It was a night of expectations and celebrations, as heat 4 of Melodifestivalen 2025 took place in Malmö Arena on Saturday evening. And the heavy favourite delivered in the end.

Eurovision 2015 champion Måns Zelmerlöw won the heat and qualified directly to the Grand Final, while Finnish-Swedish humour group KAJ snatched the other direct qualification spot. Third place went to Ella Tiritiello, who will have to travel to Jönköping next weekend to find out her destiny in the final qualification round.

Results of Melodifestivalen heat 4

  1. Måns Zelmerlöw – “Revolution” (direct to final)
  2. KAJ – “Bara bada bastu” (direct to final)
  3. Ella Tiritiello – “Bara du är där” (final qualification)
  4. Andreas Lundstedt – “Vicious” (out)
  5. Tennessee Tears – “Yours” (out)
  6. AmenA – “Do Good Be Better” (out)

Did your favourite qualify tonight? Could one of the two finalists win Melodifestivalen? Let us know in the comments below.

I’d love to see Kaj go to Eurovision and win the whole thing. It would shut the mouths of many people saying Sweden can only send generic pop song. And if they were to win Eurovision with this song, I would laugh out loud. Not only Sweden would prove they can send something different and funny but also they would prove that they are the best at this too :’) I’m not Swedish but the hate towards Sweden I’ve seen over the last 5 years made me want to support Sweden even more.

Kaj would be something different for Sweden, if the public goes ape for it, but will the international juries let it win over Mans? I doubt it. “I’m not Swedish but the hate towards Sweden I’ve seen over the last 5 years made me want to support Sweden even more.” I’m getting really tired of the fandom hate towards Sweden, and I think it’s about time we have a discussion about it. It is something that has baffled me year and year and I want to know when this began. Was it rooted with Mans won Eurovision ten years ago,… Read more »

Yeah I think people really hated that Måns won over Il Volo back in 2015 and they also hated Loreen’s victory in 2023. The fact that both those victories are due to juries doesn’t help but is Sweden responsible for that? I mean we can’t blame Sweden for being good… They always produce nearly perfect performances with incredible staging, of course the hard work they put in the competition is rewarded. And I would also like to point out their incredible production level when it comes to host the show. 2024 may not have been one of the best year… Read more »

I think it resentment comes from the perception that the contest has been Melodifestivalen- -ized. Which is true to a certain extent. Svt, or Christer at least, is seen to have far more influence than he is entitled to. It was he who ditched the running order draw in 2013, changed the results voting reveal in 2016, introduced prerecorded backing vocals, prioritized staging over song etc. etc. Pushed out other styles of music and made it about radio pop only. Also of course the executive supervisor is Swedish which people immediately associate with bias. I’m not saying I agree with… Read more »

Yeah, that I can understand too. I don’t like Christer Bjorkman either but I have to say that I like some of the changes he brought to the contest. I like the new point system since 2016, I think it’s more exciting and clearer that way. I’m also not against the fact that the production decides of the running order even though I agree it’s not really fair. I understand why they do that.
I’m totally against the prerecorded backing vocals. Maybe it was okay for 2021 but it should have stopped there…

Yes, we are definitely overdue for a first time victor since Portugal’s win eight years ago. Will it come from this year’s crop? I don’t know. I really don’t want to go more than a decade without somebody winning for the first time. I think the 90s was the only decade in Eurovision history where there wasn’t a first time winner because there was an 12 year gap between Yugoslavia and Estonia winning for the first time. As much as people tend to bash on the 2000s decade for Eurovision, one thing I liked about that decade was that we… Read more »

I like both songs BUT Kaj would be a refreshing change for sweden. Sending something original AND sung in swedish? Revolution is…well, a bland pop song, but Måns’ charisma and the staging elevates it to something bigger.
I seriously doubt Kaj will win – the way the final voting works it’s almost certain that Måns, John or maybe Clara will take the win. But who knows, maybe we will get a nice surprise 🙂

I just don’t see the title being ‘Revolution’ fitting for the world and sentiment we live in right now. Is the song manufactured only to win? Or is there a real passion, drive and story behind it. If i was Europe answering a question I would suggest that I don’t want a revolution we only want peace. Sometimes I think some European countries throw in a one word English title because it sounds good then give it an amazing staging and there you go , give us the trophy!. This is just my take, however with “Heroes” it was a clear story and topic: bullying and how M was bullied as a kid. The cartoon figure was called MP… lovely message!
With “Revolution”, I haven’t heard the same story from M – well, besides that it’s NOT an anti-Trump song. He did explain somewhat what [Revolution] the song is about, but imo it’s not with the same passion as “Heroes”..

