heats in and the songs have been very washed up.
I have to agree, if people thought 2023 was bad then what is this year? Extra bad?
Honestly, the 2023 songs are sounding a lot better than this lot. I feel like they’re putting all their eggs on one basket with Mans and everything else is crap to make it an easy victory, but what if his song turns out to be disappointing too? I don’t wanna make a doomsday prediction, but we might face a situation where Sweden could be vulnerable to not qualify for the first time since 2010.
People say that every year. “It’s all mediocre, no final this year. In the end nothing happens. Yet people beat that dead horse to the ground
True, I hate that sentiment too, and I’m sorry that I have contributed to that. I know there are fans that want to see Sweden taken down a peg because they are jealous and hateful that it’s so successful at Eurovision with “plastic pop songs” as they snidely label. But at the same time, we need to be honest about the quality of songs that are competing in this year’s Melfest. While I usually roll my eyes when people say that this is the weakest Melfest ever year after year when it’s really no better or worse than other national… Read more »
From all Klara’s Melfest songs THIS is the one for me. It all worked. So far… winner vibes.
I agree. The staging was classy not cheesy and the song has a catchy memorable chorus
I do think she can win it. The song is already out and is huge so there is time left to warm up to it..
My favourite. But really anybody expect Lundvik or Erik
I really don’t want Mans Zelmerlöw to win Melfest and go to Eurovision again
We all sick of this country rule eurovision it’s fix every year
I don’t think it’s fixed, it’s clear to me watching all the national finals this year for the first time that Sweden puts a lot of money and other investment into their music scene. That produces quality.
Erik Segerstedt keeping it real at the piano. I love it. The song feels like one of my past songs as well, it evokes good memories.
Klara is awesome too, as always, and that songwriting group combination is epic – it goes on and on and on.
Obviously we’re all waiting for Måns, but it’s nice to see MelFest bringing the competition in the meantime.
Klara ate that up! Song grows each listen too.
Ok Erik qualified that’s all I wanted at least a little satisfaction in this night, ty Sweden.
Congratulations to the finalists and wish Kaliffa good luck in the second chance round.
However, I have to say I am not overly impressed with Sweden this year. Two heats in, and it already feels like the weakest Melfest I have ever experienced. Yes, I know there are people who say this about Melfest every year, but I really feel it. Mans better have something strong to salvage this, because if he doesn’t live up to expectations, I think Sweden might genuinely be in trouble this year.
I think Klara is a winner candidate and would do well in ESC
She didn’t win tonight, though
Not in points no. But she very well could have gotten more votes..
Plus more people watch the final than the heats so the song could grow
The first song that qualifies is overall most votes and not based on age groups…
Not anymore. This year they go after points based on groups
It is okay to see Sweden not doing well this year because bored with Sweden’s overrated entries
Who says Sweden are not doing or going to do well.. Just because eurofans say so? They always WISH it. And sometimes they live on another planet.
They say so every year. For some eurofans Sweden “failing” is a wet dream and theonly thing that givesthem joy. However just look at the nummers and you can easily win the argument
If you think Sweden is not good this year , Ireland couldn’t even find one of their own to sing or write Irelands entry. Nothing wrong in selecting a good singer(regardless of nationality ,but there is no Irish connection in any shape or form in their chosen entry. Their song is written and sung by a Norwegian. Ireland making less and less effort every year
Nomi not going through is such a loss. Eurovision worthy performance, song and staging.
I can not rely with the todays results(((
Klara did not come to play and did not disappoint, this might be the year she wins, her vocals were ON POINT. It’s a huge pop hit that could work internationally. The staging is not as sleek as we’re used to from Melfest, so for the first time in a long time they won’t be able to do a complete copy and paste if she goes to ESC. It needs more spice, though it had workable elements.
But she could not win her heat. Why would she win Mello,
It doesn’t mean that she didn’t win her heat. She could have gotten more votes than Erik, just that he got votes in every age group.
But I think they decide the result after votes now?
