Spain at Eurovision 2025: Melody – “ESA DIVA”
Melody rose through the ranks in the 2025 edition of the Spanish national final, Benidorm Fest, winning the selection by placing third with the juries, but overwhelmingly winning the public vote.
Known from the hits of her child star days — such as “El Baile Del Gorila” and “De Pata Negra” — this show woman has taken a whole new identity, combining flamenco and Andalusian elements with modern production and flair.
After winning Benidorm Fest, Melody debuted a sleeker and updated version of her Eurovision entry, collaborating with Eighty4, Rick Parkhouse, George Tizzard, and Guillem Vila Borras.
What do the “ESA DIVA” lyrics mean?
“ESA DIVA” is an autobiographical, grand number, referencing Melody’s former songs and her progress to where she is today. “Fui del mundo la rumbera” references the hook of “El Baile Del Gorila”, expressing the sentiment of being on top of the world as something she felt ordinary.
However, this fame doesn’t get to her head. She recognises that a true diva is actually a humble, simple person who should not dim the light of others to let their talent shine.
She also says that a diva is not just a person on the big screens and stages showcasing their talents. It can be mothers caring for their young, and unknown artists without a following. In the end, you, Melody, and everyone are really that diva. The Spanish star invites you to scream “That Diva Is Me”
