Honestly i think going back to the contest you already won is a loss, and a personal embarassment. Good thing, most artists know that, sweden do not…. Its a shame.
Sweden has so much good to offer, that repeaters, is such a letdown on the average scale. Loreen and now Mans….

I love both Mans and KAJ songs, so different but equally impressive.

I think KAJ will easily win the televoting but they should do well with int. juries too and win overall. There is a lot of hype for them at the moment and I feel that people will be angry if Mans wins.

Måns will win pretty easily by both juries and people. He is beloved by the Swedish people and has a good sing
That said KAJ is a threat and if there ever were to be an upset it’s this year. Unlikely but possible

Måns Zelmerlöw loves the contest just as much as you do. Therefore he’s been involved in many events the past decade. But apperently he deserves all the hate now.. Everywhere there are hateful comments, really rough ones that is nothing more than unworthy behaviour from fans. It’s totally okay for other countries to send returnees, but when Sweden does it it’s called greed. Tell that to Johnny Logan, Alexander Rybak, Dana International, and so on and so on.. Lots of examples. It’s pretty obvious that it’s because it’s Sweden. Kaj covers the fact that it’s Sweden. Finland is even trying… Read more »

I’m with you. If Loreen did it, why not Måns? My only issue is the song, it’s weak and doesn’t hold any meaning. With everything that’s happening in the world rn, it’s almost insulting having a generic pop beat about “revolution” that says nth.

Update: I tracked down the original source which is a podcast, and I listened to the whole thing. In the podcast, they say how they didn’t expect to do well in Melfest, and therefore didn’t schedule for it – so if they win, they’re gonna have some problems there. They joke about how, in that sense, the best case scenario would be if Måns won by 1 point. As they are about to follow up on that, they are interrupted by the hosts, but they later go back on it to clarify that they are getting increasingly pumped to take… Read more »

Mans is an incredible performer and he showed it once again. However, when I listen to Revolution, it doesn’t give me anything, it’s just a song you’ve already heard thousand times (except for the last few seconds which are without a doubt the highlight of the song but in my opinion way to short). I really like Melfest this year. If I go by my number of song listens, it’s a tie between Meira Omar and Klara Hammerström, but that’s probably because they were in earlier heats. Next is Kaj, so Kaj would win overall when that is factored in. Then John Lundvik is next, followed by Greczula and Eric Segerstedt. I like Måns as an artist, but my issue with “Revolution” is it can mean practically anything, and thus it means nothing to me. Authentic doesn’t necessarily mean indie or obscure. Obviously it’s Mello, there’s a high level of polish. But it’s in Swedish and speaks about important elements of Nordic culture. There’s been many such songs in their NF before, but none that came close to making it to Eurovision, hence the invitation to do something different for once.

Thats not what he meant. The song is not more authentic than Revolution. It’s polished, slick and a joke entry that pokes fun on two different cultures. That type of songs was made popular by Markoolio 25 years ago

There must be a Swedish person in the song writing team. Someone from Mello production asked Kaj to take part and probably suggested them to contact Werthov. As far as I know, Kaj doesn’t have any connections to Swedish song writers before this.

Kaj has written the original demo and Werthov then mellofied it and actually added the Finnish words. But the song is still mainly written by the band.

The problem with Måns and his song is neither him nor the song. Had the song been performed by another male performer like Danny Saucedo then probably we would be glad to praise it a lot more. Or as someone said here already: had the song been chosen to represent any other country like the UK we would also be glad about it. Yoo just confirmed there is a anti Sweden bias here with that statement. Saying the song is in fact good, just that it is from Sweden? Had it represented UK it woukd have been a fan favourite and treated as a winner candidate. But since it’s Sweden its OK to trash talk it and call it generic. Would it have been less generic if it was UK song or what?
So what if it is generic? Is not like the otherESC songs are less generic. ESC is itself generic, the whole purpose behind it was to sell TV’S

Well yeah this is a fandom for a competition. Of course there’s anti-Sweden bias. Nobody likes seeing a competition be dominated by the same winner every time, whether it’s arts, sports, etc. Manchester City play the nicest football in England. Nobody is rooting for them to win for it.

