The second night of Festival di Sanremo just ended, and after seeing 15 out of 29 artists perform tonight, we have a new top five. The ranking is the result of a split vote: 50% televote and 50% radio jury.
Festival di Sanremo took place in the city of Sanremo at Teatro Ariston, just like in previous years. The 15 contestants performed alongside the festival’s orchestra.
Tonight, we witnessed two semifinals in the New Proposals category, which is separate from the main competition. The qualifiers who will perform again tomorrow are Alex Wyse and Settembre.
Another highlight of the second night of the festival was Damiano David from the iconic Italian band Måneskin (winners of Eurovision 2021), who was invited as a guest. He performed two songs: Felicità, a tribute to Lucio Dalla, and his solo song Born with a Broken Heart.
The show was hosted by Carlo Conti and co-hosted by Bianca Balti, Cristiano Malgioglio, and Nino Frassica. While yesterday’s voting was decided by the press jury, tonight the vote was split equally between the televote and the radio jury.
Festivali di Sanremo 2025: Night 2
Top 5
Today, the voting started from the very first performance, with additional time allowed for voting after the last performance. A provisional ranking is created after each night, but this year, the full chart will not be made public. Instead, the audience will only know which artists made it into the top five, but in a completely random order.
The rankings from the first three nights are crucial for the contestants, as they will contribute to the final result in the Grand Final.
After the second night, the artists who made it into the top five are:
- Giorgia – “La cura per me”
- Lucio Corsi – “Volevo essere un duro”
- Simone Cristicchi – “Quando sarai piccola”
- Achille Lauro – “Incoscienti giovani”
- Fedez – “Battito”
Today’s chart is largely similar to yesterday’s, with four names remaining the same. Among them is Achille Lauro, a former Eurovision participant for San Marino in 2022, who impresses this time with a deep ballad about youth, lost time, and lost love. If Achille’s appearances in Sanremo in the previous years were eccentric, this time he impresses everyone with pure class.
Giorgia, considered one of the greatest female voices of the festival, remains in the ranking with a heartbreaking ballad about love, suffering, and healing—capturing how a person can be both your pain and your cure. Lucio Corsi stands out with a song about embracing your authentic self, offering a confidence boost with the message that you are enough just as you are.
Simone Cristicchi appears to be one of the favorites this year, receiving a standing ovation after his performance and once again bringing tears to the audience’s eyes. His song When You’ll Be Little tells the heartbreaking story of a son caring for his ailing mother, exploring the pain of watching parents change and the profound act of returning the love once received. The lyrics speak of the patience needed to guide a mother who forgets who she is due to illness, remembering her about the dear ones, the tenderness of looking after her, and the power of love in easing the pain of feeling helpless against the passage of time.
The only change in today’s chart is the absence of Brunori Sas, who did not perform tonight as he is scheduled for tomorrow. He was replaced by Fedez, whose powerful rap song delves into the struggles that follow a painful breakup—an obsession with the past and how two people who once loved each other ended up causing each other pain instead.
Night 2 running order
- Rocco Hunt – “Mille volte ancora”
- Elodie – “Dimenticarsi alle 7”
- Lucio Corsi – “Volevo essere un duro”
- The Kolors – “Tu con chi fai l’amore”
- Serena Brancale – “Anema e core”
- Fedez – “Battito”
- Francesca Michielin – “Fango in paradiso”
- Simone Cristicchi – “Quando sarai piccola”
- Marcella Bella – “Pelle diamante”
- Bresh – “La tana del granchio”
- Achille Lauro – “Incoscienti giovani”
- Giorgia – “La cura per me”
- Rkomi – “Il ritmo delle cose”
- Rose Villain – “Fuorilegge”
- Willie Peyote – “Grazie ma no grazie”
Who was your favorite tonight? What are your thoughts about tonight’s top 5? Let us know in the comments below.
Night 3 is on
Do we know tonight’s program and running order already?
Clara on first… Irama, Francesco G a b b a n i, and Gaia to finish.
I think Fuorilegge would be the favourite for the win in Basel, in the current field. Ironically it seems to have no chance at all of winning Sanremo. I can see the appeal of Simone Cristicchi, an honest song by an honest performer, but I fear it appeals mostly to Italians.
The 3 songs the most popular on youtube and by far are Simone, Giorgia and Fedez songs.
On Spotify we still don’t know, but the fact that these 3 songs have already twice or 3 times more views than all the others is already a good indication imo.
