France is entering Eurovision 2025 in Basel in style, as always. This year, they are represented by Louane, an artist who is already a big name, competing with the impressive ballad “Maman.”

Since 2023, France has returned to internal selections, and Louane was chosen through this process as well. The announcement of her participation sparked excitement among Eurovision fans.

When it comes to Eurovision, France has a strong history of victories. The country has won five times: in 1958 with André Claveau, in 1960 with Jacqueline Boyer, in 1962 with Isabelle Aubret, in 1969 with Frida Boccara (in a rare four-way tie), and in 1977 with Marie Myriam. It’s been a long time since their last win—could this be the year France brings home its sixth trophy?

The only heavy thing is the French song, as it’s going to sink down the scoreboard in May.