First finalist (Erik) is decided based upon points per age group. The qualifier for the kvalfinal (Kaliffa) and the second finalist (Klara) are decided based on total number of votes.
So there are two separate systems and it’s not really logical why they do this.
So it means that Klara could have got more votes than Erik, just that Erik got more support across all groups?
Yep
It would be a hit back in 2015-2017 lol. But it was my guilty pleasure. The camera angles were just wow
Erik has aged well, like La Rioja wine
The last 30 seconds of Klaras song was just perfection!!
Expected but I thought it would be the other way around. That tells me Klara might get jury votes but not as much televotes.
I hope the song grows til then..
And Erik I think might be happy just to be in final
As usual, it is the singers that stand out the most that go out immediately. I refuse to believe that Erik got the most votes out of everyone. There is definitely something wrong. They might as well rename the entire program to the Artist Festival because it is the NAMES that matters the most. Klara could just as easily have sung everything and still qualify. Nomi was clearly the best of them all
I can see the appeal with votes. It truly is a ESC song. A song your grandma can enyoy. A song you can enyoy.
Bur in final I can’t see it doing well..
So there are age groups for people’s votes. This is done to weight the votes for different age groups.
This year points are awarded to the songs to know the first song to qualify for the final. So Erik does not need to have the most votes. He got the most POINTS. After this is done we get to know that Klara got the most VOTES out of the remaining five acts. Kaliffa got the second most VOTES of the remaining five acts.
The system is hard to understand. I hope I explained it clear enough
But that makes the second qualifier less impactful? then since points are more important than votes?
But in the final its the nummer of votes that counts right?
Nope. Points system. Only if two songs get the same amount of points do the number of votes influece. The one with more votes gets the higher spot. So you might end up with more points than votes because you had more support across all goups. Which is what I think happened last night with Erik
Klara was expected and and I even anticipated Kaliffa to go to second chance, but I didn’t see Erik going straight to the final coming. I guess it means Nomi is out for good. Shame, It was one of my favorites.
You wouldn’t normally expect 2nd in the heat to be a threat in the final but that performance from Klara at the end might just spark something. Erik looked a right Ken stood next to the real superstar
Not sure if it matters but after broadcast Klara’s odds have risen while Erik’s have sunk.
Of course that means nothing and Swedes do love bland anthems so who knows?
Erik first… shocker. I was fully expecting it to be Klara.
Nomi, Klara, and Schlagerz. Goodbye to the rest.
Kaliffa successfully brought a party, but he cant have quite that many dancers at Eurovision
Fredrik.
Make Sweden Great Again
Klara with a truly great expensive performance but one of the most uninspired songs I have heard in a while. It truly gives nothing but will landslide the semi.
Klara. Not convinced at first, but by the end I was completely won over.
Ok Klara came to win
Show Me What Love is is Fine, but not exciting enough for Eurovision.
Erik, too Coldplay,I find it triggering. Not for me. Mediocre stadium rock
The type the average hetero Joe loves
Schlagerz. I’m sorry, but I love the song, and I love them. I can’t help it.
On the very same stage where Bobbysocks won in 1985, appropriate
It’s kind of every dansband song mixed together. You can sing Waterloo in the chorus and no-one will notice 🙂
AI Dansband
Is SVT now geoblocked ?
Watching from USA, so shouldnt be.
Turn off the cookies on SVT play. This worked for me
I’m loving this time travel back to the 80s
Especially the graphics
I agree. The best part of the show. Also liked the Schlagerz entry. But I guess it just says I’m old and Swedish.
I can not watch it , unfortunately , due to many other things that’s happening but go The Heart of a Swedish Cowboy!
Before the show, I have listened to all six songs competing in this heat and here is my ranking
1. Funniest Thing
2. On and On and On
3. Shuffle
4. Show Me What Love Is
5. The Heart of a Swedish Cowboy
6. Don Juan
Basically I want Klara and Nomi to be the direct qualifiers and Kaffla to be the 3rd placer for the second chance round. We’ll see if my predictions are correct or horribly wrong. Good luck every one.