As italian I think that the most artistico choice for esco would be Lucio Corsi or Joan Thiele. I also think that Giorgia would take a lot of jury votes. Cristicchi is a mistery, he would do well as Salvador Sobral or flop very bad. Achille Lauro or Olly would make not so well with their mediocre song. Fedez another mistery, his Song his powerful but he uses too much autotune
*artistic
*esc
Joan is really underrated I think. She has a very interesting entry. Lucio too, but he seems to be getting attention
I think Giorgia would be the most italian choice. No matter if she wins, at least she could show what she can do.
I never liked Achille Lauro’s Eurovision song for 2022, but this song fascinated me. I hope he wins.
Totally agree with you
I am getting the feeling that apart from Simone and Giorgia who by now seem like clear frontrunners for the victory, Fedez, Achille and perhaps Olly are the possible “Eurovision choices”, of course provided that Simone and Giorgia actually turn down the offer.
Simone Cristicchi said that he would love to represent Italy. Regarding Giorgia, I do not understand why she should turn down the offer, she would be perfect.
Simone’s songs certainly has its musical moments and I like a lot of parts of the song. Also it must surely be a great lyrical experience for a native Italian speaker. Nevertheless, I think this song is not easily translatable for an international audience, and especially for a fast-paced contest like Eurovision.
Regarding Giorgia, I am really not a fan of this song (and generally I never really enjoy Blanco’s compositions). She has an amazing voice with a great range but the song does not sit well with me.
In fact, Simone Cristicchi has to think about it very carefully, as much as he might legitimately like to represent Italy, he would be taking a considerable risk to take this song to Eurovision, which makes the lyrics the song’s most powerful feature. In fact, in my opinion, interpretation and music are totally insufficient. So I think he can give up even if he wants to take it to Europe, because it would not be worth it either personally or artistically. It’s different for Giorgia, for me, as she brings a genre that could easily finds its place at Eurovision,… Read more »
Yes I agree with your points on Cristicchi. Regarding Giorgia, perhaps it’s just my personal feel towards the song, she certainly has more potential for Eurovision than Cristicchi. But yes it certainly needs some revamping to make it more memorable and explosive as you said.
Giorgia and Simone would be top class, but the other 3 dudes would each make for the worst Italian representative in a very very long time…
I disagree. Fedez’s song is really powerful and would do great at ESC. Achille is really improved vocally and the song even if it is not great and maybe drags on too much is melodical enough to also appeal to a wider audience. I am not a fan of Olly’s song, I find the song mediocre but he does have a distinct interpretation
Nevertheless, for me the most Eurovision-friendly tune and my favourite of this selection by far is Fuorilegge by Rose Villain
Too many comments about ‘not good for Eurovision’ They don’t care about that! San Remo is THE music festival preceding Eurovision and what it’s modelled after. Italians want the best song to won San Remo, Eurovision is an after thought and I mean that in the best possible way. Out of the top 5 I like Giorgia the best. Overall Serena Brancale
Italy’s worst results were when they did not send the Sanremo’s winning song, namely Emma in 2014 and Francesca Michielin in 2016. Since 2017, only winning songs have been sent and the ‘worst’ result was a seventh place. I would trust much more the process, because only quality songs come out of Sanremo that are appreciated by an audience of 60 million people, which is already a good step for the Eurovision test..
it seems like simone’s song has something really special that maybe doesnt translate, cause it seems to be doing incredible but i just have no connection to it
either way, out of the top5 i’ll definitely be rooting for fedez
For non-Italians, it is difficult to understand why Simone’s song is chosen to be in top. But agree, I also don’t have any connection with that song
Simone’s song is about Alzheimer’s; you can find the translation at Eurovisionworld.
The song is the story of Simone’s mother. She has an issue with Alzheimer disease. The lyrics tell the story of this, of her mother getting like a child because she doesn’t remind things due to alzheimer. And his son, Simone, is recalling everything that happened when he was a child and her was teaching him things. Now it’s the opposite. He is reminding things to the wife of his father.
Simone Cristicchi’s song is about his relationship with his mother suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. The Italian public appreciates it very much because they are culturally attached to the figures of mothers and grandmothers and everyone can see a piece of their own story in it.
Achille Lauro for the wln.
YES!!!
Simone Cristicchi doesnt deserve to be in top5; his song is completely boring 🙁
Excluding Fedez, Francesca Michelin, Achille and Irama; I am sure that most of these singers never even watched Eurovision or have knowledge about what kind of songs might be better for Eurovision :/
I like ballad songs but majority of the ballad songs of Sanremo were repetitive, not so distinguishable.
It’s so fun you still comment with different names constantly, weird how Roger is also commenting right after or before you. With multiple names too!
