Tommy Cash won Eesti Laul last weekend with 83% of the public vote, making him the audience’s clear favourite to become Estonia’s Eurovision entry with “Espresso Macchiato.” However, one of his biggest fans on the night was a certain Eurovision 2023 runner-up, Käärijä.

Tommy Cash has now revealed more on ETV show Ringvaade about the support he has received from Käärijä, as well as Joost Klein — the Dutch Eurovision 2024 entrant.

Tommy Cash speaks about friendship with Käärijä and Joost Klein

Käärijä was in the Eesti Laul audience during Tommy’s performance and later joined the Estonian star in the green room. Throughout the night, he wore a T-shirt with the text “Vote for Tommy.” In the past, the two artists have collaborated musically, with Tommy featuring on Käärijä’s song It’s Crazy, It’s Party” and later performing together at a concert.

Beyond their musical collaboration, it seems the two artists share a genuine friendship. Speaking on Ringvaade, Tommy opened up about how Käärijä’s presence in the studio helped him during his performance:

“Käärijä helped me so much, actually. I performed twice that day. During the afternoon there was a run-through for the jury. It was a good live, but the evening performance was better because Käärijä helped me. He said ‘Tommy, take a look around, enjoy it, if I could go back in time I would enjoy it more, just enjoy it.’ He calmed me down so much, he brought me so much more down to earth.”

A close friendship also connects Tommy and Joost Klein. Last month, the two artists attended Paris Fashion Week together in various matching outfits, sharing moments from the event on their social media with the caption “united by music.”

Even though he wasn’t physically in Estonia during Eesti Laul, Joost Klein supported the Estonian artist from afar and made sure Tommy knew it. In return, Tommy expressed his gratitude for Joost’s support:

“He wrote to me ‘Tommy, smile, smiling wins, love wins.’ Just such a simple and light text. They’re like two brothers to me who have been down this road before and they helped me.”

During Ringvaade, Tommy expressed confidence that Estonia has a real chance of winning Eurovision this year. Before the broadcast, he also met Prime Minister Kristen Michal, who happened to be in the same studio for a different show.

For Käärijä, Tommy won’t be the only friend that he’ll be supporting this year. He’s also backing Finland’s Erika Vikman, with whom he has also previously collaborated and performed — including on the #1 hit “Ruoska.”

Now that both Tommy and Erika have won their respective national selections, fans asked Käärijä which side he would be on this year — Finland or Estonia. In response, he stated that it shouldn’t be a competition over whom he supports more, emphasising that he cherishes both Tommy and Erika equally.

What are your thoughts about the Tommy-Käärijä-Joost friendship? Do you think that Estonia will win Eurovision this year? Let us know in the comments bellow.

The only problem is they are trying to feed us “Espresso Macchiato” as the next winner when “Cha Cha Cha” and “Europapa” were faaaaar better.

Somehow his casual interview in 2019 came up on my Insta feed, where he says he would never do Eurovision. As he “ back in 2019” regard it, in Russian btw, as a sort of freak show

This is so unfair to the other contestants when a joke entry comes and takes 200 points. Why should a serious artist compete anyway?

Tommy needs to work on his singing. Did anyone listen to him live? Far different than the studio version. I still have him in my personal top 10 and that’s only because I make my ranking on studio versions and not live.

Kaarija and Joost were huge contenders for the win. I’m not really getitng that impression with Tomasso. It feels too much like a joke entry instead of a fun entry. Also, what was up with them taking down the Estonian entry and the Eesti Laul channel???

To me it’s such a weird situation, because some people say that the Eesti Laul channel was unofficial, but on the other side: ERR (Estonian broadcaster) uploaded all of the performances except Tommy’s. I’m so confused, haha.

Joost was the guy being bullied in highschool. Usually these are the guys that grow up to be a little crazy and a little provocative. The toxic highschool dudes grow up to be boring bankers.

I am not a fan of Tommy’s song. I’d almost go so far as to say I hate it. It’s not in the same LEAGUE as the entries from the other two. Still, I guess he’s a nice guy. Maybe it will grow on me. If it comes with such a solid endorsement, maybe I will listen with ears afresh.

Tommy and Joost made a new “song” called United by Music, where they “sing” f**k Ebu, where they say they want to go to Kiev AND to Moscow, that they want to vote for Kamala AND for Trump, and that Joost doesn’t want to go in court… tasteful and full of substance isn’t it?

Sure, as we’re free to not appreciate it and to not find it tasteful but pretty misplaced, anyway their aim is not to make tasteful music but to make react people and to provoke, so on that it’s a success, bravo to them.

I’ve never been a fan of these 3, of their personalities and of their specific music, and I will never be, sorry, I prefer REAL singers,
so I am not part of this weird cult lol.
And now the joke begins to be a bit heavy, and tiring.
Am I a bad eurofan for that? Maybe, maybe not, but in any case I assume.

REAL singers? What does that mean? This is not Idol, or The Voice. Vocals are not all-important. It’s a song contest. These three are creative artisst, expressing their worldview through their work… unique, special, charismatic, intelligent. Well, two of them are anyway.

Like it or not, the undisputed King of Eurovision is Johnny Logan – having won the thing three times, counting his two as the performer and another as the composer of a winning song. Is he my favorite male performer in Eurovision history? – no, but his accomplishments are real, documented and cannot be denied.

No I just like the REAL singers with REAL voices, something with musical and lyrical substance and not only based on vacuum and on jokes. Only impactful visuals and forced marketing …. it makes nothing to me, I’m not a sheep and I’m not fooled. So if you call that to be old-fashion, ok then I’m proud of that. At least in the fashion week they were kind of funny…but talented in provocative visuals doesn’t bring the substance a singer needs to appeal to me. They are only products based on marketing, no offense it’s just my opinion, and something… Read more »
