We’ve searched among the stars and through space and found Ireland’s EMMY. Her mission? To bring the “Laika Party” to the London Eurovision Party 2025! The Norwegian and honourary Irish gal will perform her Eurovision 2025 entry for the fans across the Irish Sea in The UK’s capital on April 13th at Here At Outernet.
You still have time to grab your space suits and your tickets to the show here. You can catch EMMY, among other acts from this year – you can see who else is performing here!
Who is EMMY?
Whilst she is representing the Emerald Isle, EMMY is actually from Norway. She has even tried to represent her homeland in Eurovision before, having taken part in MGP 2021 with her mystical-yet-fearsome bop “Witch Woods”. EMMY made it to the final even, and has been beloved since. Fans were delighted to see her in the line-up for Ireland’s Eurosong, albeit maybe a little confused. Well, to clarify, there are Irish songwriters on the track! And it was clear the Irish public wanted EMMY.
The public gave her a resounding ‘douze points’, along with a 12 from the Irish national jury. Throw in a 10 from the International Jury, and EMMY became a runaway winner. Quite the surprise from early predictions, but incredibly deserving after a fabulous performance on the night.
We are so excited to welcome EMMY to the London Eurovision Party with her adorable entry. The song tells the sad tale of the dog Laika who was the first animal up in space. She passed tragically, but EMMY is imagining a world where she survived and parties in the galaxy every night. A more left-field topic for a song perhaps, but one Eurovision fans have embraced whole-heartedly.
What is the London Eurovision Party 2025?
The London Eurovision Party is the biggest annual Eurovision event in the United Kingdom. It is also one of the biggest and most classic shows on the Eurovision pre-party tour. It’s been going from strength to strength over the years, and this year it celebrates it’s Sweet Sixteen edition in style at Here at Outernet in the UK capital, on April 13th.
Here at Outernet is a large concert venue right in the beating heart of London. It is known for it’s artistic styling and modern spaces. The London Eurovision Party will provide an excellent chance for a British audience to see their favourite acts before the contest itself. This song is an embarrassment to Ireland and to the Eurovision song contest
“I hope laika never died”
She died, she was sent into space on her own with no concept of what was going on. She was left to panic, be scared and rot away at the expense of what? Progress? When was the last time we sent people to the moon? Utter tripe and offensive. A horrible tribute to that poor dog. I hope this doesn’t qualify it’s the 2nd worst Eurovision entry I’ve ever heard in my entire life
You like it then?
I love it more than Surie’s ‘Storm’ because that’s my worst entry ever in the history of Eurovision, but Laika Party definitely takes second place
Oh come off it. In the history of Eurovision your two absolute worst entries are Storm and Laika Party??
An embarrassment? Really? You need to have a bit of a reality check. The Eurovision is fun and this song is fun. Irish Eurovision fans enjoy this song .
You prefer Dustin’s entry to this? ?
Jack- you need to get out more. There are bigger world embarrassments to rant about??????????
Given that this happened nearly 70years old, I think it’s safe to say that Laika is not alive. I think you need to take songs far less literally. Metaphors and personification is allowed in pop songs.
I think you don’t understand the song.
Of course Laika died, we all know that. But what Emmy is saying is that she wishes such animal cruelty had never happened and will never happen again. It’s a brilliant tribute, and it’s great that we finally have a song about this subject. I think and hope she qualifies.
Clearly not an embarrassment to the Irish public since the Irish public gave it a solid douze points.
I hope Laika comes too. :/
Who cares?
You, evidently
So it would seem!! Hahaha
