Iceland’s Söngvakeppnin 2025 returned for another week with semi-final 2. The remaining five acts performed for their chance to progress to the grand final and remain in the running to represent Iceland at Eurovision in Basel.
The semi-finals are 100% televote, with the Icelandic public having all the power to choose which three acts progressed to the grand final.
Guiding us through proceedings as hosts were Benedikt Valsson, Guðrún Dís Emilsdóttir and Fannar Sveinsson.
Söngvakeppnin 2025: Semi-final 2
Qualifiers
- Júlí and Dísa – “Eldur”
- Bjarni Arason – “Aðeins lengur“
- Tinna – “Þrá“
Running order
- Dagur Sig – “Flugdrekar”
- Bára Katrín – “Rísum upp”
The three successful acts will join VÆB, Stebbi Jak, and Ágúst, the qualifiers from the first semi-final. Per the format changes, there won’t be a wildcard in this edition.
In the semi-finals, all acts had to perform the Icelandic version of their songs. Those who advance to the grand final will have the option to change to English. VÆB and Bjarni have only produced an Icelandic version, so that will be their default, with others to be determined later in the week.
Are you impressed by the show? Can any of the semi-final 2 acts win Söngvakeppnin 2025? Let us know in the comments below.
#VÆB for the WINNNNN
so happy Bjarne qualifed best song of this competition by far
Tinna served a great song. Interesting staging. Loved it.
Tinna was my fav here so it’s cool to see she qualified.
I feel like this semi is pretty wide open. I think i would put through Tinna, Juli & Disa, and I could argue for or against any of the other acts as the third.
I also struggle to pick three qualifiers here.
Thra is My favourite of this semi final but after last week in worried the older guy has some standing in Iceland that I’m not aware of and will get votes cos of that. I thought that song was incredibly dull and there’s no way it does well at the final (of Eurovision)
Thra is easily the best song in this semi, but idk how I feel about this staging. I liked the bit where the dancers came on and you almost couldn’t tell if they were part of the LED or really there. That was kind of cool.
Yes I also think that her dress was not fitting the rest of her staging
Atheins Lengur is that inevitable feature song for an older artist showcase. Pretty and nostalgic, but I don’t feel like it would do well for Iceland.
Bara Kitrin is beautiful but this song is doing nothing while that dancer is doing the most.
Once all five songs have performed, who would you pick as your top 3?
Eldur feels like 2 or 3 songs were stitched together. It’s not bad, but not particularly cohesive either.
Flugdrekar is kind of a boring song but Dagur Sig is absolutely slaying vocally in the chorus