Kaj’s song is the Melfest 2025 song which has the biggest impact so far inside and outside Sweden…
Will we get Sauna! in Basel or Revolution?

I’m one of those people who always begs for Swedish language and a different genre for Sweden at ESC. But it seems they want to come off as slick pop is what makes Sweden – Sweden. If they decide to send Mans, I can see a few things that night work for him in Basel. His song is not that amazing but it builds up to an amazing ending. The ending is the best part of the song. No one is overanalyzing here as some people are saying, but our message is clear. We love Eurovision, and when we see something being relentlessly pushed onto us, as the EBU and juries seem to do with Sweden, it’s disheartening. This is a contest we hold dear, and we want fair results and equal opportunities for all countries, especially those who are working hard but are undermined by the system. We want what’s best for this cherished competition. And while everyone here is evaluating the Revolution song for what it is, an average song with an amazing scene and jury… Read more »

Bara Bada Bastu looks and sounds like a televote winner in Basel, and if the juries open their eyes and ears they might even vote for it too. Mans’ performance is uncomfortable to watch. If Måns wins again in May, Eurovision has officially accepted its status as a nepotistic competition made for the very few. There’s not even a discussion about Melfest, people vote for the names anyways, not the songs. And of course, the jury glazing for unoriginality gets more sickening each year. They will be given a nice running spot in the ESC final by Christen Bjorkman the Swedish snake who is hiding also this year behind the scenes as the esc producer, get loads of 12 points from the so-called jury votes so that noone else from the charismatic fresh faces of other countries who present something original will be able to reach them mathematically even if he/she wins televote and have Sweden stealing the victory from someone else like they did in 2015 and 2023 to maybe the detriment of Finland again.

Jag har en konstig känsla av att Måns kommer att vinna. Vad tycker du?

Okej, ignorera mitt svar bara.

Yes Revolution is not an innovative song but do you really think that the average esc viewers who will vote in May will think that it’s just a typical melodifestivalen song etc etc? No, because they don’t know these stuff. In contrast they will see the performer of heroes with a song that suits him, a very good staging and a radio friendly song. And that’s what they really expect from Sweden. In general the eurovision bubble sometimes seems separated from the millions of people that watch the contest. I am not saying that Måns will win, but Sweden chooses… Read more »

Actually public has repeatedly rejected the radio-friendly swedish songs half the time in the last 8 years, especially the ones that are Justin Timperlake-rejects. Noone can forget the 22 points of Benjamin Ingrosso in Lisbon. Yes Tattoo topped Cha cha cha in the platforms before and after the contest but Loreen was the clear favorite from the beginning, the famous previous winner who probably had the best winning song of the 21st century (until Maneskin probably). And then after the contest all the media presented the story of the first female double winner in eurovision. So its not fair to… Read more »

‘Dance you off’ is a typical argument against Sweden but it doesn’t stand. To name a few, I can’t go on or too late for Love are songs that are criticized by the bubble for being generic and they were top 10 in the televote. In fact, since Loreen’s win in 2012, only 4 times Sweden hasn’t been top 10 in the televote (with M&M being 11th) and we talk about 12 contests. I get your point for Loreen, ofc media played their role, as they do with most of the winners, but the thing is that after ESC it… Read more »

No one but petty fans remember Sweden got 21 points in 2018 and only to rub it in. But even excluding jurles , Sweden has only missed top 10 five times which is nothing really compared to the majority of times the voters got them to top 10
And even excluding the year Sweden got it’s only non qualifier, going by public votes it would have reached top 10 in the semi

If Revultion goes to Eurovision it will be sth like: Jury vote: 300, Televote 50.

Loreen’s Tattoo and her staging was refreshing and modern, hence why she won, deservingly. Måns’ performance refreshing? Not so much.

I’ll be so immensely disappointed in Sweden when they’ll choose Måns over Klara, Greczula, KAJ or even John Lundvik this year. It’s so predictable though.. The song is okay and he’s obviously a fantastic performer but it’s super dated and I also thought he was heavily reliant on the backing vocals. Please Sweden be a little more bold this year.
