We have been graced with the gorgeous tones of Tautumeitas‘ harmonies, as the 6-piece group will be flying the Latvian flag at Eurovision 2025 with their etherial folksy anthem “Bur Man Laimi”!

Latvia is on a mission to continue a qualification streak after Dons took the Baltic nation to the final last year with his moody ballad “Hollow”. A great feat, as they hadn’t performed in the Grand Final since 2016. With an extremely strong line-up in Supernova 2025, it was clear they meant business.

In a final with a wide range of genres and style of artists, it was Tautumeitas who have come out on top. They had to beat out Eurovision alumni Citi Zēni with their on-brand upbeat track “Ramtai”, and Wiwibloggs reader’s favourite The Ludvig with his traditional-modern blended entry “Līgo”.

In the end, the authenticity and magical nature of “Bur Man Laimi” cut through with it’s stunning staging and spine-tingling tones. Since the semi-final, many fans had started to take mroe notice of this initially underrated song.

The song is presented with a large curtain with projections on, for a rain-like effect. The six women making up Tautumeitas appear through the fringing to perform their lines, and come together for low-key choreo to make a stunning effect on camera. They looked high fashion yet traditional in neutral hued dresses and crowns akin to leaves. You can also see this and their style as having water-esque elements, reflecting into the prior-mentioned rain effects on the curtain.

It really is a visual spectacle, and Latvia would possibly be wise to try and bring this exact staging to Basel. Could they continue the qualificatio streak that Dons started last year?

Results

As per the Supernova 2025 rules, the result was decided by a 50/50 split of votes from an international Jury (ranking entries with points of 1-7, then 8, 10 and 12), and the public televote in Latvia. In the case of a tie, the public’s choice goes to Eurovision.

Running Order

  1. Chris Noah – “Romance Isn’t Dead”
  2. Palú – “Delusional”
  3. Sinerģija – “Bound By The Light”
  4. Citi Zēni – “Ramtai”
  5. Tepat – “Sadzejot”
  6. The Ludvig – “Līgo”
  7. Markus Riva – “Bigger Than This”
  8. Tautumeitas – “Bur Man Laimi”
  9. Bel Tempo x LEGZDINA – “The Water”
  10. Emilija – “Heartbeat”

Final Result

In a shock result, the odds had The Ludvig to take the win here (as broadcaster LTV like to remind us throughout the show). Interestingly, he didn’t even make the Top 3. The full result of the evening was as follows:

  1. Tautumeitas – “Bur Man Laimi”
  2. Emilija – “Heartbeat”
  3. Citi Zēni – “Ramtai”
  4. The Ludvig – “Līgo”
  5. Chris Noah – “Romance Isn’t Dead”
  6. Bel Tempo x LEGZDINA – “The Water”
  7. Palú – “Delusional”
  8. Markus Riva – “Bigger Than This”
  9. Sinerģija – “Bound By The Light”
  10. Tepat – “Sadzejot”

Finally we know Latvian folklore. Interesting, like Vesna with Czech folklore. Thanks we can know something more about traditional music of small nations.

Interesting but to my ears it sounds like a no-song, no offence. I appreciate the artistic value and the staging and performance are wonderful but there’s literally no song for me. I can’t understand the melody and sync it with the words. No luck for this song in the semis without juries. I am sorry Latvia. Good luck!

Full results are out. Tautumeitas and Emilija were both tied for 1st with 18 points. Emilija got 8 points from televote and Tautumeitas got 10 points. Ludvig won the televote (5 jury votes) and Citi Zeni won the jury vote (but got 6 televote points).

Breaking news: Top 3 of Supernova 2025, all tied in the final with 18 points each.

Tautumeitas won with the public out of the Top 3 getting 10 points and 8 coming from the jurors, Citi Zeni scoring 6 points with the public but winning the juries and Emilja scoring 10 with the juries and 8 with the public.

The Ludvig won the televote but placed last with jurors.

Ludwig didn’t place last with jurors. He got 5 points. Putting him on 17 just 1 point behind the top 3.

