ADONXS – “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” (Czechia Eurovision 2025)

Review: ADONXS – “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”

Scarlett: “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” was hard to appreciate at first, but after several listens the song revealed its depth. The lyrics are emotional but not melodramatic, and ADONXS’s lower and upper registers accentuate the desperation and frustration contained in the song. At the same time, the sudden beat flip towards the end was bewildering. For such a drastic change, it seemed too short. The ending, as soaring as it is, never quite seems to hit its peak. Even so, “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” is a dark horse in the competition.

     Score: 6

Tomas: This has to be one of the best Czech songs at Eurovision for sure. ADONXS seems to have prepared something that Eurovision fans are here for, delivering not only strong vocals but also a dance break. This gives me flashbacks to Brunette’s “Future Lover”. I really enjoy having the dance break, which cuts the song in half and builds on the emotional finish. I’m excited to see ADONXS in the final!

     Score: 8

Lucy: If someone wants to criticise this song, it’s usually around the dance break. Not for me, as I actually understand why it’s there — it’s a stage moment, not a studio one. No, no. My beef with “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” is it has hints of a better quality “D.G.T.” (Romania 2023) in the verses. I’m quite bored with it by the end, even with the burst of choreo in the middle. I like ADONXS’s voice however, and I know I’m in the minority here. I hope he does well, as Czechia are a bit of a stan country for me, but I’m not inspired.

     Score: 4

Ruxandra: ADONXS’s acoustic performance from MESC was the best proof that he has an incredible voice — it completely blew me away. It was also proof that sometimes, less is more, as just his voice and the piano were enough to make an impact. In the official version, the song feels very dramatic, with an instrumental that sounds like it’s straight out of a James Bond movie, along with the dramatic backing vocals in the chorus. I think I was expecting something more mysterious and less dramatic. The dance break will undoubtedly showcase his outstanding dancing skills, but I don’t see it being that well integrated into the song.

I think part of it is that dance breaks are kind of overused in the last few years. Hell, there was even one in Armenia’s 2023 song!

When I had only heard snippets of the song, I thought it was really good. He has a good voice, the song has a lot of potential… but then I heard the whole song and was so disappointed by the dance break. That really ruins the whole song for me. It doesn’t fit the song at all and ruins the whole atmosphere imo

That’s actually the only good part imo, the rest is so bland and generic, but at the same time it’s so disjointed that yea maybe it does ruin it

Depends on which part you like haha! Either way the two parts don’t really match each other I think

It’s a song I really wish I enjoyed more. But Czechia has an amazing staging record and Adonxs can sing really well, so I’m glad it’s esteemed.

I reckon juries will eat this up but it’s one of those songs where I feel like the majority of people like it but aren’t so passionate about it that it’ll be rolling in the televotes.

But czechia needs to qualify to the final first so it can get those sweet, sweet jury points

6.40 is a bit harsh imo, this song deserves a 7 and more at least.

Czechia – This one is pretty solid to me. I like the vocals and the overall vibe, even though the dance break doesn’t 100% sit right with me. I do have the slight worry that it could potentially be the Belgium 2024 of this year, but I think this one does have more interesting parts to it. 6.5/10

It’s good but I don’t know what it is, but it doesn’t click for me all the way. Also I can’t get used to dance brake. Wiwibloggs said it works live but not for me. It’s still out of place.

Dunno…too repetitive, I guess. Great vocal, nice production, but the song has no real identity and sounds like…a patchwork of different things.

CZECHIA – I am a sucker for Bond-esque ballads with a grand atmosphere. The hook is pretty instant. Adonxs more than does this justice, both in singing and stage presence. This is an entry I am supposed to love, but I only like it. I am trying to find the reason behind it. The lyrics are good. They are about getting rid of the toxic relationship, and they even elevate the material by using some more complex terms like ”drunk in apathy” and ”you almost moved me.” The melody in the chorus is pretty solid, and easily sticks. The main… Read more »

Fair review Dominic! I actually had the exact same impression of the song as you here if you asked me 1,5 months ago 🙂 . It gradually grew on me both musically and lyrically. In the second part, recent experiences of mine might have also played a role!

His voice and as an artist he’s better than the song. I think the rating for the song is fair.

We’ve heard this song so many times before that the lyrics are almost laughable. It’s a song you could live with, but it still makes no serious contribution to this Eurovision edition.

The music of “Kiss Kiss Goodbye” is tender, open, honest and surprisingly poignant. Most of the song sounds like it’s in 6/8 time and the melody uses some duplets and patterns of five semiquavers to express the struggles in a difficult relationship. The Intro and Verse 1 are actually unique to the song, because this music doesn’t repeat later. The Intro’s guitar chords remind me a bit of soundtracks from Western movies, but this sound doesn’t last for long. Verse 1 ploughs forward very fast with those melodies and builds up to the expression of the Pre-Chorus. The Pre-Choruses are… Read more »

This is an interesting case of an entry that has so many ingredients that should make it one of my absolute favorites, and yet I just find it solid. I like it, but I am more attached to some other entries, some of which don’t even feel like ”my thing” as much as this does, on paper. I’m a bit confused, but it is what it is. Thanks for the elaborated review, Purple. Always a delight to read.

22. Czechia – Adonxs – Kiss kiss goodbye – 6.5/10 – this starts with a sort of country twinge which is not my thing and the theme of the track is not something that I connect with but it is a well produced track and the break-down is unexpected and interesting, I would have liked more of that. I feel like they played it a bit too safe with this one so it doesn’t leave a lasting impression.

This is one of the best Czech entries in Eurovision, and the highest note is an 8.? You kind of missed the mark with this one.

6th place: Czechia : This song at first stood somewhere in the middle of my top but gradually grew on me a lot. If we don’t take the dance break into consideration for a second, we are talking about a very good, well-produced, modern and full with feeling ballad. Adonxs has a very nice, deep voice and the song has enough melodic changes to keep me interested: the soulful verses, the captivating pre-chorus and the catchy chorus. The dance break seems like it’s part of a different song, but as I listened to the song more and more, it started… Read more »
