Good evening Europe, Oslo is calling! Tonight, Norway chooses its representative for Eurovision through their Melodi Grand Prix 2025 national final. This year, there were no semi-finals or qualification rounds — one show with nine competitors is all they need.
Now, the Wiwi Jury — our in-house panel of music unprofessionals — has gathered in the Nordic nation in search of a new Eurovision star. In a field containing Eurovision winners, MGP winners and multiple MGP runners-up, who will come out on top? Read on to find out.

1. Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter”
To be honest I am really disappointed in this year’s level of songs for the Norwegian national final MGP. Of course Kyle Alessandro’s entry “Lighter” is a stand-out. Written by the talented Swede Adam Woods (Melodifestivalen 2023 and 2024) and the artist himself, it is a really interesting song. Kyle is back after one year of absence and he is not playing. This song really makes me think that he has a great dance-break choreo up his sleeve. And I can already see lots of fire on stage. If that is the case, then he has a guaranteed win. I know Kyle is a great vocalist — however, the song might be very demanding in terms of choreography. I hope he pulls it off. 12 points from me go to Kyle Alessandro and “Lighter”.
2. Wig Wam – “Human Fire”
3. LLL – “Parasite”
4. Sondrey – “Vagabond”
5. Nataleen – “The Game”

1. Nataleen – “The Game”
The first word that comes to mind when I hear this song is powerful — powerful vocals, a powerful track and that Norwegian sound that the Eurovision fans expect from the MGP winner. It gives off a “Queen of Kings” vibe and I’m pretty sure it would resonate just as strongly with Eurovision fans. The song is a complete package in terms of composition, with a strong structure and a catchy melody, leaving room for a dynamic and visually striking performance. With the right staging, this could be a real standout on the Eurovision stage.
2. Tone Damli – “Last Song”
3. Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter”
4. Ladybug – “Hot as Hell in Paradise”
5. LLL – “Parasite”

1. Nora Jabri – “Sulale”
On such a reduced selection of songs compared to past editions, Nora Jabri’s more refined, Buddha Bar-esque take on a “Haba Haba” style song easily stands out. The Arabic instrumentals provide a really smooth listening experience, with a pretty heartfelt lyrical journey to go with it. It is a unique way to introduce Nora’s culture and life story, and it’s one that would be very striking to see at Eurovision.

1. Wig Wam – “Human Fire”
Wig Wam are back! And they are… well not quite better than ever but it’s most certainly a welcome return in what is not a classic year for Norway’s MGP. Though LLL and Nataleen’s songs are also pretty good, “Human Fire” stands out… just. With their stage experience, clearly MGP will not be a problem for these glam-rock veteran legends and I expect them to put on one hell of a show! The biggest issue is that this classic rock song is, well… classic. It is a track that we have heard a million times before. But I suppose if it’s not broken, why fix it?

1. Kyle Alessandro – “Lighter”
Remember when Belarus used to have auditions for their national selection which felt like random people were walking in off the street to try their hand? Norway normally puts together one of the best national finals every year, but this year they may as well scoop up a random singer from the streets of Minsk. I can describe 4 of my top 5 as being songs which are excellent musically, but filled with lyrics which range from lazy or boring to annoying or cringeworthy. Kyle Alessandro is the exception — I don’t mind “Lighter” lyrically but I find it cheap musically. I really enjoy the song while Kyle is singing but the musical interludes feel like they’ve been pulled from a royalty-free dance track off YouTube. If Kyle can put forward some fresh choreography and good vocals, this could be salvaged enough to become at least a very respectable Eurovision entry.

1. Nataleen – “The Game”
You can’t help but hear one part “Run to the Hills” and one part “Queen of Kings”, but it’s a perfect combination of the style, energy and charisma that those near-perfect pop powerhouses held, in a new, competitive package. Nataleen’s “The Game” is a fierce, cheeky anthem that practically dares you to keep up with its swagger. If this track doesn’t make you feel like a boss, then girl, you’re probably not playing the game right!

What do you think of the songs competing in Melodi Grand Prix 2025? Who should win the ticket to represent Norway in Basel? Let us know in the comments below.
Bobbysocks will be joyful when we see them live, don’t rule them out.
The only song I like from this selection is Vagabond and it seems like I’m the only one lol
Ladybug has my favourite song but maybe it’s not for Eurovision.
Kyle Alessandro and Nataleen have both generic soulless pop songs. Norway can do much better.
Team Kyle
I am Team Nataleen. Go girls! SLAY!!