Let’s be honest here. A song can’t win Eurovision without enough support from both the juries and the televoters so the argument that Sweden has only done well in recent years because of juries is more of a coping mechanism from the ESC fandom than anything. Since 2016 the only year where there was a huge discrepancy between juries and televoters was 2018 (2nd with juries, 23rd with televoters). In 2019 juries placed Sweden 2nd and televoters 9th and that’s the second biggest discrepancy.

The problem w Mello is that there is a literal writer/producer mob you need to employ to be selected. So everything is a rehash of a rehash. KAJ said as much when asked why they work with Wrethov.

Final, song writers:
DLZ: Måns/Dollystyle
G:son: Klara H., Lundvik
Wrethov: KAJ, Omar, Scarlet
Jimmy Jansson: Klara H., Lundvik
Jimmy Joker: Maja Ivarsson; Scarlet

The only ones not written by these are Wickihalder, Greczula, Ludwig, and Segerstedt

I find the Swedish final to be weak this year. I have many songs from Mello that I enjoyed this year – but they all came 4th in their respective semis… the song by Vilhelm Buchaus in the last semi was absolutely stunning, same with Nomi Tales from the first semi. Kaliffa was another great song that engaged me – and Andreas Lundstedt served a viciously great disco track. But the generic pop songs and those most overproduced qualified for the final as always. Back then we didnt have social media – so people didnt have the opportunity to express themselves in the same way. BUT the problem is not that Sweden wins often – it is just that they seem to win with the same style of song every time – generic, overproduced, slick pop – with no authenticity. And their last two wins especially proves that it was the singer that sold the song – and not the song that sold itself. When Sweden start taking risks, then the goodwill against Sweden definitely will happen.

Klara is good as well and she always elevates her song, same goes for Grezcula. What differs the two favorites, though, is that they persuade you to get your phone and vote for them. This is very important for Melfest and ESPECIALLY for Eurovision. Yes, there could be arguments against both entries, but in May average European won’t think if “Revolution” is generic or “Bara Bada Bastu” style of song is popular in… Read more »

Im surprised at the Betting odds regarding Mans when currently Bara Bada Bastu is topping the Swedish and Finnish Spotify charts. I believe the organisers also want a close run contest as interestingly Kaj are performing last. I still don’t really think it’s a one horse race despite the bookmakers odds. Another interesting point is the amount of support coming from non Swedish speaking fans for Kaj which suggests it can do very well at Eurovision itself.

Remember the INTERNATIONAL juries, who won’t care what is number one in Sweden. Also the language barrier.

I don’t think there is any language barrier at all as the staging tells the story so well and everyone will be singing the chorus and shouting Sauna. As much as I love Erika and Finland you could argue this could possibly do better than Finland in the finals.

Yeah, but the juries discount anything not in English, they always have.

The did love Medina however. Both times. And Theoz did better with juries than audience. Lundvik’s Swedish song in 2022 reached top 5 with juries but almost last with audience. So the bias seems to be with audience..

We will see the staging has a very universal appeal and is easily understandable but I agree will need to be top 3 in juries.

yes i see it in front of me now on saturday when Kaj will get like 6 and at most 8 pointers and then the jury will have that damn cheeky smile and be like “12 points to our Hero that will make a revolution” ugh..i throw up in my mouth a bit when i think about it…then in the end KAJ will win the televoters but in vain since måns will come second in the televote and therefore keep his lead 🙁

With all the comments I have made it sounds like I really hate Mans,I actually think he is a great performer and singer but it just seems all a bit too safe for me I don’t see a lot new in the staging or the actual song.

Mans is like the rich kid we all know, nothing special. Someone else who has worked harder and deserves it more needs to win it, but the rich kid throws money into it, packages it in the best way, uses connections and gets away with the glory. We all know this rich kid

Right! Looks a bit cocky too and has proved he really is lately. Didn’t stand him even 2015 less now.

You don”t think Måns has worked hard? Why is he less worthy of a win than others? If people want him to win then he is worthy and that’s that. That’s not for the fans to decide who is worthy or not

In a way, winning is punishment. They lose a regular gig every year. He hasn’t competed in ten years!

I’m like 90% team KAJ in this selection (8% Mans and 2% Klara xD) but come on… I think your comment is very disrespectful towards Mans work.

Mans’ “Revolution” song is one of the most average pop songs of this year; overrated in the odds because of Mans.