Frederick aka Michael aka Fabian aka Thomas aka David and so on.
All of your comments seem to be negative, specially hateful to certain countries. Answer please, why you do this? 🙂
Hi Ruu, are you an inspector or are you a Polyanna? 🙂
Everyone is free to express his/her thoughts; positive or negative.
I’m questioning using several names to implide an impression of a bigger group of people hating things on an agreement, I’m still waiting to hear his answer.
No need for your interaction on this, super silly also you have same name as one of the aliases he uses! Such a coincidence! 🙂
Amazing how you Robert have commented 17 hours ago right after my message, but as your comment only showed up now after almost one day means that you haven’t commented previously at all! So weird! 🙂
How do you comments get 25 upvotes in two minutes, Ruu?
It’s weird.
God only knows, I suppose I’m not the only one who is tired of “Frederick”s constant bashing.
Who on earth in Italy vote for Simone; it was just boring song. Same for Giorgia’s song; heard many Italian ballads like her song; neither original nor memorable song.
Simone’s song has a deep message.
It’s done for Elodie and Rose…
The thing is definetely between Simone and Giorgia.
Achille and Lucio will be in the Final top5 I think but won’t fight for the victory.
For the fifth post it’s still open…Fedez, Bruno Sas, Olly…
This was a random order announcement; so Fedez can win potentially.
Cant understand how Giorgia’s boring song is still in top5.
How Fedez could win not even being in the top5 of the press compared to Giorgia, Simone, Achille and Lucio?
It’s done for him imo.
I would prefer Fedez over Giorgia’s and Achille’s slow tempo ballads
Elodie deserved better, but I’m happy enough with those five.
Until the next time…
Buonanotte a tutti
Buonanotte Jonas.
Lucio for the win!!!
He is so Good
Been out/blocked? Still here, watching Damiano and waiting for results
Happy for Lucio Corsi and Giorgia, but wish Elodie & Rose Villian were in the top 5 today as well
Why Italians don’t like Elodie; rather they prefer that boring song from Simone?
We are not too much into dance music. Additionally Elodie repeats herself too much. Probably she has lost the ideal time slot or ideal push to win it at least once. She is on the same spell/tragedy of Irama. Always around 5th or 6th position but no chance to actually win it. On the contrary, other singers have won it the first or second time. Like the italian representative in 2017 (I cannot write his name or my posts are blocked, that’s crazy), Ermal Meta, Arisa. Etc.
Because we are a passionate people and we prefer a song well sung or which gives us emotions, better than an empty pop or dance song. We are not Swedish or English. Pop isn’t our Mecca.
Elodie not even in the top 5 of the partial 15 acts. It will be very taugh for her to win this thing.
Infatti. She won’t win
I know Sanremo is not selection for Eurovision but if Giorgia for instance wins Sanremo 2025 and accepts to represent Italy; someone should inform her that her song is not good for Eurovision
Why? The Eurovision voters would be to blame, not Giorgia. Anyway, the juries usually over reward quality vocals, so she should be fine.
Problem is that televote gives lot of votes to the playful song, like Windows 95man, or Baby Lasagna, or the sexy dance of Chanel, or Joost Klein. Or something like that. So quality cannot win. Additional some juries of some countries would prefer to shoot on their feet instead than voting for Italy. Anglosphere, the Nordics, the Baltics, some east european countries.
I appreciate Italians’ emphasis on quality but Italy could choose songs who are both musically had high quality and not static or boring 🙂 Whereas, Giorgia’s song sounds quite outdated.
It is actually “shooting to the feet” situation for Italy; namely sending a static, outdated song.
Anyway, good luck for Italy
I know. But we have examples. Il Volo were sunk by juries. Mahmood was also sunk by juries. Måneskin were 4th for juries. So we know the classic italian ballad may be in the top 5, but never 1st. Think to Meta & Moro in 2018. Also, if Juries were clever or not politically, driven, Mengoni would win in 2013 and 2023. But we know it is not the case. So I don’t think there will ever be an alignment of planes so lucky to let Italy win another time in 20 or 30 years. Meanwhile Sweden will have taken out… Read more »
Planes=planets
Agree with Sweden’s case; bored with their tactics to send their previous winners.
Sweden will kill Eurovision. I am sure about that. And Christer Bjorkman and the other guy controlling it and sitting at the special desk in the arena are doing everything to kill the Eurovision and the correctness of it.
And what does Italy do every year? They let the same artists perform in San Remo every year! Even those who won the San Remo- festival before. And there is no rule that say we can’t send former eurovision winners. If we do then it’s because that certain artist knows what it takes and has something good going on. I bet if other countries would be able to do so then they absolutely would do it.
