He debuted in Norway’s MGP as part of a trio in 2023, and now two years later Kyle Alessandro is on his own in the Norwegian final. If our readers could decide the outcome, he would also win Saturday’s final and go to Basel in May, because he won our poll ahead of the other 8 competitors.

His entry “Lighter” got 28.15% of the total votes, followed closely in second place by another bookie favourite Nataleen with “The Game” at 20.28%. Third place was snatched by 2005 Eurovision alum Wig Wam and their entry “Human Fire” with 10.04%.

Result of Melodi Grand Prix 2025 poll

  1. Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter” – 28.15% (429 votes)
  2. Nataleen – “The Game” – 20.28% (309 votes)
  3. Wig Wam – “Human Fire” – 10.04% (153 votes)
  4. Ladybug – “Hot as Hell in Paradise” – 9.91% (151 votes)
  5. Bobbysocks – “Joyful” – 9.78% (149 votes)
  6. Tone Damli – “Last Song” – 9.25% (141 votes)
  7. LLL – “Parasite” – 6.30% (96 votes)
  8. Nora Jabri – “Sulale” – 3.81 (58 votes)
  9. Sondrey – “Vagabond” – 2.49% (38 votes)

MGP has received an unnecessarily bad press this year, there’s some absolute bangers in the selection. I’ll be bopping along happily tomorrow night

I want Secret Garden to perform as interval. 30th anniversary, plus the Bobbysocks connection.

They almost never show up on Eurovision events. 🙁

How was Emmy rejected from MGP? Laika Party is a stronger entry than most of these.

This song is boring. I think Nataleen would be a better choice but there is nothing that is really great nor stands out….

lol I think this is the first time in over a decade of following ESC that the only song I like in a national final is dead last in the odds and the polls lol

This year is a weak one in Norway. But that’s ok. It happens.

I like Ladybug (I like this music style, and it reminds me a lot of the 90s and 00s)

I believe the best chance for Q are WigWam (3/4 of the song are pretty good, I don’t like the old-school guitar part at the end).

Held og lykke, Norge!

They won’t but their song this year reminds me of “Take me to your heaven” Sweden 1999 and “Listen to your heartbeat” Sweden (can’t remember the year).

Exactly what I thought of when listening to Joyful. It kinda sounds like an ABBA Christmas song.

ABBA only have one Christmas song, and it doesn’t really sound like this.

“Little Things”, try it. I like it a lot.

Doesn’t it remind you of their own 1985 winner?

Listen to your Heartbeat was Sweden 2001, but heavily inspired by Belgium 1996.

I actually love their song – it’s nostalgic and fun. Still, I don’t think it would be the right pick.

There is no right pick, so why not celebrate the 40th anniversary of Bobbysocks? I hope they win, even if I know it wouldn’t qualify in Basel.