Several years ago Tautumeitas had a brilliant collaboration with Aminata (Aminata & Tautumeitas – Dz?vot Cit?d?k). That song was more Eurovision-like.
Anyway, I love Bur man laimi. Very great meaning and fabulous staging.

I like it, but I am an ethno s**t. I can see the problems, of it being too “inaccessible” for most of the people just casually watching on the day. Like Slovenia, I could see it qualifying with a 50/50 but not with a full televote.

The Ludvig should have won. Be had the best song and edited his performance to meet the large amount of criticism earlier in the week. Ligo had a certain accessibility to it that Bur Man Laimi does not. This song that was chosen lacks a proper melody. Despite great visuals, vocals and staging, will people remember it? I think Latvia is qualifying but we’ve seen ethnic entries like these that sail through to the final but get a bottom five result before. Ligo at least had a melody people could latch onto. I also found the way they announced the… Read more »

This will certainly qualify! Beautiful song and performance. Will stand out amongst all the glitter and drama 🙂 Could also do very well with the juries in the final. Well done choosing this, Latvia!

Beautiful, poetic and authentic!I love the fact they kept their language.
The staging is ready to go to Basel. No doubt the production in Basel will elevate the initial quality of the staging.
I hope they will qualify for the final.
Good luck Tautumeitas!

The biggest surprise of the NFs of this season. I like the song and I am happy for them even if I liked Ramtai and Romance isn’t dead more.

I like the song. It doesn’t shout scandal like the other 3 songs released at the same time, but it’s one of the strongest entries for me this year so far. I really like that they use different pitches.

Am I the only one who isn’t that stoked about this? First year in a long time where the Latvian entry doesn’t really leave an impression on me of any kind. The staging – sure, it’s good, but the song is just so… meh?

Not my cup of tea either. I was looking forward to Latvia’s sending a song in Latvian for a change, but this “masterpiece” of theirs just doesn’t sound good.

I think this could be an issue for the UK if they’re sending Remember Monday because they could go for the same audience, but Latvia is gonna smash any competition in this sort of field with this level of staging.

Not particularly. Remember Monday are in the country/pop world and Tautumeitas are more akin to folk/ethereal pop so, I don’t see where the similarities arise and connect other than the fact that they’re girl bands.

In my books, this should not struggle to qualify.

The language is so magical. I hope one day all countries send songs in their native languages.

The performance is ESC ready and they should not change the stage concept.

Congrats, Latvia. You had a few good options but you selected the best one!

That was a great final and I’m sad that it was such a busy evening and I couldn’t follow it better. I’d be happy with any of the Top 4 winning tbh, and I think Tautumeitas will do a good job in May, since they are solid performers and the song is definitely interesting and enjoyable, although maybe not the most international of the Top 4. I was expecting “Ligo” to do better, but something didn’t connect well for me live. Good luck Latvia, I think you can make the final again.

I think it’s beautiful that Eurovision is going to hear a full Latvian song for the first time since 2004. Tautumeitas has the vocals, stage performance and the song. I also think Supernova needs to be credited as one of if not the BEST budget national final ever. Brilliant choice, hope Europe does them justice.

Congratulations to TAUTUMEITAS! It’s amazing that for the first time since 2004, we have a fully Latvian language entry in Eurovision. It’s been way too long. Now Lithuania and Estonia need to bring it in their national languages too so we can have all three Baltic languages for the first time ever at Eurovision!

If I may assume that you are Lithuanian, I just learned that Liepa and Black Biceps got wildcard slots to the join the final due to their high televote scores. How do you feel about it? Do you view it as justice?

Cool choice from Latvia! Interesting song and fantastic staging. I think it’ll be middle of the pack ultimately, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a worthy song – will bring great diversity to the mix this year.

Em?lija’s song wasn’t bad, but honestly in a year where we had Tautumeitas and such a unique song from The Ludvig, choosing a song like hers would’ve felt underwhelming.

I think this is really a showcase of why staging is the most important factor for Eurovision. In a field of a lot of strong songs, the winner ends up being the one that was far and away the best presented. Well done Tautumeitas

This was number three in my personal ranking, but as we saw in Ireland last night, you need to bring it and own it in the live performance with a great staging and vocals, and they delivered.