You know, until now Italy has only won with a different artist and never twice with the same artist. And we only won 3 times, not 8 like you, desperately hunting for the 9th, the 10th, the 11th, in order to annhilate all the competition. The only one who won with a returning artist were Ireland and Sweden, who, by chance, share the highes number of victories. Additonally, why the executive director cannot be from another country and not always from Sweden or another Nordic country? There is no rule that you cannot send twice or more, the same artist,… Read more »
At least we don’t sound like we live in the 50’s anymore. Italy do. Maybe it’s time for them to step out of the fridge and keep up with what’s going on in the real world and create international hits. I’m sure they can, but they are too proud.
better being retro with the 50’s than pretending it’s current with early 2010’s
Pity that the the only act from Eurovision who has become a global sensation is not Sweden but Italy, with Maneskin. Loreen is know only into the eurovision bubble. Go check if Loreen is known in the USA, Japan, etc. Check if Loreen has been called to open a concert of a famous American Singes. Maneskin have been called by Rolling Stones to open their concert in Las Vegas. Just to tell you.
Do we have to speak about the same cheesy pop song using props as an elevator factor, what Sweden is always bringing? At least Italy has brought N different music styles. And has made the top 10 with different music styles.
And we never won thanks to the props.
It’s only Sweden to bring computer graphics (Mans Zermelow), psycho lighting (Marcus and Martinus), walking platforms on the stage, etc etc.
I think they should remove the Press voting at Sanremo.
When they would announce the top5 results fr televoting?
In a couple of minutes.
And yeah absence of Amadeus is felt so strongly, especially after last year which was one of the best (if not the best) in my opinion. He was making really good selections and he was such a charismatic and energetic host. Hope he comes back soon.
So sad that Elodie has no chances to win. She’s perfect. And her performance tonight was even better. The song perfectly fits her voice, so she can show it at her best too. Would be such a pleasure to see this in Eurovision stage. But yeah, Sanremo is not a Eurovision selection, so it follow its own narrative and traditions (sometimes for good, sometimes for not so good)
Personally i liked her Dr. Suess Thing 1/Thing2 look from last night better, but I really do love this song and performance from Rose Villian
I really hope Rose Villain goes to Eurovision, by far my favourite this year. Amazing song!
(even if I know it’s highly unlikely, let me have my delusions)
#Milano2026
I really think she could win Eurovision with this song
Additionally, we will have the Arena di Santa Giulia (Pala Italia) ready for 2026. It will be used in february for the ice skating competition for the Olympic games. 16K seats. They are completing it. I live not far from it so I can see the progression of the construction works each time I drive closeby.
I hope televotng would change the results; otherwise all boring ballad songs would be in top5.
“Rose Villain” is a very Bambie Thug style moniker.
(Two Jonases. I must be dreaming.)
Ah yes! Thanks, I hadn’t noticed that.
I am one and the same! My usual picture only shows up on my older device, not my new phone. Don’t ask me why.
You had me confused for some days now 🙂
I’d fix it if I knew how 🙁
It’s okay now we know
Not two of the Jonas Brothers then.
My evil twin
Carolina Kostner, olympic medal of ice skating. She is the ambassador for the incoming italian winter games in 2026.
Will the Olympics in Milano next year interfere with Sanremo?
Well, it’s a long story. As you may know the risk is that RAI will loose the Festival of Sanremo. An Administrative tribunal has stated the need of a tender to assign the broadcaster, open to any broadcaster who will request the organization of Sanremo. So it will be assigned to the best offer. Discovery (Paramount) will probably present an offer (considering that Amadeus now work for that TV network, which is channel number 9 in Italy). Rai presented a complaint to the Consiglio di Stato to reject or confirm the TAR tribunal decision. Anyway, if RAI will be confirmed,… Read more »
Thanks. Wow, I didn’t know about the rights issue. Surely 3-7 Feb is still okay though? They’ll sort it out. How many Winter sports finals would run on the first Saturday until 2am the next day? Curling?
I don’t think RAI will be willing to have two such important things in the same period or overlapping. Sanremo requires a lot of preparation, so for me, either it will be end of january or they will postpone Sanremo to early march, until middle march, such as in 2021 during the pandemic. But RAI also wants to have Sanremo in february because they are using it as a drive to the sales of the advertisement slots. A successfull Sanremo fills the vaults of RAI and increases the advertisement revenues.
Hm, I want Rai to keep it! This is essential public broadcasting, it should be on the state broadcaster. Private networks can keep their hands off it. I blame Meloni. Thanks.
I also want that RAI keeps it and I am sure they will find a way to “arrange” the thing with the Mayor of Sanremo in a way the tender goes to RAI. Organizing Sanremo is complicate. Consider the live orchestra etc. The broadcasting rights. In case RAI will loose it, I am sure they will organize an Eurovision Selection in a sport arena, like Milan or Turin and make it a grandiose show like the Eurovision. An Italian Melfest. And I am sure the poert.of RAI and the fact many people in the audience will have problems in pushing… Read more »
There will only be a slight overlap. Sanremo 2026 will probably be 3-7 Feb. Winter Olympics start on 6 Feb officially, but they don’t really get going until the week of 9 Feb. So it should be okay.
Let’s hope
“These young men really should learn not to lose their shirts in poker games.”, said my mother, once. Actually I prefer them without shirts.
I once got to watch Joe Mcelderry sing shirtless. Apart from the obvious attraction, this taught me a lot about how to use all of the diaphram and core section when singing (and not just some of it).
I must confess my eye was drawn to that nipple. I am only human.
Me too. 🙂
Additionally hugging Jerry Scotti (yesterday) and showing male nipples gives extra Fantasanremo points.
One more reprise of tutta l’italia and I will scream
I agree with you. One of the worse jingles of Sanremo ever used. Unfortunately Carlo Conti wanted to pay tribute to this song of the DJ named Gabry Ponte, the former member of Eiffel 65. The one famous for Blue Da Ba Di etc.
They guy who tried to represent San Marino
I like it! lmao
Giorgia is just incredible, one of the most beautiful voices you can find
Giorgia is as good now, better even, as at the time of her win over thirty years ago.
Nice to hear her singing “the runs” like the divas Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion etc.
“La cura per me” is another Michelangelo-produced perfect piece of art. There’s a lot of talent there, for sure.
But it is a boring ballad for non-Italians
Giorgia can do better with her voice. Unfortunately the song is quite conservative so it doesn’t give the chance to showcase her voice better. It’s like Marco Mengoni in 2023. Due Vite was nice, but Marco has a killer voice, and you could notice it when he sang the cover with the gospel choir. If he was singing a song like that at Eurovision, he would be winning Eurovision anytime. But probably they don’t want to push the bar too far, because the Sanremo stage also gives a lot of emotions and tension, and these are quite conflicting with a… Read more »
Only four songs left, but about 90 minutes to fill… what else is to come
This mop thing is an old joke, I even mentioned it earlier. Still funny, though.
What is your favourite Queen song?
Too many classics to choose from.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” is the big one. I’ve had a go at a few of then over the years, but that one is very special. It’s like a mini-opera.
A rhapsody indeed.
Maybe it’s Don’t Stop Me Now for me.
Sorry but Achille Lauro is one of the weakest vocalists, and his song is boring
He sings with soul, more important that hitting the perfect note
More important THAN hitting the perfect note
I agree. I don’t like his voice.
I hope Lauro gets his best result yet
Better than winning the San Marino national final? What Sanremo result placing would that be equivalent to, I wonder?
16th?
Achille Lauro’s sourpuss grimace is hot
Very well rehearsed. It might even be a trademark. (But I love it.)
Id the magic fairytale staircase worth the delay of entrance?
The first seconds of Bresh remind me of Dinle
Marcella Bella, 72 years old, I love how older artists are treated with respect at Sanremo
If Simone Cristicchi wins he should say no to ESC. His song is totally untranslatable to the international market.
Completely agree
Why is Simone striking such an emotional chord with the audience…? They’ve really taken it to heart.
“Standing ovation”
It seems to be a touching and sweet song about caring for mother after she’s forgotten her past, so it’s the art of the child becoming the carer of the parent. That’s a story that will resonate with a lot of people. My problem with it is musically I don’t feel connected to it, and visually how do you show ESC the story affectionately? Italy are making this selection tougher than it needs to be this year.
My attempted explanation… was filtered.
🙁
The song is about his mother who has alzheimer disease.
Beautiful lyrics.
Fedez is probably my fav
enjoying Carlo much more tonight, but I still miss Ama! : (
He seems to host with the same sense if humour and eccentric co-hosts as Amadeus, but not as lovable
exactly
Damiano looks a little pale and tired… just bad make-up?
Just different lighting. It’s Teatro Ariston lighting, so it’s… artistic?
I was hoping he’d smash all those plants, Blanco-style
Haha, ohh I remember that. Good times
Gianni Morandi then came on with a sweeping brush… aah, memories
Born With A Broken Heart…. very The Killers
